The partitions slide into and out of confronting relationships with each other. The partitions engage each other at upper and lower locations and further at a medial location where an elongate member of one partition is received in a tube engaged to the other partition. A threaded piece upon being turned brings pressure to bear upon an end of the tube such that the partitions can be incrementally expanded apart and thereby pressurized between two locations within the home so as to block off one portion of the home. The gate is journaled to a vertically running frame member which serves as the swinging and sliding axis for the gate.

Abstract: Protection has been critical to residential and commercial owners for thousands of years. This is still so, though possibly more so, in today world. Stationary Burglar bars placed over residential and commercial property windows provide a readily visible sign of security. This sign serves both as a deterrent to would-be thieves and an assurance of safety to property owners. As criminal activity has increased, utilization of burglar bars has expanded in cities and towns across the entire United States in response to the ever-increasing threat. Unfortunately, however successful as a security measure, Burglar bars have also proved to be dangerous. First, stationary burglar bars can create death traps or lead to severe injuries for property occupants by blocking escape in the event of a fire. Second, Fire rescue and EMS personnel often encounter obstacles specific to stationary burglar bars that impede their rescue and/or firefighting efforts, as well as threatening their personal safety.

Abstract: A fastener device for releasably securing an object within an opening formed in a structure comprises a first fastening member and a second fastening member each having a pair of legs which are oriented at an angle relative to one another. A coupling element is movable along one of the legs of at least one of the first and second fastening members. One leg of each fastening member is inserted into a hole formed in the structure surrounding the opening allowing the other leg to pivot, preferably in a trochoidal motion, until the pivoting legs align with one another at which time the coupling element may be moved into engagement with the two pivoting legs to releasably connect the fastening members together in position to secure the object relative to the opening.

Abstract: A colonial storm shutter assembly with improved impact resistance includes shutter blade elements having a corrugated configuration that exhibits superior structural strength and bending resistance while providing an attractive face. Triple, double and single shutter blade elements overlap to provide enhanced structural strength and simplify assembly. Side frame structures include a reinforcing portion on the outside wall which provides increased strength particularly in the miter joint with top and bottom frame structures. A storm bar includes a center storm bar clip which bolts to the side frames of two shutter panels when in the closed configuration to provide enhanced structural rigidity. Center fastening angles are bolted to the side and top/bottom frames at both the top and bottom where the two shutter panels meet in the closed configuration to provide further structural strength and resistance to opening.

Abstract: A do-it-yourself non-permanent hurricane panel supporting and securing device designed to allow property owner selection and installation of a variety of readily available storm panel materials over glass doors and windows as a means of protection from hurricane winds and associated flying debris. The system provides a base plate device for supporting and securing the lower edge of plywood and other hurricane panel materials available following hurricane alerts or warnings. Readily available owner selected channels or tracks engage the upper edge of the panel materials. The system is designed to allow property owners of multi-level apartments and condominiums to install hurricane panels over glass doors and windows with provisions for the installer to complete the installation from inside the glass door or window being protected.

  • Patent number: 7780195
Abstract: Protective covers for cab guards or racks which extend vertically from the front rail of a truck bed behind the rear window of the truck cab are disclosed. The protective covers may be molded to fit any shape or size of truck bed rack. In one embodiment, the protective cover includes a generally horizontal top section which extends to two generally vertical side sections. Additional sections are typically provided between the side sections to provide a barrier that protects the rear window of the truck cab. When the protective cover is installed, it covers most of the surfaces of the truck bed rack, except the forward-facing surface of the rack located adjacent to the truck cab. Thus, the protective cover provides protection to essentially all exposed surfaces of the truck bed rack, while allowing easy installation.

Abstract: A security grill for a security institution has an air inlet face, an air outlet face, and zigzag channels extending from a point adjacent the inlet face toward the outlet face. The zigzag channels are defined by slats which are bent at least twice in alternating directions. The zigzag channels are divided into segments each having a cross-sectional width. The segments adjacent the air outlet face have a cross-sectional width less than any of the other segments along the channel. The slats are bent at certain angles which are larger than those of conventional security grills. Corners are created along each slat as a result of bending the slats in alternating directions.
