  • Patent number: 4150534
Abstract: Method of exchanging sliver cans of a spinning machine having individual spinning stations, the sliver cans being disposed in staggered array adjacent and behind one another, by means of a can exchanging device able to travel on a given travel path along the spinning machine which includes placing the sliver cans in groups of at least three cans on turntables installed below the respective spinning stations of the spinning machine, conducting the can-exchanging device with at least one filled sliver can carried thereby in operating readiness past the groups of at least three cans at the respective spinning stations, stopping at a respective spinning station in response to a signal "sliver missing" from the spinning station and automatically carrying out the following operating steps:(a) turning the turntable into can-exchanging position if the turntable is not already in such position;(b) removing from the turntable the sliver can to be exchanged;(c) delivering the filled sliver can from the can exchanging de

  • Patent number: 4107912
Abstract: An improved capstan assembly for a rope making machine in which separate strands of rope are twisted together and drawn through a forming die by the capstan and then directed onto a take-up spool. The capstan assembly includes a single capstan having a smooth cylindrical peripheral wall and a hollow central shaft through which the advancing rope strand is directed. A separating comb is mounted adjacent the peripheral wall of the capstan such that adjacent windings of the advancing rope strand around the single capstan are engaged and kept separate by the comb teeth and thereby are prevented from overlapping and binding.

  • Patent number: 4065080
Abstract: A kite reel system for use with a kite having plural lengths of line attached thereto includes a shaft rotatably journaled within a handle and having a reel mounted on one end thereof and a hand operated crank coupled to the other end thereof. The kite is reeled in from a flying condition in controlled fashion by securing a ring attached to the lengths of line within a mating notch in the shaft and operating the crank to rotate the shaft and thereby twist the lengths of line around each other. The twisted lengths of line are periodically fed through a notch in the edge of the reel for winding onto the reel, then back out of the reel notch and into the ring notch as an untwisted portion thereof is encountered. The twisting and reeling procedure is repeated until the kite has been reeled in.

  • Patent number: 4040240
Abstract: A method and apparatus for doubling and twisting a material yarn by a two-step changeover system by utilizing a pot twisting and winding device is disclosed. To produce a doubled and twisted yarn having a yarn configuration of two component yarns forming the yarn in a balanced condition, when the second step operation is carried out so as to double a primary twisted yarn of a yarn package formed in the pot by a first step operation with a yarn fed from a supply source and twist this doubled yarn while eliminating the primary twists imparted to the material yarn, the position of the bottom end of the traverse tube in the pot must be controlled so as to satisfy a particular condition D.sub.2 .gtoreq. L.sub.2, where D.sub.2 represents an inside diameter of the full size yarn package formed in the pot by the first step operation, while L.sub.2 represents a distance between the bottom end of the traverse tube and an inside bottom surface of the pot.

  • Patent number: 3981130
Abstract: A single-process twisting machine for production of twisted yarn from two strands is particularly adapted for cord production. The machine comprises longitudinally spaced work stations, each work station including a twisting spindle, a device for balancing the tensioning of the strands, a feeding device, a take-up mechanism, strand tensioners, and a device for synchronous starting and arresting of the drives of the twisting spindle of the feeding device, and of the take-up mechanism. This synchronous starting and arresting device enables selective arrestment of any single work station, either automatically or manually, without stopping the entire machine. The arbor of the spindle and the stationary holder of the bobbin of the supply package have provided therein coaxial through passages for forwarding a strand from the supply package via these passages to the device for balancing the tensioning of the strands, with the latter being mounted on the bottom end of the arbor.
