Abstract: A flow control gate system that comprises a first and second elongated barrier members defining a passageway between a first area and a second area. The gate system also comprises a plurality of narrow beam presence sensors with substantially constant spacing therebetween defining a linear array mounted along the first barrier member and defining a presence detection beam orientation crosswise and substantially perpendicular to the passageway. The gate system further comprises a controller electrically connected to the plurality of narrow beam presence sensors. The controller implements an operating program to process signals from the plurality of narrow beam presence sensors and define valid detection periods to determine that an item is detected when a detection period is equal to or longer than a predetermined value and invalid detection periods interpreted as no detection when a detection period is shorter than the predetermined value. A flow control method is further provided.

Abstract: A system for integrating industrial doors into a total system for monitoring and control of a building, warehouse or group of buildings. Controllers for each door motor have absolute position shaft encoders that provide the exact shaft position to a controller system that allows real-time control of torque and current. Each motor controller can communicate bidirectionally over a wireless (or wired) network with other controllers and/or with one or more designated locations. Each controller can provide data over the network from any sensor or data collection device at the controller, motor or door. A program executing on a PC, laptop, tablet, smartphone can communicate with any or all of the controllers, integrate control of multiple doors, perform statistical analysis on collected data from each door and provide real-time security functions as well as long term trend data, energy usage and loss and predictive analytics.

Abstract: Monitoring apparatus for monitoring a movement element pivoted between open and closed states of an opening to be closed, the apparatus having a sensor for detecting an object and for monitoring a spatial angle originating at or near the rotation axis. The sensor is fitted at or near the rotation axis and includes a transmitter and receiver for transmitting and receiving radiation within the spatial angle. The sensor emits detection signals generated by the receiver when radiation is detected. The monitoring apparatus includes an evaluation unit that evaluates the detection signals depending on the angular position of the detected radiation in the spatial angle and determines whether an object has been detected and/or the position of the detected object. The evaluation unit draws a distinction between the movement element and an object depending on the current angular position of the movement element.
