Abstract: The block type CVT belt according to the present invention comprises at least one endless load carrier having tensile members. A plurality of blocks are transversely engaged with the load carrier in a lengthwise direction of the belt. The center of gravity of each block is asymmetrically located in each block. Each block has thermoset or thermoplastic over-molding. The over-molding is attached to the metal block by use of an adhesive. The preparation of the metal reinforcing member is accomplished by mechanical tumbling means, as opposed to chemical preparation. Each block also comprises at least one slot for receiving the load carrier. Each slot having an upper concave surface and a lower surface having a complex shape. The upper concave surface receives a corresponding convex surface or tooth on an upper surface of the tensile member. Each slot is provided with a complex radius between a central pillar and an upper and lower arm in order to avoid stress risers.

  • Patent number: 6165087
Abstract: A figure-eight shaped drive belt for use within a pulley system, including a drive belt having a preformed figure-eight configuration. The figure-eight configuration includes a first circular-shaped loop and a second circular-shaped loop, such that the first and second circular-shaped loops are each integrally connected at two curved center sections to form an endless drive belt having the figure-eight shaped configuration. The figure-eight shaped drive belt is made from a non-expandable plastic resin material selected from the group consisting of polyurethane, polyolefins, styrenic, polyesther and other thermoplastic resins. Alternatively, the invention also relates to elliptical and oval shaped drive belts for similar uses.

  • Patent number: 6159121
Abstract: Toothed belt in which the toothed part is covered with a fabric consisting of a warp and a weft consisting of weft threads formed by an elastic thread, preferably made from polyurethane, acting as the core, and by at least a pair of composite threads wound on the elastic thread. Each composite thread comprises a thread with high heat resistance and high strength, preferably made from para-aromatic polyamide, and a covering thread, preferably made from nylon, wound on the thread with high heat resistance and high strength. The structure of the weft of the toothed belt is such that each thread with high heat resistance and high strength can be completely isolated in such a way that it is not damaged by the friction of the belt against the teeth of the pulley, ensuring a greater durability of the belt. The structure with a pair of composite threads also makes it possible to increase the breaking load of the fabric.

Abstract: In a V-ribbed belt used in a manner of bringing the back face as well as the bottom face into contact with pulleys, a hiding layer for hiding the texture of the belt is formed on a part of the side faces of the belt body, and a mark indicating the history of belt manufacturing is provided on the hiding layer. This prevents the occurrence of inconveniences resulting from the formation of the mark on the belt back face and keeps the mark recognizable for a long time.

Abstract: The present invention provides an endless belt including a reinforcing load-carrying layer which is constituted by an even number of cord-like load-carrying members (5, 6). The load-carrying members extend within the load carrying member having a load-carrying layer in a plurality but at least more than one full turn each. In order to balance unbalanced force components produced by the load-carrying members having a pitch angle, the load-carrying members are arranged in pairs. Each load-carrying member would in one transverse direction has a corresponding load-carrying member wound in the opposite transverse direction within they load-carrying layer. Only within the same longitudinal transition zone (A) of the load-carrying layer the load carrying members form a pitch angle each with respect to the longitudinal direction of the belt.
