  • Patent number: 11725453
Abstract: A barricade used to obstruct the gap between a garage door, weather stripping, a threshold surface and a door frame. The barricade successfully prevents pests from breaching the barricade. The barricade uses a spring assist with low displacement force in order to conform to the changing downward or upward angle when a garage door is being operated. It also includes smooth ceramic or rubber that is magnetized to prevent chaffing to the garage door surface. This barrier stays in-place or rotates relative to the garage door face when encountering foreign objects in the path of the moving garage door. Alternatively, the barriers may be constructed of overlapping and/or abutting material configured to obstruct gaps at door frames and/or at threshold surfaces where a weather stripping and/or weather-stripping bulb provide inadequate obstruction.

Abstract: A pet door having decorative and customizable aesthetic features. The pet door includes subframe assemblies that are connected to each other with fasteners that extend through the aperture defined by the door. The pet door can be adapted to fit doors of various sizes with a modular core frame. The core frame also includes a plurality of core members, each of which has one or more core elements. The core members extend laterally between the first and second subframe assemblies and defining a passageway through the door. Decorative frames are releasably attached to the subframe assemblies and can be removed or replaced, whereas the subframe assemblies remain fixed to each other and the door. A security panel can be secured to one of the subframe assemblies to prevent animals and intruders from entering the residence through the pet door.

Abstract: A window or door assembly includes a main frame formed from extrusions of rigid plastics material, and the main frame supports at least one movable sash frame also formed from extrusions of rigid plastics material and enclosing a glass or glazing panel. One of the sash frame members supports a first member of a permanent magnet assembly for movement with the sash frame, and the magnet assembly includes a second member supported between an inner wall and an outer wall of an adjacent main frame member. The second member of the magnet assembly is positioned to provide a magnetic attraction with the first member of the magnet assembly and through the inner wall of the main frame member to form a positive weather seal between the sash frame and the main frame when the sash frame and the glazing panel are in a closed position.

In an activated condition, i.e. upon the upward and downward movement of the window glass, smoother upward and downward movement of the window glass is enabled, thereby eliminating noise due to frictional contact between the window glass and the weatherstrip. In an inactivated or stopped condition of the window glass, the inside walls of the weatherstrip are supportedly brought into close contact with the surfaces of the window glass, thereby also eliminating noise due to rattling of the window glass caused by external factors such as wind, etc.

One leading edge has a triangular cross-section, while the other has a cross-section similar to a parallelogram. To further the reliability of the door seal, a plurality of magnets with corresponding magnet attracting plates may be attached along the leading edges. Alternatively, both leading edges may have at least one magnet aligned with a magnet on the other edge. With the double magnet configuration, the use of multi-pole magnets is necessary. The magnets also help reduce the bounce between the door panels, which may be closed roughly, and increase the force required to separate the door panels when closed.
