The component includes a first outer layer having an A-surface, a second outer layer having a B-surface and a core positioned between the outer layers. The core has a large number of cavities. The outer layers are bonded to the core by press molding. An edge portion of the component is locally crushed by the press molding so that the layers are bonded together to form the sealed, moisture-resistant, A-surface edge.

  • Patent number: 8481142
Abstract: A system and method for monitoring chloride content and concentration induced by a metal etch process is disclosed. A blank metal film is deposited on a semiconductor wafer. A metal etch process is then applied to partially etch the blank metal film on the wafer. The metal etch process exposes the metal film to chlorine. The wafer is then scanned using surface profiling total X-ray reflection fluorescence. A chlorine concentration map is generated that shows quantitative and spatial information about the chlorine on the wafer. Information from the chlorine concentration map is then used to select a value of chlorine concentration for a metal etch process that will not create metal chloride corrosion on a semiconductor wafer.

Abstract: A new blood unit cooling system was designed to cool blood rapidly to about 22° C. and maintain it at about that temperature, even in ambient temperature extremes, for several hours. The system incorporating a preferred eutectic solution including 98% 1-dodecanol, 1.5% myristyl alcohol and 0.5% 1-decanol (having, a melting point of about 23° C.) contained in a sealed flexible polymer layer, was used to cool whole blood-filled bags. The preferred design uses inner and outer containers, each made of transparent polyethylene sheets, where the inner compartments are filled with the solution and sealed, and then placed into each compartment in an outer container, wherein two compartments in the outer container are separated by a flattened and sealed portion of the polyethylene.

Abstract: A knitted spacer fabric having a tightly knitted bottom layer, a more loosely knitted upper layer and linking fibres extending across the space between the lower and upper faces. Settable material, e.g. cement, is introduced into the space between the upper and lower faces and can be caused to set by the addition of a liquid, e.g. water. Until set, the fabric is flexible and can be shaped but after the material in space has set, the fabric is rigid and can be used as a structural element in a wide range of situations. The bottom layer has an extension that extends beyond the upper face and is connected to the upper face by elastic connecting fibres that draw the extension towards the other face, thereby at least partly closing the space at the edge of the cloth and preventing the settable material from spilling out.
