By configuring the flame-retardant bedding product so that it is composed of a batting and a ticking for covering the batting and that the batting comprises a cellulose fiber (A), a polyester fiber (B), and a halogen-containing fiber (C) as essential components, the bedding product is caused to achieve the above-described object. In addition to the excellent flame retardance, the bedding product of the present invention is allowed to have excellent cushiony properties, since a large amount of a polyester fiber can be used therein because the amount of a halogen-containing fiber used therein is relatively small.

The coating comprises a polymeric carrier containing an effective amount of a fungicide and/or bacteriocide, an effective amount of a flame retardant, and a filler which also functions to enhance the flame retardant properties of the fabric.

    Abstract: A fire resistant lap protection blanket (20) to be placed across the lap of the driver or passenger of a vehicle to protect clothing from tobacco burns or soiling includes a fire resistant material dimensioned to substantially cover the lap to interrupt debris dropping thereon. A lower pocket (25) is open upwardly below the knees to receive and contain debris collecting on the fire resistant material. A foam backing layer (30) disposed upon the bottom surface of the fabric isolates the lap of the user from hot debris. First and second fastening strips (40, 42) respectively attached to an upper corner of the fabric or foam layer and an arm rest (44) anchor the blanket to the arm rest to prevent unintentional removal of the blanket from the vehicle. The strips (40, 42) are preferably of a quick release type so that the blanket can be removed from the vehicle.

A treating agent, preferably a fluorinated hydrocarbon, is present in an amount sufficient to render the composite structure hydrophobic and oleophobic.

    Abstract: An improved mattress includes a composite made of a layer of a fire retardant material capable of providing a heat barrier bonded to a layer of high tensile strength material, such as fiberglass fabric. The composite encloses at least most and generally practically all of the flammable ingredients of the mattress. When exposed to a fire, the fire retardant material chars, thereby creating a heat shield that protects the inside of the mattress while the high tensile strength material holds the mattress together and prevents the mattress from bursting open thereby exposing the flammable ingredients thereof to the fire.The composite of the present invention is made by bonding a fire-retardant material capable of providing a heat barrier to a high tensile strength material.
