    Abstract: A spliced rope apparatus and a method of forming the same are disclosed. The apparatus has a first rope including a first plurality of strands and a second rope including a second plurality of strands. The apparatus also has a splice connecting the ropes and defined by the first and second pluralities of strands. The splice has a spiral section including a first pair having strands of the first plurality of strands that are positioned proximate each other. The first pair extends helically and the strands of the first pair together pass under a plurality of picks defined by the second plurality of strands and together pass over a remainder of the second plurality of strands. The splice also has a tuck section in which at least some of the first plurality of strands extend longitudinally to pass under and over sequential picks defined by the second plurality of strands.

    Abstract: A procedure and apparatus for start-up spinning of a thread in an open-end spinning apparatus is provided. A first and second auxiliary roll-pair are presentable within a thread course during start up spinning. A source of a suction air stream within the spinning apparatus is positioned below the first and second roll-pairs. The source of suction air stream creates a suction flow of air to induce the thread end into the spinning apparatus for start up spinning. A control center is in communication with the first and second roll-pairs, so that the control center controls them. A thread storage unit is positioned between the first and second roll-pairs proximal to the course of the thread. The thread storage unit is in communication with the control center so that the thread storage unit is activated to store and release the thread during start up spinning.

    Abstract: A process is disclosed for a spinning arrangement for dealing with the correction of an end break. During operation, sliver-like fiber material fed to the spinning arrangement is opened to single fibers by means of an opening roller. The single fibers are then transferred in the form of a fiber veil to a suctioned collecting surface, which is driven in the direction of motion of the single fibers. During the transport of the fibers by means of the collecting surface, the fiber veil is condensed to a narrow fiber strand and the condensed fiber strand is spun to a yarn downstream of a nipping line by means of a twisting nozzle. When an end-break occurs, the material feed is interrupted and the fiber strand is suctioned in the area of the nipping line until the collecting surface is free from single fibers. A piecing operation subsequently takes place.

    Abstract: A method for producing a spliced yarn comprising alternating predetermined lengths of a first and a second yarn and to the yarn is disclosed. A predetermined length of a first yarn is drawn through an intermingling jet. A leading portion of a second yarn is forwarding into the intermingling jet and into overlapping relationship with a trailing portion of the first yarn. The yarns are held in the intermingling jet, as by a clamp disposed forwardly of the jet. Using a pressurized fluid the overlapped portions are intermingled. The first yarn is then severed, and the spliced portion and a predetermined length of the second yarn are drawn through the intermingling jet. The cycle is repeated with the second yarn being the currently drawn yarn and the first yarn being forwarded into overlapping relationship therewith.
