  • Patent number: 6374588
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a hairiness controlling device that can start, simultaneously with the start of spun yarn running, stabilizing a spun yarn run through disks. According to the present invention, a rotation speed of each disk 6 is varied depending on a running speed of a spun yarn Y run as a drive drum D rotates, thereby setting the tension of the spun yarn Y at an appropriate value when the spun yarn starts to run.

  • Patent number: 5694756
Abstract: When an open-end rotor spinning device is stopped, a short yarn end is produced. For this, and in synchronization with the interruption of fiber feeding to the opener device (116), the fibers which continue to be combed out of the leading end of the fiber sliver (2), as well as the fibers still present in the clothing of the opener device (116), are prevented from continuing to accumulate on the fiber collection surface (136) of the spinning rotor (13). To carry out this process, the device (115) for the stoppage of the fiber feeding device (110) is connected to a control device (3) by means of which a device (134, 135, 172, 173) for the shortening of the yarn end can be switched on temporarily as the spinning device (11) is stopped.

  • Patent number: 5211709
Abstract: A stop motion device for a textile strand processing machine including a sensor positioned between a supply package and a take-up package for sensing the presence or absence of a strand within a defined sensing range of the sensor and a strand breaker positioned between the supply package and the sensor. The strand breaker includes a pivot for pivotally mounting the strand breaker for movement between an inoperative position in disengagement with the strand and a strand breaking position in engagement with the strand. The pivot is positioned with relation to the path of movement of the strand for pivotal movement of the strand breaker in the direction of movement of the strand and towards and into the path of movement of the strand for breaking the strand upstream of the take-up package. A release cooperates with the sensor and the strand breaker for releasing the strand breaker when the sensor senses the absence of a strand within its sensing range.

  • Patent number: 4823543
Abstract: Apparatus for spinning yarn from roving including a spinning frame with spinning units arranged thereon. The roving to be drawn is fed from a common double-roving bobbin to each of two neighboring spinning units, further referred to as spinning units pair. At least one stopping device is assigned to each of the spinning units of the spinning units pair, to stop and release again the roving feed to the two drawing frames of the respective spinning units pair. The purpose of the stopping device is to reduce the loss of roving and to avoid the danger of yarn lapping on the drawing rollers. The stopping device can be actuated by each of two yarn break sensors of the spinning units pair for the simultaneous arrest of the roving. In a second embodiment a yarn-setting carriage is provided on the spinning frame to correct a yarn break, such correction occuring only when all correction hindering conditions are absent.

  • Patent number: 4653263
Abstract: A process is provided for connecting the end of a new fiber band to the end of a fiber band running into an open-end spinning arrangement wherein the threading on is conducted in such a manner that the joining point between the new fiber band and the fiber band already running into the spinning arrangement does not result into a change in the yarn number. In one embodiment it is provided that the fiber bands are prepared in such a manner and connected to each other, especially by means of twisting them together, such that a joining point exhibits at least approximately the same number as the other areas of the fiber band. In a second embodiment, it is provided that following a joining of the two fiber bands the feeding device of the spinning arrangement is switched on until the joining point is running into the spinning arrangement whereby the fibers fed during this time period are transported off within the spinning arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4584833
Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus for emergency fiber supply to a spinning unit in an open-end spinning machine. According to the invention, a sensing unit controls an electromagnetic coupling and fiber supply device, such that a break in the yarn is rapidly detected and the fiber supply is immediately disengaged, even if the conventional thread breakage detector fails.A sensing unit is disposed in that portion of the wall of a cover that extends into the spinning rotor interior. It is adapted to respond to the excess accumulation of unspun fibers and/or an undue increase in temperature by disconnecting the electromagnetic fiber supply coupling via the thread breakage detector circuit to which it is connected. The sensing unit can be a pressure sensitive microswitch, a bimetallic relay, a thermistor, or a combination of these elements.

  • Patent number: 4392340
Abstract: In a textile machine two primary yarns are fed under relatively low longitudinal tension from respective yarn supplies to a combining location at which they are combined into a single yarn. The combined yarns are fed from this location under relatively high longitudinal tension to a takeup station where they are wound up on a spool. The tension in the combined yarns is continuously monitored between the combining location and the takeup station and an output is generated when this tension drops from the high tension below a predetermined level at least equal to the relatively low tensions in the individual yarns. This occurs when one of the yarns breaks. The yarn feeds are interrupted when the output is generated to prevent forming an inadequately plied yarn.
