Abstract: The yarns of the invention include untwisted wrapped singles yarns having a core strand and a wrapper yarn. The wrapper yarn is a base synthetic fiber and a heat-activated binder fiber with a melting point substantially below that of the base synthetic fiber. Abstract: A flexible member used as a rope in a mesh has an outer sheathing which is easy to touch and an inner core which is shrinkable so that when used in a mesh which is suspended on a frame, it pulls the frame tautly by the shrinkage of the inner cords. Also, a connection between a support member and a border can be effected using one way mechanical fasteners. Shrink nets can be further used on a frame without sheathing with a twisted cord.

Abstract: A plastic driving cable for attachment and use in driving systems. The plastic driving cable is comprised of an all-plastic inner core, with or without an outer jacket, and all-plastic molded end fittings. The inner core has a configuration of interwoven or bundled fibers of high performance polymer providing a cable of increased strength and flexibility that fits a smaller bending radius and has high performance at low temperatures. The outer jacket comprises a non-metallic material that surrounds the inner core providing improved performance at low temperatures.
Abstract: An expanded graphite knitting yarn according to the present invention is covered or bound and covered with a reinforcing material made of a braided body such as stainless steel line members, before an outer periphery of an expanded graphite tape having a predetermined width, which has been subjected to a twisting process, is braided. Therefore, an amount of the expanded graphite particles exfoliated from ends of the expanded graphite tape in the twisting process can be significantly reduced. Moreover, this can prevent the expanded graphite particles from being exfoliated from the end of the expanded graphite tape in a braiding process. Furthermore, the plural expanded graphite knitting yarns are put together and subjected to either braiding or twisting process, thereby forming a gland packing. This can enhance a sealing property and a pressure resistance property of the gland packing.

Abstract: A bottom support cord having a limited stretch for use with a conventional produce harvesting receptacle, such as a fruit picking bucket or bag often used in the harvesting of tree fruit, such as apples, pears, and peaches. The bag is typically tubular with a top opening and a bottom opening. A pair of stretchable support cords replace the typical support ropes that permanently attach to the bag at the bottom and removably attached near the top at a pair of cord receivers. The support cords have a tubular outer sheath that stretches. Within the outer sheath, a non-stretchable inner cord limits the outer sheath's extension. The bag folds upwardly, near the bottom to retain a quantity of produce within. When both support ropes are removed from the cord receivers, the bottom of the bag folds down to dump the produce. The stretchable support cords extend to increase the holding capacity of the bag automatically.
Abstract: A reinforcing steel cord for rubber products, such as steel belted radial tires or conveyor belts, is disclosed. This steel cord is improved in rubber penetration and ageing adhesive force relative to the rubber material. The steel cord is formed by twisting a plurality of brass coated external element wires around a flat and spirally twisted core, with the twisted direction of the core being the same as or opposite to that of the resulting steel cord. In the steel cord, the pitch of the twisted core is set to allow the core to be twisted 0.2 to 2 times within the pitch of the cord, thus preferably forming sufficient interspaces between the core and the external wires in addition to the interspaces between the external wires.

Abstract: Strands and wire ropes composed of materials such as high carbon steels and stainless steels can be provided in a compacted, mechanically stress relieved and thermally stress relieved condition. The wires are compacted during stranding to form the individual strands of the wire ropes. The wires can be thermally stress relieved prior to stranding to remove tensile residual stresses. Compaction produces a compressive residual stress state in the strands which increases fatigue resistance. The strands can be thermally stress relieved subsequent to closing. The wires and strands can be heated using a process such as induction heating. The wire ropes can be torque balanced or rotation resistant. The wire ropes have high strength, a high strength-to-weight ratio and enhanced fatigue life. Stainless steel wire ropes also provide corrosion resistance.
