Abstract: Apparatus for supporting and containing a dental prosthesis during the micro-etching thereof is disclosed. The apparatus includes a framework, a holding mechanism carried by the framework for holding the prosthesis in a position which permits micro-etching, and a flexible hood, for example, a disposable plastic bag, which has an open end sized to slidably receive the framework into the hood while holding the prosthesis. The open end is sealable while the framework is so received, and the hood is transparent to permit viewing of the prosthesis within the hood. The hood is sliceable with a knife edge to provide a small slit which permits the tip of a micro-etching tool to extend into the hood. Alternately, the hood may be pre-slit for the same purpose.
