  • Publication number: 20140311032
Abstract: To further reduce the space required for installation, and to facilitate installation of a device for opening and closing a door by the stepping force of a pedestrian, the door-opening/closing device includes a step plate (2) provided with multiple bearings, a link (5) whose one end is coupled to a bearing (6) of the step plate (2), with the bearing (6) disposed in a metal part fixed on the floor and coupled to the other end of the link (5). The step plate (2) remains horizontal when stepped on, and moves downward in an arcuate manner in the direction in which the pedestrian is walking. The door (1) is opened and closed using this displacement (i.e., the step plate's downward movement) as a motive force. The return mechanism of the step plate (2) is composed of a link extender in which the other end side of the link (5) is extended in the direction opposite from the step plate (2), and a weight (7) that is axially supported on the extending-end part of the link extender.

  • Patent number: 8510992
Abstract: An automatic gate opening device is claimed comprising: a gate drive axis (134), movable between a gate closed position and a gate open position; a treadle (102) and a rechargeable energy storage means (16, 118). The device also comprises an energy conversion means to convert stored energy into rotational movement of the drive axis (134) in a gate opening and energy conversion means to convert stored energy into rotational movement of the drive axis in a gate closing direction. The treadle (102) is configured such that, with the drive axis (134) in its gate open position, a single actuation of said treadle (102) recharges the energy storage means with sufficient energy to move the drive axis from its gate open position to its gate closed position and back to its gate open position.

  • Patent number: 7861461
Abstract: A door opening and closing device for a slide door, which can be horizontally open and close the slide door by application of a light load and which can be constructed and maintained at low costs. The door opening and closing device has a transmission mechanism for converting through a lever (31) the amount of settlement of a tread plate (21) placed on floor surfaces at positions in front and back of the slide door (12), into a predetermined displacement amount. The tread plate (21) is weight-wise balanced such that the transmission mechanism and settlement of the tread plate due to the weight of an adjustment weight (W) causes the tread plate (21) to float through the lever (31). Up-down movement of the long transmission member (32) presses a drive rotation body (42) to an open door rail (41), and a component force of the pressing force allows the slide door (12) to be opened by application of a light load.

  • Patent number: 6834618
Abstract: A gate assembly for an animal passageway has two barriers that, when in use, are in close proximity to each other in a closed position and can be moved in opposing directions to each other to be in an open position. The operation of the gate assembly to the open position is achieved by an operator using an operator-activated control mechanism. At least one barrier is configured so that when in the open position it does not intrude into the passageway and activation of the control mechanism is external to the passageway. The gate assembly is maintained in the open position until the operator operates the control mechanism to close the grate assembly. When the assembly is in the open position one barrier is in an upper position with respect to the other. The barrier are pivotally attached to a support at separate pivot points.

  • Patent number: 5572830
Abstract: A foot-operated, window-raising device for a window having a sliding sash, with the window being positioned a predetermined distance from a support surface. The foot-operated, window-raising device includes at least one pulley mounted to a frame member adjacent to the window and a moveable platform. A cord is threaded through the pulley and a first end is attached to the sliding sash. The cord is secured to the platform such that movement of the platform in a first direction causes the cord to open the sliding sash. The cord has a predetermined length which positions the platform between the window and the support surface at a height which is accessible by a user's foot. By stepping on the moveable platform, the platform moves in a first direction causing the cord to open the sliding sash.

  • Patent number: 5067276
Abstract: A semi-automatic gate may be opened from a vehicle by pulling on a line attached to a counterbalance control mechanism. The counterbalance control mechanism comprises a cylinder having a damper-controlled flow of water arrangement which allows an enclosed quantity of water to shift when the gate is opened and to then slowly return past the damper to effect a subsequent gate closing. Water is also used within the gate support structure to provide an additional shifting of weight when the gate is opened or closed.
