Abstract: A patient support apparatus comprising a base, an intermediate frame arranged for movement relative to the base, a support deck disposed on the intermediate frame to provide support for a patient, and a telescoping assembly operatively attached to the intermediate frame. The telescoping assembly comprises a support movable between a collapsed position and an extended position, a lock operable to releasably hold the support in the extended position, and an accessory manually movable by a user relative to the support between a stowed position and a use position. The accessory comprises a deactivator operable to deactivate the lock remotely from the user in response to the user manually moving the accessory relative to the support toward the stowed position thereby enabling movement of the support from the extended position to the collapsed position.

Abstract: An apparatus for aiding a pet in descent and ascent of a bed includes a sleeve configured to be positioned between a mattress and a mattress support on a bed, and a set of steps or ramp sized to fit within the sleeve and configured to be pulled from one end of the sleeve and to extend toward a floor to provide ease of ascent and descent of a pet to a top of the mattress.

Abstract: A bed with an exercise function includes: an upper exercise arm which is embedded in an insertion groove formed in a front surface or peripheral part of the head part, has a horizontal bar and leg parts extending downward from both ends of the horizontal bar, and is rotatable to protrude forward by a rotary support part provided at a lower end of the leg part; and a rotation stopping part which is coupled to the upper exercise arm and stops rotation of the upper exercise arm in a state in which the upper exercise arm protrudes forward at a predetermined angle.

Abstract: A telescoping assembly for use on a patient support apparatus. The telescoping assembly comprises an accessory and a telescoping support slidable to extend the accessory. A locking device releasably holds the telescoping support in the extended position. The accessory is manually movable by a user between a stowed position and a use position. The accessory comprises a deactivator portion operable to deactivate the locking device remotely in response to the user manually moving the accessory relative to the telescoping support toward the stowed position.

Abstract: A pressure sensor carrier system of fasteners is provided for conveniently and removably attaching a pressure sensor carrier to the top surface of a bed mattress in a manner that minimizes stress concentrations, wrinkles and folds in the carrier. The carrier includes pliable elastic straps at each corner and articulated semi-rigid flaps at each longitudinal side. The tension in the elastic straps and the position of the articulated flaps are independently adjustable to accommodate mattresses of different dimensions.

Abstract: A device for securing a pillow or other support to a bed includes a pocket configured to receive a pillow insert, a tail comprising a proximal end and a distal end with the tail connected to the pocket at the proximal end. The device further includes a retention element located near the distal end of the tail. The retention element is further configured to retain the pillow insert relative to the bed by tucking the retention element under the mattress of the bed.

Abstract: A connector system includes at least one mattress connector that is coupled to a mattress. The mattress connectors are coupled at the head end and at the foot end of the mattress. A topper connector is coupled to a topper at a head end and a foot end of the topper. A plurality of straps are employed to couple the mattress to the topper, with the straps being coupled to the mattress connectors and the proper connectors.

Abstract: Bed cover holders having first sections that slide under and between a mattress and a box spring and second sections including upturned ends that are slidably secured to the first sections permitting the holder to telescope between extended and retracted positions are described. The upturned ends of the holders are positioned flush against the end of the mattress when retracted. The holders can be extended to form a shelf where bedding including pillows can be placed when the bed is in use. In at least one variation, the first and second sections comprise nesting tubular structures to facilitate the telescoping arrangement.

Abstract: A sheet anchoring system is provided to restrain the periphery of a fitted sheet on a bed, where the sheet anchoring system includes a plurality of pivotable clips each having a first end and a second end with engaging friction surfaces to grasp between the surfaces a portion of the periphery of the sheet without the need for a spring or other force-biasing mechanism. The second end also has engaging surfaces forced into engagement by the weight of the mattress on top of the second end when the second end is placed between the mattress and a box spring below the mattress.

Abstract: In one embodiment of the invention, a bed clip system includes a female clip having an inlet, a male clip having a plug that is configured to be removably coupled to the inlet, and a strap coupled to at least one of the female clip and male clip.

Abstract: A bedmaking system for a bed with a base mattress has a flexible topping mattress; two fastening feet; an U-shaped brace defined by two parallel arms and a bar connecting the arms. The arms are each pivotly mounted to a fastening foot for pivoting around a common axis between a normal position and an assisting position. The bar extends along the first length edge of the topping mattress and is mounted to said first length edge. The second length edge of the topping mattress extends along the second length side of the base mattress.

Abstract: In one embodiment of the invention, a bed clip system includes a female clip having an inlet, a male clip having a plug that is configured to be removably coupled to the inlet, and a strap coupled to at least one of the female clip and male clip.

Abstract: Suspender-type strap members for securing sheets and bedding to mattress and the like. The ends of the strap members have fasteners for securing the strap members to the sheet or bedding. The strap members can also be adjustable.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a bed sheet and to an apparatus for securing a bed sheet or fitted sheet to a mattress. The bed sheet and apparatus, namely a bed sheet retainer set, preferably comprise a fitted bed sheet having four corners and a flat sheet. Both the fitted sheet and flat sheet are placed on a mattress above a box spring. The bed sheet retainer set preferably comprises a fitted sheet restrictor having cylinder with a slot and a base for placement between the mattress and box spring, four corner grips for use on the fitted sheet and two flat sheet grips for use with the flat sheet. The corner grips and flat sheet grips are preferably made of machine-washable foam with a rougher surface. The corner grips preferably each have a semi-circular base and a rounded corner wall. The flat sheet grips preferably have an hour-glass shape and rounded edges.

Abstract: A plurality of hollow tubular frame members interconnected by a single internal elastic retaining member that ensures each frame member aligns relative to each remaining frame member in a manner that only one arrangement of frame members is possible when assembled. To assemble, the frame members interconnect forming a three-dimensional frame suitable for supporting a bed cover. The frame members are held in tension by the internal retaining member. The frame members interlock via an insert device between adjacent frame members. The entire assembly interlocks and selectively decouples for disassembly. When disassembled, the entire assembly lies relatively flat, which enables a compact design suitable for packaging, transport or storage.

Abstract: An air circulation unit introduces air into a space under the bed cover from a foot-end of a bed. The air circulation unit includes an assembly for suspending the bed cover so that an occupant or occupants of the bed are partially relieved of the full weight of the bed cover. In use, the unit serves to introduce air which may be heated or cooled or at ambient temperature into the space under the bed cover and so circulate air over the occupant or occupants of the bed to keep the occupant or occupants as comfortable as possible during sleep despite surrounding conditions.

Abstract: The lift is attachable to a foot end of a bed beneath a mattress. Elongate arms extend up from a base portion of the lift. Sheets or other bed covers are supported above an upper end of the elongate arms to define a clearance space beneath the upper ends of the elongate arms. The elongate arms are preferably provided as a pair of first arms and a pair of second arms which can be moved from a lowered position to a raised position by action of a driver. When the arms are raised the clearance space keeps the bed covers off of feet of a user resting on the bed.

Abstract: A retractable toe tent device is provided to elevate the covers at the foot of the bed so that a person may sleep comfortably without the weight of the covers on their feet, thereby preventing pain or discomfort in their toes, feet, ankles, or knees. The device is comprised of a base and a telescoping support which can be raised while in use, or lowered while not in use.

Abstract: A bed sheet securing assembly includes a clamp that is removably attachable to a bed sheet. The clamp includes a first plate and a second plate. Each of the first and second plates has a first side, a second side, a back edge and a front edge. A biasing member is attached to each of the back edges of the plates and biases the first side of the first plate against the second side of the second plate. A tether is attached to the clamp. The tether is removably couplable to a bed on which the sheet is positioned. An opening apparatus is removably engaged with the clamp and is actuated to open the clamp.

Abstract: A sheet securing apparatus includes an apparatus frame and a plurality of sheet engaging members adapted to detachably engage the apparatus frame.

Abstract: A mattress wrap set is disclosed, providing an easy way to cover a mattress with a sheet, and remove the sheet from the mattress. The mattress wrap set includes a wrap sheet to cover the sides of a mattress and having a top edge that is inelastic. The top edge includes four right-angled corners and is adapted to cover a periphery of the top of the mattress. The mattress wrap set further includes a top sheet to cover at least most of the top of the mattress, and a plurality of fasteners, with one fastener located at each right-angled corner to removably connect the top sheet to the wrap sheet.

Abstract: A bedding cover and sheet combination includes a bed cover positionable on a bed to cover a bed, a bed sheet to cover the bed, and fasteners adapted to removably attach the bed cover and bed sheet in generally overlying positional relation to each other for use to cover a bed to facilitate making up a bed without separately having to align the sheet and the cover and to hold the cover and sheet in relation to each other while a person sleeping in the bed is covered by the combination cover and sheet. A kit includes such bedding cover and bedding sheet with appropriate fasteners and also includes a fitted sheet of corresponding style to at least one of the bedding cover and bedding sheet. A method of covering a bed includes placing on the bed a bed cover and bed sheet combination having the bed cover and the bed sheet fastened together in generally parallel overlying relation.

Abstract: The invention discloses differing embodiments of apparatus, and methods for their use, which are designed to aide in lifting bed mattresses and tucking in bed covers. In some embodiments, kits are disclosed which include wedge apparatus for lifting bed mattresses, and tuck apparatus for tucking in bed covers. In other embodiments, wedge apparatus for lifting portions of bed mattresses are disclosed. In still other embodiments, tuck apparatus for tucking in bed covers are provided. Additional embodiments disclose methods for using the kits, wedge apparatus, and tuck apparatus.

Abstract: An adaptable foot warmer having adjustable pocket depth and foot capacity is provided. The adaptable foot warmer has detachable means for securing the foot warmer to a bed mattress and may be adapted to a blanket when desired. In addition the detachable means allows for the foot warmer to be used other than on a mattress.

Abstract: A device for supporting blankets on a bed, for creating a space to provide room for a person's feet to be unconstricted and unbothered by the weight of the blankets. The device may include a base member for positioning between a mattress and box springs in a conventional bed. A pair of side supports may be joined to the base member on opposite sides of the bed. The side supports may include telescoping members that may be adjusted in length and locked in place in raised or lowered positions. A rail may be joined to the side supports to extend across the bed such that blankets on the bed may be draped over the rail. When the side supports are in a raised position, a space may be provided for the persons feet, whereas when the side supports are lowered, the device may be virtually undetectable under the blankets.

Abstract: A holding appliance for use in bedding, includes a belt adapted to be wound around a bottom surface of a bed, two hook devices provided at both terminals of the belt, and two fastening devices for holding and fastening portions of a periphery of the bedding, the fastening devices being adapted to be caught by the hook devices. In accordance with an embodiment of this invention, there is disclosed a holding appliance for use in bedding, that includes a hook member adapted to be interposed and located between a bed base and a mattress on the bed base, and a fastening device for holding and fastening a portion of a periphery of the bedding, the fastening device being adapted to be caught by the hooking member.

Abstract: A bedclothes support assembly maintains bedclothes in an elevated condition over the feet or other part of a person's anatomy. An upper member which extends across the mattress is supported at both ends above the selected part of the anatomy by upright members whose lower ends are supported by one of a variety of structures. The supporting structure may, for example, be a horizontal tongue extending from a horizontal member and abutting against the lower surface of the mattress, a floor mounted base or tubular cross-members with lengthwise slots for engagement on the frame of the bed. The upper horizontal member supports the bedclothes high enough to provide clearance between the bedclothes and the mattress for the selected portions of the anatomy.

Abstract: A bedspread holder utilizing a series of U-shaped members to support a bedspread off of the ends of a bed with an actuation handle connected to a support leg. The support leg can be rotated from a storage position substantially in the same plane as the U-shaped support member to a use position substantially perpendicular to such support member plane.

Abstract: An in-bed toe tent frame designed to keep bedding off the toes of a person lying on his or her back on a standard bed. The frame includes a flat lower support frame which extends transversely across the bed between the mattress and box spring. The opposite ends of the lower support frame extend upward over the opposite sides of the mattress and selectively connect to two hub assemblies. The two hub assemblies hold an upper support frame in a transversely aligned, elevated position over the mattress. Bedding placed over the upper support frame is then elevated over the user's feet when sleeping. The hub assemblies allow the upper support frame to be adjusted to different heights to produce different tent sizes. The hubs also allow the upper support frame to be rotated toward the foot of the bed for compact storage.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for attaching a bed covering to a bed includes an elongated member having an anchor at one end and a connector at the other end. The elongated member is placed between the mattress and the box spring with the anchor at the head of the bed and the connector near the foot of the bed, the connector being attached to the bed covering. When pulled toward the foot of the bed, the anchor firmly wedges itself between the mattress and box spring preventing the connector from moving and thereby keeping the bed covering in place.

Abstract: A bedding clamp for securing bedding such as a light blanket or sheet on a mattress at selected corners of a bed, which bedding clamp includes a pair of clamp members, each fitted with a clamp hinged to a clamp plate for clamping the bedding therebetween in a friction-fit and securing the bedding in place by means of a band connecting the clamp members and positioned beneath the corners of the mattress. In a preferred embodiment each clamp plate is characterized by a clamp hinged in a clamp opening in the clamp plate and shaped to define a resilient lobe to removably engage a corresponding receiver opening shaped in the clamp plate as the bedding is removably captured between the clamp and the receiver opening. The clamp members are typically connected by an elastic or resilient plastic band and may be quickly and easily manually opened and closed by means of clamp tabs to insert and remove the bedding from between the respective clamps and receiver openings.

Abstract: A blanket elevation apparatus is provided for elevating bedding away from the feet of a bed occupant. The blanket elevation apparatus is functional with a traditional bed to adjustably position the bedding thereof relative to its associated mattress. The blanket elevation apparatus includes a base frame retainer adapted to be slidably positioned between the upper mattress and the lower box spring. A bedding elevator includes leg members which slidably engage a pair of leg tubes of the base frame retainer so as to support bedding in spaced relation to the upper mattress.

Abstract: A bedding storage container includes a pouch, and at least one strap attached to the pouch. The pouch has a front wall, a rear wall, and two side walls thereby forming a storage area. The at least one strap adjustably attaches the pouch to a futon frame assembly. A lid is hingedly attached to the rear wall. The front wall has a lip as an upper edge thereof. The lid is selectably positionable over the lip. As desired, the lid has openings formed thereupon. The openings receive buttons attached to the front wall, thereby securing the container in a closed position.

Abstract: A method for attaching a bed covering to a bed includes: (a) providing a bed having a mattress disposed on top of a box spring, (b) providing a bed covering; (c) providing a device for attaching the bed covering to the bed, the device including: an elongated member having first and second ends; a connector attached to the first end; an anchor connected to the second end; (d) positioning the anchor so that it abuts at least one of the side wall of the mattress and the side wall of the box spring; (e) placing the elongated member between the mattress and the box spring; and, (f) attaching the connector to the bed covering, wherein the connector is sandwiched between the mattress and the box spring. In another embodiment, the box spring is replaced by a support surface. In another embodiment, the anchor has nubs which horizontally engage both the mattress and the support surface.

Abstract: A foot free pillow for use on a bed comprising a pillow with a body portion having a wedge shaped cross section, a tapered point formed at the apex of said triangular wedge shaped cross section, said tapered point conforming to the contours of the periphery of a mattress. Also a protrusion can be attached to the body portion at the vertex of the wedge shaped cross section, wherein said protrusion forms a notch allowing said protrusion to be secured against a sheet.

Abstract: A method for attaching a top bed covering to a bed, includes (a) providing a bed having a mattress disposed on top of a box spring, the mattress and box spring having adjacent side walls, (b) providing a top bed covering, (c) providing a device for attaching a bed covering to a bed, the device including: an elongated member having a first end and an opposite second end; a connector attached to the first end; an anchor connected to the second end; (d) positioning the anchor so that it simultaneously abuts the side walls of both the mattress and the box spring, (e) positioning the elongated member between the mattress and the box spring, and, (f) attaching the connector to the top bed covering. 1. In an alternative embodiment, the anchor has nubbed sides and is placed horizontally between the mattress and the box spring.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for securing a bed linen proximate a mattress includes a planar member with at least one tapered portion that is adapted to receive a portion of a bed linen therein. In use, the bed linen is urged into the tapered portion and is secured thereto. The planar member is then rotated approximately 180 degrees and is placed under a corner of the mattress, thereby securing the corner of the linen in position under the mattress. Alternate embodiments for the planar member and for the tapered portion are described.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for securing a bed linen proximate a mattress includes a planar member with at least one tapered portion that is adapted to receive a portion of a bed linen therein. In use, the bed linen is urged into the tapered portion and is secured thereto. The planar member is then rotated approximately 180 degrees and is placed under a corner of the mattress, thereby securing the corner of the linen in position under the mattress. Alternate embodiments for the planar member and for the tapered portion are described.

Abstract: The bed sheet securing system is a bed sheet having a hem in the bottom edge. The hem has a pair of openings through which a drawstring is inserted such that the two ends thereof protrude through the openings. In use the bed sheet is fitted over a mattress with the bottom edge and drawstring tucked thereunder. The drawstring is then pulled at its ends to draw the sheet taut around the mattress. Finally the drawstring is secured at its ends by for example tying.

Abstract: A foot free pillow for use on a bed comprising a pillow with a body portion having a wedge shaped cross section, a tapered point formed at the apex of said triangular wedge shaped cross section, said tapered point conforming to the contours of the periphery of a mattress. Also a protrusion can be attached to the body portion at the vertex of the wedge shaped cross section, wherein said protrusion forms a notch allowing said protrusion to be secured against a sheet.

Abstract: A crib sheet anchor is provided having an octagonal harness pad having at least four corner edges, with at least two of the four corner edges being parallel to one another and arranged at about thirty-five degrees to at least two parallel side edges. In this way, outwardly directed forces applied to the octagonal harness pad are evenly distributed so as to prevent bunching or wrinkling of the crib sheet. Six elastic strips each having two ends with one of the ends fastened to one each of the side edges and the corner edges of the harness pad. Four of the six elastic straps are relatively longer than two of the elastic straps. Six clasps are fastened one each to the free ends of the six elastic straps. The clasps include a crib sheet engagement portion that can be locked in place on a crib sheet and which increases its grip as tension is applied to the crib sheet and the clasp.

Abstract: A bed covering retention apparatus comprising a planar anchor plate having a proximal portion and a distal portion, an upper surface and a lower surface, a first and a second anchor point at the proximal end of the anchor plate to which first and second elastic bands are removably connected. The first and second elastic bands have a proximal end and distal end and extend from the anchor points along the bottom surface of the anchor plate until each emerges upwardly through respective apertures to the top surface of the anchor plate. The bands further include releasable jaws having an adjustable opening and adjustable tension so that the jaws will clamp securely to sheets and covers of varying thicknesses.
