Abstract: A dental implant abutment assembly imitates a micro-motion mechanism to direct occlusal forces internally, and uniformly distribute the occlusal forces into the body of an ossoeintegrated dental implant. The micro-motion mechanism is configured to imitate the biomechanical behavior of the periodontal ligament through a compressive action that dampens vertical, horizontal, and angular forces. A compressive ring provides a dampening effect to supportive components of the assembly. A compressive coil redirects vertical forces along a longitudinal axis of the assembly. An implant body osseointegrates into the dental alveolus. A central mobile element seats in the dental body. The compressive coil extends along the central mobile element to absorb vertical forces. Abstract: An artificial tooth or teeth and occlusion-controlling system(s) thereof, wherein information about the situation of occlusion in the mouth of a patient is transmitted to a computer (151) from a biting-pressure sensing element(s) (155) or film(s) incorporated in the present invention, and said computer (151) dictates control-signals to make a driving motor (152) or motors drive and adjust an occlusal surface of said patient in place so as to give a desirable, appropriate functional occlusion to said patient's comfort instantly.

Abstract: An improved dental prostheses includes an implant abutment mounted to an abutment tooth and having an endless O-ring groove formed about the outer axial surface of the implant abutment in a plane generally transverse to the implant abutment axis. The implant abutment has a tapered surface which mates closely with a similarly tapered retainer cavity in the dental prosthesis to frictionally support the same and has a complementary O-ring groove defined in the retainer surface. A resilient O-ring retentive element is fitted over the implant abutment such that the ring cross section is partly received within the implant abutment groove and partly within the retainer groove, thereby forming a resilient interference fit between the dental prosthesis and the implant abutment. The arrangement enables easy removal of the prosthesis for hygiene related activities and application to multiple abutments to support an appliance.

Abstract: An engagement mechanism for dental prostheses that include supporting pins with headed terminations and implant and/or abutment members with cooperative sockets. A dental implant firmly mounted to a user's bone is provided at the distal end with a socket defining a cavity of cooperative dimensions to receive the headed termination. The headed termination is firmly kept in the cavity. In this manner, better utilization of the limited inter dental space is achieved. One way of securing the headed termination is by using a cementitious compound to bind the headed termination. Another way is to use an O-ring to secure the headed termination. The socket can be positioned directly in the distal end of an implant member or in an abutment.

  • Patent number: 6056546
Abstract: Claspless removable partial dentures have a metal bar that connects to a metal framework to which is attached metal occlusal rests. The metal occlusal rests fit into prepared slots in the natural teeth on either side of the edentulous area. This metal framework supports the resilient dental material that bonds the denture teeth in their position and is bonded to the metal framework. This resilient dental material extends into the inward curve of the natural teeth on either side of the edentulous area, and by sliding into the inward curve, the partial is held in position. The metal framework is left open beneath the denture teeth so that each denture tooth can move into the resilient dental material, which then absorbs the force of mastication.

  • Patent number: 6019604
Abstract: A resilient connecting structure for individually and resiliently connecting a dental prosthesis structure to a base component. The connecting structure is adapted to simulate the link provided by a natural periodontal ligament between a natural tooth and a natural healthy gum. The connecting structure thus allows individual three-dimentional freedom of pivotal movement about the base of the prosthesis structure, including rotation about a longitudinal axis of the latter. In one embodiment of the invention, the connecting structure is incorporated in an artificial dental structure that also includes the dental prosthesis and the base component. The dental prosthesis has dental body defining a crown section, a neck section and a root section. The base component has at least one base recess formed therein for receiving a section of said dental prosthesis. The connecting structure includes a membrane made of a resilient membrane material. The membrane is mounted on said root section of said dental prosthesis.
