Abstract: A portable misting fan in which the user controls the spray mist and the fan operation separately. A lower compartment stores a fluid and a pump provides the pressure to propel the fluid through a delivery tube to a spray nozzle. The flow of fluid to the nozzle is controlled by a valve that is operated by the user pushing a button. An upper compartment houses a fan which is powered by batteries and provides an air stream that is directed to the user. The fan is mounted in a fan housing in the upper compartment that is pivotally connected to the upper housing. There axe passageways in the fan housing and pivot connection for receiving the fluid delivery tube and electrical wires so that all they are all internal to the misting fan.

  • Patent number: 7614855
Abstract: A fluid pumping system that includes a motor and a pump, wherein an output shaft of the motor is directly coupled to an input shaft of the pump. This coupling between the output shaft of the motor and the input shaft of the pump may be the primary mechanism for coupling the motor to the pump. Such a configuration may be called a “floating pump mount”, because the pump is primarily coupled to the motor via the shaft connection. As a result of this connection, the output shaft of the motor may be naturally “aligned” with the input shaft of the pump. To help prevent the pump from freely rotating with the output shaft of the motor during operation, a rotational stop mechanism may be provided. The rotational stop mechanism may include at least one resilient member for absorbing or substantially absorbing at least some of any relative movement between the pump and the motor.

The water pump eliminates the need for additional drive-belt tensioning parts, therefore simplifying maintenance procedures. The pump housing has a support member mounted thereto, with a pump shaft extending therethrough. The support member flange includes eccentrically-formed mounting grooves. The support member is rotated by the loosening of adjustment screws securing it in place. By rotating the support member, the location of the pump shaft is re-oriented and the tension of the drive belt adjusted.

  • Patent number: 5975862
Abstract: A power source and a human contacting portion of a portable power tool, with a vibration-proof member and a spacer placed between them, are tightened by fastening and connecting means in the direction approaching each other. The spacer serves to limit compressive power of the vibration proof member which acts between the power source and human contacting portion within effective vibration-proof range of the vibration-proof member by utilizing the fastening and connecting means, This does not cause the vibration absorbing effect of the vibration-proof member to be lost. In addition, there is no need to check the fastening degree achieved by the fastening and connecting means, thus allowing easy attachment of the vibration-proof member thereto. Alternatively, vibration-proof members may be placed between the power source side and the working member side without spacers if the vibration proof members support the power source apart from the working member.

  • Patent number: 5378119
Abstract: An air compressor includes an enclosed housing with a 12-volt electrical motor mounted to a bottom frame within said housing and a compressor pump located vertically above the motor within the housing and operably connected to the motor. A ventilation fan is mounted on the motor adjacent a ventilation panel in one side panel of the housing, to draw air into the housing. The top cover is spaced slightly above the upper edges of opposing side panels of the housing, to form a ventilation space at the upper end of the housing through which air may be circulated around the motor and pump and upwardly out of the housing. The compressor pump is mounted on a base plate which is pivotally mounted along one edge and has an adjustable length leg supporting the opposite edge. The adjustable length leg permits adjustment of the distance between the pump and motor so as to adjust the tension on a drive belt extending between pulleys on the pump and motor.

Abstract: A combination frame arranged between a centrifugal pump and a driver, such as a motor, the combination frame having in a central region thereof a compartment for holding shaft bearings and a quantity of oil, and a pump adapter frame arranged between said compartment and said pump, and a driver adapter frame arranged between said compartment and said driver, the pump and driver adapter frames and the compartment cast or forced as an integral structurally seamless frame between pump and driver. The driver adapter frame radially surrounds and covers impeller axial adjustment studs and reference nuts at the bearing housing, for protection. The combination frame of the present invention provides a stronger structural integrity than the multi-component frames of the prior art which allows for more precise alignment of the coupling between motor and pump which reduces vibration.

Also, the pair of main bearings further include, on the side of the compression elements, assembling jig mounting portions to which the assembling jig can be mounted.

  • Patent number: 5092821
Abstract: A drive system for impeller shafts includes a coupling that has a universal joint that is lubricated under all operating conditions. A housing is connected to the universal joint, which housing includes a hollow end portion adapted to receive the non-threaded end of an impeller shaft. A threaded stud projects from the end of the shaft and into the housing where the stud is secured by means of a nut. The nut is readily accessible to the user so that the axial position of the shaft can be adjusted without difficulty. The nut is releasably held within the housing so that the shaft and stud, with nut attached, can be quickly disconnected from the coupling. The invention also includes a modified "square drive" configuration for the ends of the shaft that is extremely strong and enables the shaft to be connected to the impeller and the coupling very easily.
