Rotary Cleaner Patents (Class 460/98)
  • Patent number: 11771001
Abstract: A method and device for harvesting grain crops is provided. A threshing method includes separating grain from harvested material, which is fed to a threshing phase after a gathering process taking place against a direction of working travel. During threshing, the harvested material is processed as the respective grain crops and admixtures in the form of straw and chaff such that essential, dischargeable admixtures are separated from the grain crops, and these, in the form of a mixture with chaff or similar fine particles, are fed as a grain/chaff stream to a final cleaning. The grains free of these residual admixtures are subsequently collected as grain crops. During at least one feed phase preceding the final cleaning, a transport movement is imparted to the at least one grain/chaff stream with the transport movement having a component in a vertical direction and a component in the direction of working travel.

  • Patent number: 9370796
Abstract: A particle separator is provided that separates small particulate from large particulate from an intermixed material feed. The separator finds particular utility in the field of separation of thermoplastic regrind particulate from intermixed debris which constitutes a smaller particulate relative to the thermoplastic regrind. Embodiments of the separator use a rotary shaft for mounting an spiral blade fed by a material feeder bin that meters material into the separator. The spiral blade is configured so that the material moves along a peripheral mesh screen to separate any smaller particulate that passes through the mesh screen leaving the large particulate to traverse though the separator, while small particulate is sieved therefrom the surrounding mesh and into a separate collection stream.

  • Patent number: 8876927
Abstract: A radiator screen arrangement (10) for a combine harvester is provided. A screen (12) through which air, which is to pass through a radiator, is drawn by a fan. Rotating means (16) are provided for rotating the screen. Blanking means (18), past which the screen is rotated, provides a blanked off area of the screen which is not subject to the induction pressure of the fan and from which particles can therefore be more easily removed. The arrangement is characterised in that the blanking means has a leading edge (18a) which is of generally spiral shape so that the particles on the outer surface of the screen which enter the blanked-off area can reach the outer periphery (12d) of the rotating screen without being exposed to the induction pressure of the fan and hence have an improved chance of being detached from the screen.

Abstract: A fan powered extractor system for a harvester, such as a sugarcane harvester, utilizes a rotary extractor screen larger than an air flow path to the fan, that moves through the air flow path such that the air flows through the screen to collect airborne leaves and other crop residue thereon, and carries them from the air flow and deposits them on the ground beside or behind the harvester or on another receiver without passing through the fan. The extractor screen can also pass through the exhaust air flow from the fan for blowing remaining collected residue therefrom, and the location of deposition of the leaves is optionally selectable.

  • Patent number: 8097050
Abstract: A vacuum apparatus rotatable about an axis through a filter screen for continually removing contaminants, which utilizes an asymmetrical vacuum arm supported by a center hub, and large longitudinally extending asymmetrical vacuum orifices in portions of the arm on opposite sides of the hub, operable for removing large elements of debris, trash and the like from the screen. One of the arm portions cleans a radial outer region of the screen, and the other cleans an inner region, the arm portions being generally even in mass for balance. A knife disposed on the screen cleans and cooperates with a brush on the arm for breaking up larger elements of trash. The arm is also manually removable via a snap together vacuum seal joint, for service and cleaning.

Abstract: A two-row cane harvester 10 simultaneously harvests two rows of sugar cane in a green tropical cane field. Gatherer chains 62, 64 lift fallen cane stalks upwardly and support the fallen cane stalks as the harvester 10 moves through the cane field. A pair of topper mechanisms 54 top the cane stalks while base cutters 80 base cut the cane. A pair of transversely spaced turnaround devices 62 each move the cane transversely past the respective topper mechanism and toward a centerline 22 of the harvester, and thrust the topped cane stalks in a direction away from the harvester movement such that the topped cane stalks do not interfere with the cane moving toward the topper mechanisms by the gatherer chains. Base cut cane is received base first into the harvester intake.

  • Patent number: 6159094
Abstract: A lay-down bar structure having one or more resilient polyurethane flaps supported by a rigid bar so that the edges of the flaps are offset slightly from the periphery of the primary cleaning drum of a cotton cleaner. The flaps are slotted and can be adjusted relative to the drum periphery. The flaps can also be stacked, and the number of flaps can be increased or decreased for a corresponding change in cleaner aggressiveness. The resilient flaps flex to allow large foreign objects to pass between the lay-down bar and the drum to thereby reduce drum damage, shock loads and plugging problems.

A pair of topper mechanisms 54 top the cane stalks while base cutters 80 base cut the cane. Base cut cane is received base first into the harvester intake. The cane is cleaned in a whole stalk condition with a cleaning mechanism 92 that includes a plurality of rotating tines 100 moving in a direction to engage and force the cane leaves toward a base of the cane stalk, thereby efficiently stripping the cane leaves. An extractor blower 106 removes the leaves from the rotating tines and the cleaned cane. A stalk cutter mechanism 120, 122 may be adjusted to cut the cleaned cane stalks into selected billet lengths. Cane is preferably fed into the cutter mechanism at a speed greater than the ground speed of the harvester moving through the field. Another blower or fan may be used to remove remaining leaves from the billets.
