  • Patent number: 11906224
Abstract: Disclosed techniques include enabling controlled refrigeration and liquefaction and energy management. A liquid is pumped into a closed chamber to compress a vapor. Pressure is increased in the closed chamber by pumping additional liquid into the closed chamber. The increasing pressure enables assimilation of the vapor into the liquid. The heat of compression is removed from the vapor simultaneously with compression. The liquid containing the vapor that was assimilated is withdrawn from the chamber. It is flashed to release at least a portion of the vapor that was assimilated. The flashing results in absorbing a latent heat of vaporization from surfaces in thermal contact with the liquid. A first and second heating/cooling circuit are controlled. Gas within the first heating/cooling circuit is cooled and compressed using a liquid piston. A gas is warmed within the second heating/cooling circuit, and expansion is accomplished using a liquid piston.

  • Patent number: 11641177
Abstract: A method for coordinated control of a renewable electrical energy source (RES) and an electrical energy storage (EES) device utilizes a time-dependent forecast of electrical energy production by the RES and a state of charge (SOC) schedule for the EES including at least one SOC target value. A time-varying charge/discharge control signal is configured to ensure that the SOC schedule is satisfied by charging at a rate necessary to meet the SOC target value, while periodically updating the generation of the charge/discharge control signal based upon an updated time-dependent forecast of electrical energy production and/or an updated SOC schedule. A configurable refresh period may be used to limit updates of the time-varying control signal including computation and use of a new basepoint value for aggregated energy supplied from the RES-ESS facility to an electrical grid.

  • Patent number: 11636558
Abstract: Cooperation in supply and demand balance of renewable energy in a region is implemented by operation of infrastructures of an infrastructure service such as water supply. In an energy management system including: a processor; and a storage device, the processor predicts an electric power supply amount utilizing renewable energy in a predetermined region, predicts an electric power demand amount in the region, predicts a demand amount of an infrastructure service different from an electric power service in the region, predicts an electric power demand amount corresponding to the infrastructure service on the basis of the predicted demand amount of the infrastructure service in the region, and determines use time of electric power corresponding to the infrastructure service such that the electric power demand amount in the region approaches the electric power supply amount.

  • Patent number: 11609156
Abstract: Traditionally, benchmarking of asset performance involves comparing actual performance with ideal values that correspond to test conditions which may not be realized in practice leading to inappropriate ranking of the assets. Systems and methods of the present disclosure use condition-aware reference curves for estimating the maximum possible operating efficiencies (under specific operating conditions) instead of the theoretical maximum efficiencies. The reference curves are received from the manufacturer or obtained from on-site test results. Benchmarking is then performed based on two dimensions, viz., an inter-asset metric and an intra-asset metric that are analogous to the first law and second law of thermodynamics respectively. The two-dimensional benchmarking then helps in identifying inefficient assets that may be analyzed further for finding the root cause.
