Side Swinging Barrel Patents (Class 42/12)
  • Patent number: 11802750
Abstract: A safety apparatus for a grenade launcher assembly which provides a dual-way ammunition feed, recognizes the direction automatically without the importance of which direction the user opens the handle in order to prevent the direction selector or movement from reversing and which does not permit opening to the other unselected side for the filling-off phase.

Abstract: A firearm with a stock having an exterior contour that is generally symmetric with respect to opposing end portions, a front edge portion and at least a portion of opposing side surfaces. A barrel extends through the front edge portion of the stock. Two safety release buttons are diametrically opposed to each other with respect to a barrel bore centerline axis and are exposed at a front edge portion of the stock. Two firing mechanism release buttons are each exposed at an exterior surface of the stock at a respective one of the opposing end portions. The firing mechanism actuation buttons are diametrically opposed to each other with respect to the barrel bore centerline axis. Firing of the firearm requires both of the safety release buttons to be depressed thereby allowing either of the firing mechanism actuation buttons to be depressed for firing the firearm.

  • Patent number: 7500326
Abstract: A pistol accommodating rifle length cartridges in a pistol grip magazine by upwardly angling the cartridges in the magazine. The cartridges are successively chambered manually by exposing the topmost cartridge in the magazine in a feed slot, to allow the user to push that cartridge out of the slot, and the cartridge are guided into the exposed chamber of the barrel which has been pivoted out of the frame to a position to one side of the pistol frame ready to receive the cartridge.

  • Patent number: 6481145
Abstract: An attachable grenade launcher is disclosed for installation on a rifle. The launcher has a grenade launching barrel that is pivotable about a stationary pin located near a muzzle of the barrel. The launcher also has a breech housing and a trigger assembly carried by the breech housing. The trigger assembly has a trigger and an impact plate. The launcher has a connection piece with a longitudinal slot. Th connection piece is integrally bound to the breech housing and carries the stationary pin. The connection piece circumferentially encapsulates the grenade launching barrel over at least a part of its length in such a manner that permits the grenade launching barrel to pivot about the stationary pin between a swung out position and a non-swung out position.

  • Patent number: 6460281
Abstract: A single trigger sequential firing mechanism for a double barrel firearm fires the two barrels or chambers successively upon successive trigger actuation, without need for a separate selector switch. The firing pins are driven by linear motion of corresponding pistons or plungers, rather than by arcuate motion of pivoting hammers. The present invention is adaptable to various double barrel gun configurations, but is particularly adaptable for use with over and under double barrel shotguns. Three different embodiments are disclosed, with each having identical parts and components with the exception of the upper portion of the trigger body. The first embodiment fires the two barrels successively upon successive pulls of the trigger. The second embodiment fires the two barrels after a first trigger pull and a subsequent release of the trigger. Finally, a third embodiment fires the two barrels upon successive trigger releases, after the trigger has been pulled.

  • Patent number: 4614051
Abstract: A firearm has a barrel assembly and a breech block pivotally mounted with respect to the barrel assembly. The barrel assembly has a barrel block and a pair of barrels mounted in over and under relationship. The breech block has a generally forwardly projecting water table. Locking elements are provided for retaining the barrel assembly and breech block in desired relative relationship for firing with a portion of the locking elements being on the barrel assembly and a portion being on the breech block. In one embodiment rearwardly projecting key elements on the barrel assembly engage recesses on the breech block. A lever stem cooperates with shell head support members through cam means to urge the shell head support members forwardly when the firearm is in the firing position. Inertia firing pins may be provided in the shell head supports and intermediate firing pins may be provided in the lever stem.

  • Patent number: 4328635
Abstract: A firearm having over and under double barrels in a side break arrangement which could be utilized for shotgun, rifle or handgun. A hinge arrangement for the double barrels comprises a cylindrical portion of the hinge on a main frame which detachably mounts to the other portion of the hinge which is part of a mounting bracket that detachably mounts on the barrels. A cocking lever is operated by barrel motion to move a cocking plate with retracts two separate and independent firing pins that are latched into place for selective release by a single trigger operated successively twice. A safety device includes a shifting lever which is automatically operated upon cocking or opening interposed selectively against the trigger to prevent accidental firing.

  • Patent number: 4283873
Abstract: Sliding movement of the trigger guard of the firearm controls desired aspects of the operation of its firing and breech-locking mechanisms. Improvements are provided in a firing mechanism of the type that is maintained in a cocked condition by a toggle linkage; and in the breech-mounting, shell-extracting, cocking and breech-locking mechanisms of a firearm of the side-opening type.

  • Patent number: 4182065
Abstract: An over-under firearm having at least one shot barrel and a rifle barrel superimposed relative to one another and mounted in a barrel block designed to pivot relative to a breech frame so that the rear ends of the barrels are disposed laterally for loading. The breech frame surrounds the top, bottom and one side of the barrel block, and arcuate ribs and grooves are provided between the top and bottom of the barrel block and the breech frame. A breaking mechanism is provided to displace the barrel block laterally after the barrel block has been unlocked from its operating position in the breech frame. A mechanism is provided for withdrawing the firing pin and cocking the hammers in response to further movement of the barrel block relative to the breech frame.
