Abstract: A tubular bag packaging for bar-shaped food products is made of a film with first and second longitudinal edges. The film has a first seal section at the first longitudinal edge. A flap section at the second longitudinal edge has a second seal section along the second longitudinal edge. The film is closed at the seal sections by forming a continuous back seam in longitudinal direction as a fold-over seam. The film is sealed at transverse edges by transverse seams. The back seam has end face edges adjoining the transverse seams. The flap section has a linear separation cut as a tearing aid disposed on at least one of the end face edges and extending away from the end face edge in longitudinal direction. The film in the area of the second seal section with linear separating cut has a pressure deformation line that extends in longitudinal direction.

A binding device inserts and/or tensions the strapping elements and connects overlapping areas of the strapping elements. In order to permit the strapping of a greater number applications, a connection mechanism is provided to connect the strapping elements in the immediate environment of a crossover location of the strapping elements and/or at the crossover location of the strapping elements. It is also possible to effect the connection using a single sealing stamp.

Abstract: The use of a double sided adhesive tape for sealing and opening cartons or cartonlike packages, at least one of the two films of adhesive of the double sided adhesive tape being present applied in the lengthwise direction of the carrier material in the form of a strip which is present at least partially and which is narrower than the carrier material of the adhesive tape, the bonding of the adhesive tape between the two plies or flaps of the carton or of the cartonlike packages taking place in such a way that the part of the carrier material not covered by the film of adhesive is likewise situated between the two plies or flaps.
Abstract: A strapping machine has a housing carrying a mount attachable to an overhead balancer line, tensioning and sealing devices in the housing, and an elongated pivotal handle. An inner handle end is formed with an annular inlet passage and a radially throughgoing inlet port opening into the inlet passage. The handle also is formed with axially extending passages extending from the inlet passage to an outer handle end. A pneumatic motor in the outer handle end drives a transmission in the inner end of the handle in turn drives the devices in the housing. An inlet fitting on the housing is connectable to a compressed-air supply line. A conduit has one end communicating with the inlet fitting and an opposite end opening radially inward into the inlet port of the handle. The outer handle end is formed with an outlet opening for venting air from the motor.
Abstract: A packaging apparatus includes a pair of rolls forming a nip through which two web portions are passed with an item to be packaged between the web portions. The rolls include resiliently compliant roll portions that deform to accommodate the thickness of the item, and the roll portions press the web portions to seal them together in peripheral regions surrounding the item and to center the item between the webs in the thickness direction. The apparatus also includes side seal devices that traverse inwardly toward the item to seal the webs together close to the item's opposite side edges to prevent the item from laterally shifting. The web portions may have cohesive disposed on their facing surfaces such that the web portions adhere to each other with pressure but tend not to adhere to the packaged item or other surfaces.

Abstract: A wrapping apparatus for wrapping a continuous elongated article, such as a continuous stack of interfolded paper towels, includes a web supply section that supplies a pair of continuous webs of wrapping material, and a wrapping section for applying the continuous pair of webs about the article. The web supply section includes a pair of web supply stations for each web of wrapping material, and a source of wrapping material, such as a supply roll, is located at each web supply station. The web supply section includes a splicing mechanism for each pair of web supply stations, for splicing together the trailing end of a web from an exhausted supply roll of wrapping material with the leading end of a web from a fresh supply roll of wrapping material, to provide a continuous web of wrapping material to the wrapping section. The web supply section includes a festoon-type web storage mechanism in which the web downstream of the splicing mechanism is trained about a series of rollers in a serpentine path.

Abstract: A stack of bank notes with substantially parallelepiped shape and a defined stacking axis is formed by a forming machine and fed by a gripper to a banding unit equipped with a part which receives and grips each stack, which operates in conjunction with a banding machine for the application of a pair of first retaining bands, each wrapped around the stack at its opposite ends and at least one second retaining band which is wrapped around the stack in such a way that it is in contact with two transversal surfaces and two lateral surfaces, so that portions of the first bands and second band overlap one another on each of the two opposite transversal surfaces.
