    Abstract: A dynamic stabilizing device (1) for bones (3), in particular for vertebrae, includes two bone anchoring elements (2) spaced from one another, which are connectable via fastening elements (4) with at least one rod (5) that is at least partly elastic. The rod (5) has an adjustable device (7) for affecting its elasticity, which is adjustable before and/or after the implantation of the stabilizing device (1). The adjustable device (7) is formed, such that it changes the free length of an elastic section (11) of the rod (5). The adjustable device (7) includes a carriage that is displaceable over the rod (5), and the carriage (20) engages the rod (5) on a peripheral side at least partially.

    Abstract: The present application is directed to interbody spinal fusion implants having a structural configuration that provides for the maintaining and creating of the normal anatomic angular relationship of two adjacent vertebrae of the spine to maintain and create spinal lordosis. The spinal fusion implants are sized to fit within the disc space created by the removal of disc material between two adjacent vertebrae and conform wholly or in part to the disc space created. The spinal fusion implants of the present invention have upper and lower surfaces that form a support structure for bearing against the end plates of the adjacent vertebrae. The upper and lower surfaces are disposed in a converging angular relationship to each other such that the implants have an overall “wedged-shape” in an elevational side view.

    Abstract: Disclosed is an expandable percutaneous sheath, for introduction into the body while in a first, low cross-sectional area configuration, and subsequent expansion to a second, enlarged cross-sectional configuration. The sheath is maintained in the first, low cross-sectional configuration by a removable tubular restraint or by structural elements built into the wall of the expandable portion of the sheath. In one application, the sheath is utilized to introduce a formed in place orthopedic fixation rod such as for use in spinal fixation procedures, preparation of a spinal segment, or placement of a vertebral body spacer. The sheath can further comprise structural elements to permit re-collapse of the sheath under fluid pressure following completion of the procedure and prior to removal from the patient.
