  • Publication number: 20140170604
Abstract: A coloring system and a manufacturing process for coloring artificial covering stones are provided. A board layout represents a board of artificial covering stones. Several natural stone color patterns are provided, each being different from one another. The natural stone color patterns are associated with selected artificial stones of the board layout. Graphic parameters represent the natural stone color and are converted into coloring instructions. A conveyor conveys the board of artificial covering stones, and a positioning system determines respective positions of the artificial covering stones of the board, relative to a reference position. An in-line coloring device colors the artificial covering stones with the natural stone patterns, according to the coloring instructions and to the positions of the artificial stones. The selected artificial stones colored by the system are thus different from other stones of the board, and have a distinct, natural random-look.

It enables a repetitive patterned sequence of family colour groups to alternate at various levels allowing all colours to lie adjacent to each other and be viewed simultaneously revealing their vibrating relationships. The layout and numbering system allows for development as a tangible chart or software application, where they can be programmed into sequences allowing many charts, colours, templates, relationships to be viewed. The templates consolidate colour for education while businesses/manufacturers can replace with their colours and codes and use as a colour planner.

The method displays the initial color samples or patches corresponding to the initial color selection in a two-dimensional grid and receives additional user input comprising additional natural language commands and a refined axis selection. The embodiments herein revise the initial color selection to a revised color selection based on a color change magnitude, a color change direction, and a color change property. Then, this method matches the revised color selection to the computer program colors to produce refined matching colors. These refined matching colors are displayed as refined color samples or patches in the two-dimensional grid. The axes of the two-dimensional grid can correspond to the refined axis selection and the assigned names can also be displayed on the graphic user interface.

Abstract: A heuristic process for color formula calculation of pigmented shades matched to a target shade, comprising the steps of i) using suitable calibration scales to compile an effect matrix for each of the ingredients included in a coloring system, determining the optical materials parameters of the target shade, iii) selecting a suitable starting formula, iv) determining the color difference between the starting formula and the target shade, v) calculating a first matched color formula while taking account of the effect matrices, vi) repeating steps iv) and v) until an acceptable remaining color difference is reached, wherein the effect matrices are continually updated with shade-relevant information during ongoing operation, achieves an improvement on the existing processes for shade formula calculation, not only in terms of reducing the number of tinting steps needed but also in terms of minimizing the remaining color difference.

Abstract: The hair color simulation system for simulating a dyed hair color that results from dyeing hair with a mixture of two hair color preparations includes a base screen with a first through fifth layers and an intermediate layer. The first through fifth layers and the intermediate layer are superimposed over one another so as to display a simulated hair color that is produced when the first hair line, the second hair line, the colors of the two hair color preparations and the original hair color are displayed on the layers with respective transparencies and superimposed over each other. The RGB values of the superimposed colors produced by the two hair color preparations and the original hair color are stored in data storage sections. Input sections receive choices of the two hair color preparations and a mixing ratio for the simulation.

Abstract: One aspect of the present invention provides a method for systematically arranging paint color samples for convenient browsing and identification of desired colors by shoppers. Paint color sample cards are arranged on a two-dimensional display surface such that colors of similar hue are categorized or grouped together (e.g., along a column). Groups of paint color sample cards having different base hue or color are arranged such that there is a gradual transition between paint colors from one region to the next region. For instance, the colors of sample cards may gradually change from column to column across a two-dimensional display. Additionally, within each color group, paint color sample cards are arranged from most chromatic to least chromatic colors. Another aspect of the invention provides for accent color sample cards to be displayed adjacent to the various base color groups.

Abstract: An assortment of color elements is grouped within a plurality of color families which are organized in accordance with a circular color chart (FIG. 10A) and a columnar chart (FIG. 11-A). Except for the neutral-gray color family, a pair of boundary-hues respectively defines the extent of acceptable hue variation within each group, resulting in an included range of hue within each color family, and an excluded range of hue in between neighboring color families. Variant-hue charts enhance color comparison and selection within each main color family by displaying contrasting variations of all three color attributes, that is, value, saturation, and hue, within a single chart. Variant-hue charts also consolidate color elements into a compact format, and provide a graphical user interface for computer color selection.

The achromatic colors are then arranged in one group on the palette, for instance in order of lightest to darkest. The non web-safe chromatic colors are then grouped together. From this grouping blends of the colors are created. Finally, the web-safe chromatic colors are grouped together. Blends with respect to the web-safe chromatic colors are created and then grouped on the color palette.
