Abstract: A burner assembly for gas-fueled lighters includes a metallic burn chamber rigidly connected to a fuel metering valve. The burner and fuel valve are rigidly connected through an insulated coupling component. This provides a more reliable structure and reduces heat transfer from the burner to the fuel source, reducing vapor lock conditions.

Abstract: A fire-starter device for survival or emergency use has a handle portion and case portion that twist together, to sheath a mischmetal flint rod inside the case, and a seal ring protects the flint rod from environmental moisture. The case has a steel strike plate and a guide channel. The mischmetal flint rod favorably has a composition of cerium—50%, lanthanum—26%, magnesium—10%, praseodymium—3%, neodymium—1%, and iron—10%.

Abstract: A windproof lighter includes a gas directing arrangement including a torch nozzle, a gas nozzle, and a gas directing unit including a torch directing conduit and a gas directing conduit for directing a flow of gas toward the torch nozzle and the gas nozzle respectively. A gas detouring unit is movably mounted to the casing to block up the flow of gas passing through the gas directing conduit while the torch directing conduit is remained open. An ignition system installed into the casing for producing sparks directed toward the gas nozzle to ignite the gas emitted from the gas nozzle to provide a visible flame, so as to ignite the gas emitted from the torch nozzle to provide a torch flame. Therefore, the lighter is capable of providing the torch and visible flames at the same time and providing only the torch flame while operating the gas detouring unit.

Abstract: A hand operated fire starting tool for use as a survival aid and in general outdoor activities such as camping. The tool includes a case, a pyrophoric element mounted to the case for reciprocal and rotational movement between a stored position and an operating position. It also includes means such as a spring for biasing the element toward the operating position and a striker which may be engaged with the element. The tool also includes a cap which is both pivotally and slidably mounted to the case for releasingly securing the element in its stored position.
