  • Patent number: 10201773
Abstract: A retainer arrangement exerts forces on a filter installed in a holder to increase the sealing pressure exerted by the filter against a holder flange on which the filter is seated when installed the arrangement, including a pair of substantially non stretchable but flexible retainer cables, each attached at either end to respective opposite holder sides at points located within the thickness of the air filter and of a length to enable drawing each cable around an outer edge of an air filter case and onto the surface thereof. An elastic stretch cord is connected at either end thereof to respective retainer cable extending over the surface of the filter at an intermediate point along the length thereof. Abstract: An apparatus and method for filtering air in residential and commercial applications is described herein. The air filter may have a support frame which secures to the intake grille of an HVAC system. A filter media may be placed in the support frame to filter air as it passes through the air filter. The filter media may be replaced when the filter media becomes too dirty to effectively filter air. The dirty filter media may be removed from the frame and a new clean media may be replaced in the frame.

Abstract: A retrofit installation kit for use with such as an exteriorly located air conditioner condensing unit. The kit includes a flexible filtration screen and a set of customized fasteners which substitute for existing fasteners used to hold together the outer sheathing of the unit frame. The substitution of fasteners for the typical mounting screws utilized in the original unit construction precludes the possibility of such as damaging the unit due to drilling new fastener holes, this running the risk of rupturing fluid coils within the unit, or damaging other sensitive electrical or mechanical components.

Abstract: A grill and filter assembly having a replaceable filter element includes a rectangular frame assembly, grill insert and a filter. The rectangular frame assembly has an outer frame forming a face and an outwardly extending wall extension. The grill insert has a plurality of louvers and an outwardly extending filter housing. It also includes a plurality of flanges extending inwardly from the filter housing to a depth of no greater than the thickness of standard drywall. The filter assembly includes a loop covered with a fabric filter material. The loop is capable of flexure and the filter is inserted within the filter housing and under the flanges. A plurality of magnets are attached to the wall extension and located to magnetically hold the grill insert within the frame assembly. The flanges and filter housing are structurally adapted to allow the filter to be flexed and slid from under the flanges to remove it from the grill insert.

Abstract: An air filter element partially-fabricated on site wherein one or more wire frames are fastened to one another to form a structure substantially conforming to the dimensions of the original equipment manufacturer's filter housing. One or more of the wire frames are flexibly attached to each other end-to-end by flexible attachment means, allowing the assembled filter unit to be inserted into the filter housing one frame at a time, with the frame sections yet to be inserted folded or directed off to one side, thus bypassing space restrictions. Flexible attachment means may comprise spring connectors. Also disclosed is an end-cap affixed to or formed at one or both ends of the filter element. The end-caps may also contain printed material, such as text or pictures, which may include instructions for use, identifying labels or symbols, or the like.
