Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for applying a uniformly-distributed pattern of stripes (8) on a component (6) of a large rotary machinery, such as an industrial generator. A method is provided that comprises measuring the circumferential area of the component (6) with a measuring element (14). The precise circumference is indicated and a desired number of pattern segments is determined. The circumference is divided by this number to produce equally spaced segments. This is then transferred to the rotor shaft (6) by marking on the measuring element (12) the number of segments and making a copy of the markings onto a second strip (14). These strips are then aligned on the circumferential area and cross strips (22) are placed at each of the segment marks (16). The segment areas not covered by the cross strips (24) are then painted in a color that is optically distinguishable from the non-painted regions.

Abstract: A prosthetic ankle having an elongated tubular shank, which provides bending. The shank is part of a monolithic ankle with the lower portion being a flexure joint. The flexure joint has a flexing post defined by an entrapment kerf. The entrapment kerf allows relatively free movement of flexure within defined limits in axial rotation, dorsi and plantar flexion, inversion and eversion. The kerf surfaces provide resistance to axial rotation during dorsiflexion.

  • Patent number: 4786536
Abstract: A composite structure comprises at least one ply comprising approximately parallel unidirected twines comprising helically-configured matrix-impregnated continuous strands of filament reinforcements to provide a flanged composite cantilever spring which serves as the principal constituent of a coupling structure. An interior ply of a coupling structure body member comprises unidirected longitudinal twines configured at a body member extremity to provide a flange member connected to a cantilever spring. An exterior ply is disposed transversely of and superimposed upon the interior ply to provide the cantilever spring hinge line. The composite cantilever spring can be constructed to deflect about either a straight or curved hinge line. A preferred tubular form of the coupling structure comprises at least one end configured as a polygonal array of flanged cantilever springs which serve as the socket end of a spring-lock coupling used to connect mating flanged spigot-end structures.

  • Patent number: 4718879
Abstract: A device for fitting and adjusting an encoder comprising a first inclined plate and a second inclined plate joined together rotatably between an encoder fitting surface and a fitting flange, a joined surface between the two inclined plates being slightly inclined to a surface orthomic to the axis of a rotation shaft while remaining surfaces on the opposite side of each plate being orthogonal to the axis, so that the rotation shaft of a rotatable body is in parallel to a rotations shaft of the encoder by adjustment of either plate or both.

  • Patent number: 4681201
Abstract: A clutch disc having a spline hub spline fitting onto a main drive shaft, characterized by that the clutch disc is equipped with a forced inclining mechanism, in which a spline hole of the spline hub is forcedly inclined in relation to an axis of the main drive shaft under a condition that a facing surface is pressed on a flywheel, and the spline hole of the spline hub is kept parallel with the axis of the main drive shaft under a condition that the facing surface is not pressed thereon.

  • Patent number: 4634396
Abstract: Elastic joint for the transmission of motion between two shafts, comprising two supports, a driving support and a driven support, associated with the shafts and at least two arms for each support. The joint comprises at least one single element for connecting the two arms, this element being in the form of a closed annular strap of inextensible and flexible material. The strap can be disposed on a plane separating the two supports at a position substantially central to the joint so as to form a polygon whose vertices are the ends of the arms belonging alternatively to the driving support and driven support.
