Barrier Of Hingedly Connected Sections Patents (Class 52/71)
  • Patent number: 11711047
Abstract: A shelter or camper that provides improved portability and protection. The shelter or camper may include rigid walls to offer greater protection from weather, animals, and theft. The shelter or camper may be transitionable between different configurations for different purposes, including an open and expanded configuration for use as a shelter, camper, or sleeping quarters and a compact, closed case configuration for easy storage and transport. To facilitate this, the walls may be foldable, expandable, or collapsible. When the walls are folded or collapsed, roof and floor sections may be connected to each other and may enclose the folded, collapsed walls and internal components within the collapsed closed case.

Abstract: An energy absorbing sports board assembly that is not fixed to the floor of the arena but is allowed to move relative to the arena floor. The system utilizes vertical and horizontal tension to return the structure to its original position after deflection from impact from within the playing surface of the sports arena. The bottom portion, which is covered with a dasher board, rotates relative to the see-through material making up the top portion (glass). Because the sports board system is not attached to the floor of the arena, hockey players sliding along the ice during a hockey game are protected from concussion and paralyzing injuries to a greater extent than current systems which are fixed to the arena floor. Abstract: Foldable building units are provided based on structural frame and connection assembly designs that enable greater construction efficiency and flexibility. The structural frame and connection assembly designs allow for easier connection of frame elements in the prefabrication process of the foldable building units and for easier connection of frame elements at the building site, for example, of foldably connected frame elements after unfolding. They also allow for more finish in the prefabrication process, and/or less and faster work at the building site, for example, by enabling conventional structural lumber grids that can be continuous through the edges and corners of the building envelope for conventional exterior finishing, while providing a tight building envelope with reduced heat transfer, particularly, through the edges of the foldable building unit.

  • Patent number: 8720126
Abstract: The invention is an expandable and contractible, transforming habitable structure, ISO-certified container designed as a single unit with all primary components contained within, to be easily transported by water, air or land (truck and rail) in stacked configurations. The unit of fold-down floors, easy swing-out interior and exterior walls, and an inter-locking roof system, rapidly expands using: specially designed and engineered “box hinges” and “pivot pins.” When expanded, the unit is structurally secured via especially designed and engineered “spring bolts” requiring little construction knowledge or tools, into HUD-approved, habitable, family friendly structure for emergency and temporary individual, or single-family use, and can be combined in multiples for various field functional applications.

Abstract: A modular housing system, also known as “Maisons Demontables” may utilize a plurality of lightweight composite construction panels to create modular housing units that have high degrees of resistance to environmental factors like wind, hurricanes, floods and so forth. The housing units may have a very high thermal insulating rating. The panels may comprise expanded polystyrene (EPS) panels to create a bent which is a plurality of panels that are hinged to one another so that they can be compressed for shipping, and expanded or unfolded to be used as part of a housing unit. The panels may be mated together to form a section of a housing unit such as a wall. The housing unit may be easily assembled or disassembled using basic tools. A hinge technique is provided for joining the panels together to form the bents, and may include a tensioning system to bind multiple panels together.

  • Patent number: 8640393
Abstract: A deformable slat system for a building construction has one or more deformable slats(1). At least one of the aforementioned slats (1) has two slat parts (Ia, Ib) which are joined together in such a way that they are hingeable about a hinge line (2). This slat (1) is bendable and/or twistable in each first position where the slat parts (Ia, Ib) are hinged at a straight angle or a zero angle with respect to one another and is rigidified in each second position where the slat parts (Ia, Ib) are hinged at an angle differing from the straight angle or zero angle with respect to one another. The slat system includes means (13a, 13b, 19a, 19b, 14, 15, 16) for bringing the aforementioned slat (1) selectively into a first or a second position, and for bringing a slat (1), which has been brought into a first position, into a bent and/or twisted position. Furthermore, a slat (1) is provided for a slat system of this type, and also a building construction is provided with a slat system of this type.

Abstract: A privacy enhancer is composed of a first strip preferably rigid and a flexible strip. The first strip has a connector located on one edge. An adhesive is provided along the length of the side for attachment to a first or second pilaster of an enclosure. The enhancer includes a second strip preferably a flexible plastic strip preferably nontransparent having a connector located on an edge of the flexible plastic strip. The two connectors are coupled together. The first strip is then attached to the pilaster by contacting the adhesive side of the strip to the pilaster on the side of the pilaster opposite to the direction of movement of the door. The flexible plastic strip closes off the space between the door and the pilaster when the door is closed.
