With Minute Size Change Of Formed Tube Patents (Class 493/271)
  • Patent number: 11654649
Abstract: A paper tube making apparatus includes a fixed rod, a paper tape winding mechanism, a glue applying device, a length measurement unit, and a hot airflow generation unit. The length measurement unit measures a conveying speed of a paper tape, and the glue applying device is operable to coat glue on the paper tape. The hot airflow generation unit is located downstream of the length measurement unit and the glue applying device and is operable to adjust the flow rate and temperature of a hot airflow according to the conveying speed of the paper tape. The hot airflow generation unit blows the hot airflow generated thereby toward the paper tape to control the extent of drying of the glue, so that the extent of drying of glue coated on the paper tape is not affected by the environment temperature and humidity and the quality of the paper tube so fabricated is enhanced.

  • Patent number: 6052970
Abstract: The invention is to provide a method and a device, etc. for molding tubes, free from any fear of the web being broken, which do not generate any wrinkle on a web when molding a plate-like web to rectangular parallelpiped packaging containers via a tubular web. In a tube molding method of the invention for molding a plate-like web to a tubular web while transferring the former along the roller surface formed by a plurality of rollers 11 through 13 of the molding roller 4, a roller supporting plate 16 is turned by a tightening member 29 while being position-regulated by a roller 25 attached to the roller attaching arm 23 so that web is transferred on the basis of the hypothetical center axis line (Point X) of the tubular web, which is formed by the roller surface constituted by the rollers 11 through 13, wherein the web in the lengthwise direction can be accurately transferred so that the same web takes a predetermined orientation of the rollers 11 through 13.

  • Patent number: 5501063
Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for reducing the force required to expel a catamenial tampon from a tampon applicator. The tampon applicator is also disclosed. The tampon applicator includes a first member which is capable of housing an absorbent tampon. The first member has an inside diameter, first and second spaced apart ends, and an insertion tip formed adjacent to the first end. The insertion tip at least partially closes the first end of the first member and facilitates insertion of the tampon applicator into a woman's vagina. The insertion tip is opened, expanded and reclosed prior to positioning the tampon in the first member. This action allows the insertion tip to be reopened with a minimum amount of expulsion force. The apparatus includes a first punch having an outside diameter which is sized slightly less than the inside diameter of the first member. This enables the first punch to slide within the first member from the second end toward the first end.

  • Patent number: 5468207
Abstract: A paint roller having a tubular core formed of thermoplastic material. The thermoplastic material being in the form of a multiplicity of spirally wound plies. The multiplicity of plies comprising an outer ply surrounding and in continuous contact with an inner ply. The plies are in general parallelism with one another and fused to one another in the absence of adhesive. A fabric cover overlies the core and is heat fused to the underlying core in the absence of adhesive.

  • Patent number: 5106356
Abstract: The invention provides a method and apparatus for the manufacture of helically wound paperboard tubes having a highly uniform outside diameter. The method of the invention involves the application of controlled compressive force to at least one of the paperboard plies fed to a helical winding operation in order to control the thickness of the ply or plies and thereby control the outside diameter of the helically wound tube. In one preferred apparatus embodiment of the invention, the compressive force applied to the paperboard ply is applied via a pair of cooperating compression rolls. The nip between the two cooperating rolls is controllably varied by mounting one of the rolls for rotation about a shaft which is rotatable about an eccentric axis which is parallel to and offset from the axis of rotation of the roll. The rotation of the shaft thus causes the roll to move toward or away from the other cooperating roll and thereby varies the nip spacing between the rolls.

  • Patent number: 4373928
Abstract: A composite can construction wherein the body wall, adjacent either one or both cap receiving ends thereof, is inwardly compressed to reduce the outside diameter of the tubular body while maintaining the inside diameter. The compression, reducing the thickness of the body wall, also densifies the material thereof without effecting the interior of the container or the structural integrity thereof. The compressed area extends along the length of the container body a distance sufficient to project substantially beyond the bead formed as a metal end cap is seamed to the body, thus providing a recess for facilitating accommodating of the driving wheel of a conventional can opener. The formed bead, utilizing the pre-compressed body portion and the denser material thereof, is relatively narrower and stiffer than the bead conventionally obtained upon the sealing of a metal end cap to a composite tubular body.

  • Patent number: RE32127
Abstract: A composite container body having metal ends secured thereto by means of conventional crimping, and intended for opening by use of any of the various types of toothed driving wheel can openers presently in service. In a particularly preferred embodiment this is accomplished by compressing and densifying the end portion or portions of the composite container body a sufficient distance along its length to eliminate or at least minimize any interference between the toothed driving wheel of the can opener and the exterior of the container body. A weakening score line is preferably provided around the periphery of the metal end to be opened to even further reduce the resistance to cutting encountered by the cutter element as the toothed driving wheel advances said cutter element about the periphery of the container.
