Abstract: Methods and apparatus to convert configuration data associated with a first router are disclosed. Example methods include creating a configuration delete file that identifies configuration data to be removed from a second router prior to migrating a set of routes from the first router to the second router. Example methods further include using the configuration delete file to remove existing configuration data associated with a port of the second router, wherein the port of the second router is associated with data lines to be migrated from the first router to the second router.

Abstract: In one embodiment, an associative memory is built using multiple cascaded associative memory blocks, with stored lookup words spanning a same or different numbers of associative memory blocks. A first lookup operation is performed by a first associative memory to generate first matching indications of associative entries of the first associative memory that match both the first lookup word and the first lookup type. A second lookup operation is performed by an end associative memory to generate end matching indications of associative entries of the end associative memory that match both the end lookup word and the end of word lookup type. A final lookup result indicating a matching multi-block spanning associative memory entry based on the first matching indications and the end matching indications is determined and signaled by the associative memory is built using multiple cascaded associative memory blocks.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods, systems, and articles of manufacture for determining the importance of a data item. A method includes: (a) receiving a node graph; (b) approximating a number of neighbor nodes of a node; and (c) calculating a average shortest path length of the node to the remaining nodes using the approximation step, where this calculation demonstrates the importance of a data item represented by the node. Another method includes: (a) receiving a node graph; (b) building a decomposed line graph of the node graph; (c) calculating stationary probabilities of incident edges of a node graph node in the decomposed line graph, and (d) calculating a summation of the stationary probabilities of the incident edges associated with the node, where the summation demonstrates the importance of a data item represented by the node. Both methods have at least one step carried out using a computer device.

Abstract: A user is provided with both identification of individuals who have authored content responsive to a user's search query and the authored content itself. A user's social network is referenced to identify those individuals to whom the user maintains human connections. Content authored by those individuals is searched and individuals authoring such content are identified, together with the authored content. Additionally, content authored by individuals having unique experiences, perspective, or specialized information is searched to identify responsive content and individuals authoring such content are also identified. An initial identification of responsive individuals comprises a portion of such content and user action directed to an identification of an individual results in additional authored content being presented, thereby enabling the user to recognize the reason for which such an individual was identified in response to the user's search query.

Abstract: A method and computer program product for conducting a weighted keyword search and a method for displaying search results. A computer determines respective weights of respective keywords, based on proximity of a user interaction position to the respective keywords on a graphical presentation. The computer conducts a weighted keyword search of documents based on the keywords and the respective weights of the keywords. In a method of displaying search results, based on the respective weights, a computer displays the search results associated with the respective keywords.

Abstract: Methods and systems obtain manufacturer data from a device being evaluated. The manufacturer data includes a system description, a system object identification, and a device-type description. The system description includes a serial number having a format. The system object identification includes a standards manufacturer field established by a standards organization. The methods/systems evaluate the standards manufacturer field to identify the manufacturer, and rank multiple system object identifications based on the quantity of data within each system object identification. Additionally, the methods/systems match the format of the serial number to known manufacturer serial number formats. The foregoing allows the methods/systems to determine the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of the evaluated device based on the manufacturer appearing in the data string, the rank for each system object identification, and the manufacturer appearing in the serial number format match.

Abstract: A system and method of identifying entities having expertise in one or more subjects. Among other features, the method includes querying a database for documents (e.g., articles, papers, periodicals) relevant to a subject; and calculating a first score for each relevant document. The method also identifies entities affiliated with one or more relevant documents; and calculates a second score for each entity based on the one or more first scores of the one or more relevant documents affiliated with the entity. A step of ranking expertise of the entities based on the respective second scores of the entities is included.

Abstract: Information may be presented to a user in a way that reflects an awareness of the user's current situation. The relationship between user's situation, and various people and things, may be analyzed to determine the user's proximity to those people and things. (Proximity may refer not only to geographic proximity, but also temporal proximity, relevance proximity, etc.) A user interface may show people and things at different levels of proximity to the user's current situation, with the level of proximity being represented visually. The user may reposition the center of focus to one of the people or things depicted. When the center is repositioned, the level of proximity of people and things may be shown relative to the new center of focus, filtered based on existing relationships of those people and things to the user.

Abstract: An interactive expert system and method is disclosed for providing ranked specific chemical product recommendations based upon general application properties information selected by a user and specific application requirements provided by a user. The interactive expert system and method assists users in the selection of chemical products based upon key desired chemical product characteristics and specific application requirements for the desired chemical product that are provided by the users. The interactive expert system and method preferably uses a ranking system that intelligently ranks the results of searching based upon the desired chemical product characteristics and the specific application requirements to order the search results.

Abstract: A test case generation system includes a processor, a process residing on the processor and configured to extract descriptions from document artifacts, extract a first set of keywords from the descriptions, categorize the descriptions to a first set and a second set, extract a second set of keywords that occur in the second set and generate a test case from the second set of keywords.

Abstract: In a method of online collaboration between multiple users, a subject for debate (e.g. a problem to be solved) is posted on a website. A number of keywords are assigned to the subject to categorize it (e.g. economics, healthcare, politics, hospitals). Proposals for the subject (e.g. possible solutions) are submitted by users and posted on the site. Other users give their opinion of these proposals through a rating system that allocates points to the proposal, the rating being based on a number of factors. These include but are not limited to: the opinion of the user rating the proposal (e.g. good, bad, great, very bad); and the points attained by that user's own proposals in related subjects. Thus, ratings submitted for proposals reflect demonstrated expertise of users, giving a more meaningful result.

Abstract: Methods, software and devices for responding to a user query are disclosed. A user query received from a user is matched to stored responses to obtain initial matched responses. A confidence metric indicating the likelihood of the initial matched responses satisfying the user query is calculated. Upon determining the confidence metric to be below a specified threshold, the user query is supplemented with contextual data. The user query, supplemented by contextual data, is further matched to stored responses by applying disparate matching techniques to obtain further matched responses, where at least one of the disparate matching techniques differs from techniques used to obtain the initial matched responses. Degree-of-match metrics are calculated taking into account the contextual data, where each degree-of-match metric indicates a quality of match between the user query and a matched response. At least one of the matched responses is presented to the user.

Abstract: Methods and systems are described herein for providing a media guidance application that identifies users accessing the same media asset, determines which users desire to communicate with each other, and provides an asset-integrated notification to each of the users desiring to communicate, facilitating communication between the users. For example, other users with a desire to communicate with an initial user that are accessing the same media asset as the initial user may be indicated by inserting a media element representative of the other users directly into the media asset watched by an initial user.

Abstract: Based on information associated with users, a social networking system recommends one or more groups for a target user to join or to create. Characteristics of the target user, characteristics of users connected to the target user, characteristics of candidate groups in the social networking system may be used to identify groups for recommendation. The social networking system may provide questions to the target user and recommend a group to the target user based on received answers to the questions. For example, the answers to the provided question identify one or more characteristics of the target user, which are used to select a group for recommendation. Additionally, the social networking system may recommend additional users for the target user to add or invite to a group based on characteristics of the target user, the additional users, and/or the group.

Abstract: A method for generating a playlist may include automatically selecting a plurality of seed songs from a music library based on at least one selection criteria associated with song popularity. The at least one selection criteria may be selected (e.g., randomly) from a plurality of available selection criteria. One of the plurality of seed songs may be selected (e.g., randomly). A first playlist with a plurality of songs from the music library may be generated. The plurality of songs in the first playlist may be automatically selected to be similar to the selected one of the plurality of seed songs. The at least one selection criteria may include one or more of a highest song rating, frequency of song playback within a determined time period, recent song purchase, and social media posting by a user regarding a song from the music library.

Abstract: A computer hardware-implemented method, system, and/or computer program product identifies a null set of synthetic event containing electronic files in a database of electronic files. A synthetic event, which is a non-executable descriptor of a set of context-related factors, is created. A context-based search of a database of electronic files is performed to identify a synthetic event containing electronic file that includes the synthetic event. In response to determining that there are no electronic files in the database of electronic files that contain the synthetic event, a set of binary data is transmitted/broadcast. The set of binary data includes a notice that there are no synthetic event electronic files in the database of electronic files.

Abstract: A method and system for evaluating and sharing user-generated media files have been disclosed. The method and system is embodied in a contest/festival that entices visitors to return to the site to vote on their favorite videos by providing a plurality of phases in which the best performing media files are promoted based on voting scores. According to one embodiment, a computer implemented method comprises generating scores for each media file in four phases and calculating the total score for each of the four phases. The scores are calculated based on the number of views and votes from users for each media file. The votes are generated using questions, percentage of video viewed, comments, social distribution, and recommendations.

Abstract: Various technologies described herein pertain to using social activity data to personalize ranking of results returned by a computing operation for a user. For each of the results returned by the computing operation, a respective first affinity of the user to a corresponding result and a respective second affinity of the user to the corresponding result can be calculated and used for ranking the results. The respective first affinity of the user to the corresponding result can be calculated based on correlations between social activity data of the user and social activity data of a first group of historical users that clicked the corresponding result. Moreover, the respective second affinity of the user to the corresponding result can be calculated based on correlations between the social activity data of the user and social activity data of a second group of historical users that skipped the corresponding results.

Abstract: A behavior analysis system analyzes large volumes of records that report on telecommunications events associated with wireless terminals. The behavior analysis system filters the large volume of available records based on investigation-specific rules, resulting in a set of candidate wireless terminals. The illustrative embodiment determines a pattern of behavior for each candidate. Each candidate is measured for how precisely it satisfies the investigation-specific rules. Each candidate is further analyzed for aberrations, if any, relative to the established pattern of behavior. An aberration tends to prove or disprove whether a candidate is more likely to be a true suspect in the given investigation.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed to selecting and applying data-specific presentations, to adaptively selecting visual presentations based on historical data and to providing rendering hints for data presentations. In one scenario, a computer system receives an indication that a visual presentation is to be applied to a specified portion of data. The computer system analyzes the specified data to determine which of a plurality of data presentations is most relevant for the specified data. The relevance is based on relevancy factors including one or more of the following: end-user profile, structure of the specified data and patterns within the specified data. The computer system then applies the determined appropriate visual presentation to the specified data.

Online activity may be monitored and processed to calculate an indicant of user activity and its influence on other users to obtain a social credit score of the user. Social credit scores may be used to stimulate users to be more active in their online socializing, share their content, and provide information. Social credit scores may be a source of information for advertisers, employers, bankers, and others. Information on social credit scores may be analyzed to determine users with high scores to distinguish top score users and mark them with special prizes, titles, or symbols. Additionally, a list of top scorers may be published via a social networking engine or otherwise as an additional factor of stimulation for other users.

By streaming the data into various message queues and scoring the data before storing in the analysis database, large volumes of data can be efficiently processed and analyzed for a particular person and/or entity.

Abstract: Users receive content recommendations from a personalized, generalized recommendation service that aggregates and selects content of high personal relevance to each individual user from a large pool of both personal and public content. The received content is filtered and the content determined to be relevant is cached. When a user request for content is received, the cached content is rescored and the content determined to be most relevant based on satisfaction of a relevance threshold is selected and forwarded to the user. Feedback methodologies are also implemented so that a user's actions are taken into consideration in real time and can affect subsequent recommendations to the user.

Abstract: The efficient query processing on ordered views includes: obtaining a view definition for a view for database data; obtaining a query to be executed on the database data; identifying any columns in the view that are unnecessary for the query; after processing any predicates of the query, identifying any sorts in the view definition that are unnecessary or redundant in the query; rewriting the query to eliminate the unnecessary columns and unnecessary and redundant sorts; and executing the rewritten query without materializing the view. Thus, the query is rewritten in a way that avoids materializing the view and eliminates duplicate or unnecessary sorts. This reduces the number of rows to be sorted and eliminates unnecessary columns from materialization. These reductions lead to resource savings, including memory, temporary table space required for sorting, and CPU resources.

The popularity measure values provide a measure of a popularity of the media asset provided in digital content and physical content. Popularity measure value weights for the popularity measure values are identified. A digital ranking score for the media asset in digital content is determined based on the popularity measure values and corresponding popularity measure value weights for the digital content. A physical ranking score is determined for the media asset in physical content based on the popularity measure values and corresponding popularity measure value weights for the physical content. A digital ranking weight and a physical ranking weight are identified for the media asset. The method also includes determining a cross-platform ranking score of the media asset based on the physical ranking score, the physical ranking weight, the digital ranking score, and the digital ranking weight.

An application and/or a widget processes and analyzes contact details associated with one or more contacts in order to determine a similarity to one or more other contact details associated with one or more users and/or one or more other contacts. Further, the application and/or the widget can determine one or more social proximity information items associated with the one or more contacts, the one or more users and/or the one or more other contacts and can utilize the social proximity information to manage (e.g., organize, group, sort, etc.) the contact data in the phonebook.

Abstract: A hybrid database table is stored as both a row and a column store. One or more techniques may be employed alone or in combination to enhance performance of the hybrid table by regulating access to, and/or the size of, the processing-intensive column store data. For example during an insert operation, the column store data may be searched for a uniqueness violation only after certain filtering and/or boundary conditions have been considered. In another technique, a hybrid table manager may control movement of data to the column store based upon considerations such as frequency of access, or underlying business logic. In still another technique, querying of the hybrid table may result in a search of the column store data only after an initial search of row store data fails to return a result.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are implemented in one or more processors for processing various social media data received over a network for collection, analysis, and application to business logic and/or business applications. Based on personally identifying information of an account holder, social media data regarding the account holder is retrieved from one or more social media sources or a clearing house over the network. The retrieved social media data is processed (i.e., parsed and/or filtered, and validated) via certain criteria. A usefulness score for the social media data is computed based on various factors including at least one of an identity match value, a truth confidence value, and a context data relevance value. The social media data and its computed usefulness score can be presented to a user and business applications for further processing and treatment of the account holder.
