Abstract: A portable water cooled mattress for use with infants or the like comprising an air bladder lower level constructed of an air proof material and including an inflation and deflation opening valve. A water bladder layer is positioned on a top surface of the air bladder and includes a fill and empty spout valve while a pocket is formed between the water bladder and air bladder suitable for inserting either heating and/or cooling packs as desired. An insulating upper layer covers the water bladder preventing the child from becoming dampened from condensation.

Abstract: A cover for a waterbed mattress includes a top layer suitably sized to cover the waterbed mattress and an inner backing layer of substantially the same overall outline as the top portion disposed so that the top layer lies over the backing layer. A bottom is spaced away from the top layer and the inner backing layer so as to provide a cavity for a water mattress, with the bottom disposed below the cavity and the inner backing layer being disposed above the cavity. The top layer is divided into at least three sections, each section extending substantially across the top layer. The first section is fixedly secured to the inner backing layer by stitches disposed in a first stitching pattern while the other two sections are fixedly secured to the inner backing layer by stitches disposed in a second stitching pattern. It is preferred that one of the stitching patterns be a continuous wave stitching pattern and that the other be a tack and jump stitching pattern.

Abstract: The present invention comprises a multi-component mattress comprising a pillow top detachably connected to a mattress core. The mattress core comprises a plurality of hydraulic cylinders, liquid impervious covers for the cylinders, a variety of foam cushions positioned on top of the so-encased cylinders, a resilient edging holding the cylinders in place and defining the outer perimeter of the mattress core, a moisture barrier, and a cover encasing the core members. Upon assembly, water is added to the cylinders. A unique feature of this mattress is that it is manufactured and sold in knock-down, ready-to-assemble form. This provides for compactness in shipping, ease of handling, and a substantial reduction in consumer cost. The mattress is used in combination with a planar support platform which also is disclosed.
