  • Patent number: 4739582
Abstract: The subject holder and attachment bracket comprise a holder for floral arrangements and a bracket for attaching the holder to the end of a support structure. The holder is an open topped container having at least one flat side. There is a rectangular opening in the flat side near the rim, its long axis being in a horizontal plane. The bracket comprises a strut portion and a clip portion. The strut portion has first and second sides. A hook near the top of the first side engages the opening in the container and holds the container flat side against the first side. The hook and opening are shaped so that the motion of the container relative to the strut portion is highly restricted. A protuberance extends from the second side of the strut near its lower end. The clip portion extends from the top of the strut portion in a direction away from the first side of the strut. It then curves downward and back toward the strut and ends with a small curve in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 4415137
Abstract: Cantilever attachment method and apparatus are described. A resilient portion of a cantilever assembly holds a first part of an attachment device. The second part of the attachment device is positioned on a side of a post opposite the cantilever assembly. The attachment to the resilient means is positioned opposite an intermediate portion of a base on the cantilever assembly. The base lies against the post when assembled. The cantilever assembly is first tipped upward and the attachment is joined to the resilient portion. Tipping the cantilever assembly downward compresses the resilient portion. Continued rotation of the cantilever assembly downward slightly raises the cantilever assembly along the post and slightly relaxes the compression of the resilient portion, thereby creating an over-the-center clamp.

  • Patent number: 4404767
Abstract: A plant growing apparatus for growing plants having a tube for a rooting medium and openings in the tube for plants grown in the rooting medium to pass therethrough. First and second end members cooperate with open ends of the tube and have openings therein communicating with the rooting medium. One end member has a reservoir to contain water at an essentially constant level, and a support member extends between the two end members to locate them relative to each other. A flexible web extending from the tube is secured to the support member and restrains the tube against excessive relative movement. A wick extends between the end members and is disposed generally adjacent a side of the tube which is adjacent the web and the support member. In one embodiment, the plants pass generally radially outwardly through openings spaced along a side wall of the tube.

  • Patent number: 4373695
Abstract: An apparatus is provided which facilitates the controlled rotative positioning of a suspended planter. The apparatus is comprised of a cylindrical outer member and an internal member in sliding engagement with said outer member and coaxially positioned therewith. The internal member is provided with two spaced arrays of teeth so arranged that, when one member is upwardly displaced with respect to the other member, bearing means associated with said outer member induce rotative motion of one of said members. Restoring means acting between said members causes said upward displacement when downward force is removed therefrom. Attachment means associated with each member facilitates suspension of the apparatus from an overhead support and suspension of a planter from that member which undergoes rotative motion.

  • Patent number: 4325202
Abstract: Knock-down plant pot separable into component parts to free the plant that it contains without affecting the radicular system of the plant. It is made up of a plant-retaining wall portion formed by arcuate segments that abut one another, a holder being provided to releasably lock the segments in firm abutting relationship, this holder including locking strips that are provided outwardly of the wall segments, each strip having a groove at its lower end. The pot further includes a saucer portion for holding the wall portion. This saucer portion has an upstanding peripheral skirt and a series of horizontal thread portions projecting inwardly from the skirt and capable of being snugly received into the grooves at the bottom of the strips so that the wall portion may be held firm in the saucer portion. These thread portions are spaced from one another a distance sufficient to allow the strips to be inserted therebetween prior to be rotated for engagement of the thread portions into the grooves.

  • Patent number: 4314646
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a device for hanging plants which comprises a pair of spaced board-like members. Disposed perpendicularly between and joining the boards are dowels. The dowels have apertures therethru for receiving and supporting a rod. The dowels are so spaced such that the rod passes through aligned apertures in the dowels. The rod is disposed at least midway within and between the spaced boards so that the hook of a hanger for a hanging plant, or the like, suspended from the rod, is substantially hidden from view.In an alternative embodiment, a fluorescent fixture may be disposed about the dowels so as to provide lighting for the plants.

  • Patent number: 4270696
Abstract: Basic form is a conical reservoir, small end up and provided with a hook whereby the irrigator may be suspended from the same bracket used to support the hanging basket. A multiplicity of small openings downwardly through the base of the irrigator permits a slow dripping of a solution stored in the reservoir, and a larger opening at the top keeps atmospheric pressure on the top of the solution. In one refinement the base is provided with a number of downwardly extending channels to which the small openings may be limited. In another modification the distribution network is separated from the reservoir and is disposed just below it. The two parts are normally connected for flow by a plug connector which has a second or raised position wherein the flow passages are sealed to prevent any flow.
