  • Patent number: 11371492
Abstract: A pump draws fluid from a reservoir and drives the fluid downstream to a spray tip where the fluid is applied to a surface. A piston is driven in a reciprocating manner to pump the fluid. A check valve is disposed downstream of the piston to regulate a flow of the fluid downstream from the piston. The pump is initially dry and is primed with fluid prior to operation. To facilitate priming, the piston is dimensioned to impact the ball and unseat a valve member of the check valve during a priming stroke, thereby ejecting any air from the pump through the check valve. With the air ejected from the pump, a vacuum is formed during a suction stroke of the piston, which draws fluid downstream from the reservoir to prime the pump.

Abstract: An unloader system is provided for a reciprocating gas compressor. The system includes an unloader valve assembly including a valve member controlling flow between compressor cylinder and a clearance bottle. Opening and closing of the valve member is controlled by manipulating a control pressure acting through a manifold against the stem of the valve member by means of a pressure regulator connected in series with a pressure source. When the pressure in the compressor cylinder acting on the heads of the poppet valve members exceeds the control pressure acting on the stems, the poppet valve members open, partially unloading the compressor.

  • Patent number: 6050918
Abstract: When the pressure of a discharge fluid of an electric pump (1) exceeds a predetermined relief pressure, relief valve (6) discharges a part of the fluid to a drain passage (5). A sensor (8, 10, 11) detects a drain flowrate of the drain passage (5), and feedback control of the rotation speed of the electric pump (1) is performed so that the drain flowrate coincides with a predetermined flowrate. Due to this feedback control, the necessary fluid pressure is maintained while suppressing the drain flowrate to the minimum.

  • Patent number: 6022195
Abstract: A vacuum system comprises, as an integral assembly, a vacuum pump with drive motor, a purge valve, a roughing valve and an electronic control module. A cryogenic vacuum pump and a turbomolecular vacuum pump are disclosed. The control module has a programmed processor for controlling the motor and valves and is user programmable for establishing specific control sequences. The integral electronic control module is removable from the assembly and is connected to the other devices through a common connector assembly. In the turbomolecular pump system proper introduction of a purge gas through the purge valve is detected by detecting the current load on the pump drive or by detecting foreline pressure. To test the purge gas status, the purge valve may be closed and then opened as drive current or pressure is monitored. After power failure, the controller will continue normal drive of the turbomolecular pump so long as the speed of the pump has remained above a threshold value.

Abstract: The hydraulic device for raising and lowering seat of the barber's chair has a main housing section and a lower section. A sliding plunger is slidably mounted in a sleeve extending between the lower section and the top cover of the main housing section. An oil pump is operative to force the oil contained with the main housing section into a channel in the lower section to the bottom of the sleeve for raising or lowering the sliding plunger. The seat of the barber's chair is mounted to the top of the sliding plunger. The joint between the lower section and the main housing section is permanently sealed with a metal compound by welding, brazing or soldering.

  • Patent number: 5947692
Abstract: A controller for a peristaltic pump receives as an input pressure P.sub.i sensed at the inlet of the pump. The controller derives a nonlinear scale factor S.sub.Pi that varies as a step function with P.sub.i. The scale factor S.sub.Pi equals a first nonvariable value when P.sub.i lays in a first defined zone of inlet pressures, and equals a second nonvariable value, different than the first nonvariable value, when P.sub.i lays in a second defined zone of inlet pressures different than the first defined zone of inlet pressures. The controller generates a pump speed command based, at least in part, upon S.sub.Pi.

  • Patent number: 5795328
Abstract: A vacuum system and a method of operating a vacuum system. The system comprises a vacuum line, a pump, a pump motor, a pressure adjusting assembly, a pressure sensor and a control means. The pump is connected to the vacuum line for drawing fluids therefrom, and the motor is connected to the pump to drive the pump. The pressure adjusting assembly is connected to the vacuum line for conducting fluid into that line at an adjustable rate. The pressure sensor is connected to the vacuum line to generate a pressure signal representing the pressure in the vacuum line. The control means receives the pressure signal and generates a system control signal that is used to adjust the pressure in the vacuum line. The specific manner in which the pressure in the vacuum line is adjusted depends on the value of that pressure, and in particular, whether that pressure is in a first range or a second range.

  • Patent number: 5772403
Abstract: A control system 10 for monitoring operation of a high pressure plunger pump 12 includes a microprocessor-based controller 40 and a plurality of sensors. Inlet pressure transducers 48 output electrical signals to the controller at intervals of less than 1 millisecond, indicative of the instantaneous inlet pressure to the pump. The controller 40 shuts down pump operation if a number of instantaneous pressure signals within a selected time period exceeds a predetermined value, or if the average inlet pressure signal exceeds a preselected value. The control system 10 is substantially tamperproof, and stored data indicative of tampering, pump startup, pump shutdown, and pump alarm conditions are recorded in a memory for subsequent retrieval and analysis. The serial interface 82 allows communication between the system operating computer 68 and a setup/processing computer 84, which may optionally be remote from the control system by use of a modem.
