  • Publication number: 20090142211
Abstract: A circular, reversible steam powered engine configured to force pistons mounted in circular housing assembly and coupled to a main shaft to create a work load. The steam powered engine is arranged to pipe steam of a high pressure into steam chambers to force pistons forward and push exhaust steam of a low pressure out of steam chambers. Gears rotate and engage with pistons to start and stop steam flow into timing valves and steam flow portions. The engine creates a torque required to effectively operate many types of loads, such as those for vehicle and equipment applications.

Abstract: A dynamic balancer for a prime mover, such as an internal combustion engine, with at least one balance shaft driven by the crankshaft of the engine, the at least one balance shaft. The pressure generator creates an output signal of pressurized working fluid whose pressure is speed-related. In one embodiment, the speed related pressure signal is applied to a device outside the balancer via a suitable the invention, a working fluid pump is also driven by at least one of the balance shafts of the dynamic balancer and the speed-related pressure signal is applied to the working fluid pump to control its output.

  • Patent number: 6722867
Abstract: A rotary compressor includes a rotor rotatably disposed to be eccentric to an inner peripheral surface of a housing, a rotation shaft for transmitting rotation force of an engine to the rotor, and a connection member through which the rotation shaft is connected to the rotor so that the rotation force is transmitted from the rotation shaft to the rotor. When a rotation speed of the rotation shaft is lower than a predetermined valve, the connection member is connected to the rotation shafts at the rotation force of the rotation shaft that is transmitted to the rotor. On the other hand, when the rotation speed of the rotation shaft is equal to or higher than the predetermined value, the rotation force from the rotation shaft to the rotor is interrupted, so that the rotary compressor is stopped. Therefore, useless load applied to the engine can be restricted.

  • Patent number: 5727933
Abstract: A pump for use in additive systems such as foam chemical additive systems for fire fighting water, the pump including impeller elements and flow meter elements in a common casing. The pump casing provides a gear pump arrangement using two enmeshed gears on an inlet side, and a closely adjacent gear flow meter arrangement downstream of the gear pump arrangement within the same pump casing. The gear flow meter elements are driven only by the force of liquid pumped by the enmeshed gears of the gear pump and cause very low pressure drop across the flow meter elements. Therefore, inaccurate measurements of flow rates due to slippage and viscosity variation are reduced compared to measuring the rotary speed of gear pump gears directly. The system is optimally used to meter and add foam chemical into a pressurized water line for fighting fires.

  • Patent number: 5112204
Abstract: An oscillatory rotating engine has a pair of rotors each defining a pair of diametrically opposed radially extending lobes, the rotors are mounted for rotation within a cylindrical housing and sealingly engage the walls of the cylindrical housing to define four working chambers. Each rotor is drivingly connected to an output shaft by means of an internal/external gear train, the external gear being mounted for rotation with the rotor and the internal gear being mounted rotatably with respect to the output shaft for orbital motion in mesh with the external gear. Each internal gear has an arm with a longitudinal slot which is engaged by a pivotal block which will act to rotationally restrain the internal gear and impose a periodic variation in velocity on the gear train, this periodic variation in velocity for the two rotors being out of phase so that the working chambers are alternately expanded and reduced in volume.

  • Patent number: 4557674
Abstract: A rotary vane air or gas motor is provided with a primary exhaust port having an exhaust fluid throttling valve therein for controlling motor speed. The motor includes a secondary exhaust port for discharging exhaust fluid flow from the motor expansible chambers after cutoff of the primary exhaust port. A flow sensing vane member is movably disposed in a flow passage in communication with the secondary exhaust port and is responsive to flow variations to actuate the exhaust fluid throttling valve by connecting linkage. The interconnected exhaust fluid throttling valve and flow sensing vane function as a motor speed limiting governor.

  • Patent number: 4247263
Abstract: A fuel pump assembly for supplying fuel to a gas turbine engine has a centrifugal pump, including an impeller, that furnishes the necessary pressure for engine operation at high engine speeds. A vane pump, attached to the back side of the impeller of the centrifugal pump, supplies fuel to the engine for starting and acceleration to idle. The vane pump is of the type having a stationary centrally disposed cam and an annular rotor with radially inwardly directed vanes which ride over the surface of the cam. Before idle speed is attained, the vanes which are substantially hydraulically balanced and made of a light plastic material are adapted to lift off the surface of the cam without the need of pressure relief behind the vanes.

  • Patent number: 3945757
Abstract: A turbine type air motor including a rotor and driven spindle having automatic speed regulation. The spindle and rotor have cooperating ports to control the flow of air to the rotor, and the spindle has provision for limited twisting movement within the rotor for moving the ports into and out of register. A biasing spring interposed between the spindle and rotor urges the ports normally out of register when the tool is lightly loaded. An increase in the load imposed upon the spindle causes the spindle to retreat relative to the rotor and against the force of the spring to bring the ports into register, thereby to increase the flow of air so that the torque developed by the rotor increases in step with the torque loading imposed on the spindle to maintain speed. In the preferred embodiment the spindle is of hollow construction and compressed air is fed axially into the hollow for transmission into the rotor through radial ports.
