  • Patent number: 11860729
Abstract: Techniques for predictive system remediation are disclosed. Based on attributes associated with applications of one or more system-selected remedial actions to one or more problematic system behaviors in a system (e.g., a database system), the system determines a predicted effectiveness of one or more future applications of a remedial action to a particular problematic system behavior, as of one or more future times. The system determines that the predicted effectiveness of the one or more future applications of the remedial action is positive but does not satisfy a performance criterion. Responsive to determining that the predicted effectiveness is positive but does not satisfy the performance criterion, the system generates a notification corresponding to the predicted effectiveness not satisfying the performance criterion.

Abstract: Software code is tested to determine relative performance of the software code. Successfully executing a test may be used to flag problems in a code repository to be corrected or criteria for accepting code for acceptance to the repository. To further evaluate test results, the test may be run several times on the same code version to determine a test result stability score describing how the test results may vary in different executions, such as a frequency that the code passes the test. Based on the score, additional tests may be run to further refine test result stability score. To evaluate time-variance of testing, when a code version fails a test, a previous version of the code may be run with the same test and the results compared to determine if a new regression was introduced.

  • Patent number: 11763269
Abstract: Diagnosing vehicle anomalies efficiently is dependent upon the expertise of the repair technician, but also the availability of resources. As vehicles have become increasingly computerized, repair technicians have become increasingly specialized in a smaller number of vehicle models. Dealerships and large repair shops have an advantage in that they can more easily afford to obtain specialized electronic tools. However, repair technicians in smaller repair shops often are more skilled, but are unable to afford access to advanced electronic tools and software. • Patent number: 8892493
Abstract: A “Compatibility Tester” extracts observable behaviors from different system implementations (e.g., software, operating systems, device drivers, hardware interfaces, etc.), then performs compatibility testing via comparisons of the extracted behaviors. Traces (e.g., bus level signals between controllers and hardware devices or commands between software components) representing observable behaviors of different implementations of a system are captured. Temporal and structural rules are then mined from these traces. The mined rules (or a model constructed from those rules) are used by a “Rule Checking” process that determines whether reference rules (mined from a known compatible system) are compatible with rules mined from test traces of a second system. Invalid rules are flagged as behavioral compatibility bugs.

Abstract: In an embodiment of the invention an application provider may include “tracing elements” in a target software application. While working with the application the trace elements are detected and provide a “baseline trace” indicating proper application execution. The provider then supplies the application, which still includes the trace elements, and the baseline trace to a user. The user operates the application to produce a “real-time trace” based on the application still having trace elements that produce trace events. A comparator then compares the baseline and real-time traces. If the traces are within a pre-determined range of each other the user has a level of assurance the software is operating correctly. If the level of assurance is low, an embodiment may trigger a hardware interrupt or similar event to prevent further execution of software. Other embodiments are described herein.

Abstract: An amount of a resource, such as bandwidth, needed to successfully accomplish a target Recovery Point Objective (RPO) is estimated in a data processing environment giving two or more physical or virtual data processing machines. Time-stamped samples of a usage metric for the resource are taken over a usage period. These samples are later accessed and time aligned to determine an average usage metric at defined intervals. An expected tolerance for RPO failure allows determining a first assumed amount of the resource available to achieve a target RPO that is less than might otherwise be expected. These steps can be repeated for other expected replication failure tolerances to allow a risk versus resource available trade off analysis.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for handling unclean shutdowns for a system having non-volatile memory (“NVM”). In some embodiments, the system can leverage from information obtained from index pages in order to efficiently reconstruct logical-to-physical mappings after an unclean shutdown event. In other embodiments, the system can reconstruct logical-to-physical mappings by leveraging from context information stored in a NVM. In further embodiments, context information can be used in conjunction with index pages to reconstruct logical-to-physical mappings after an unclean shutdown.

Abstract: A communication method transmits a detection signal including a valve ID and detection information, receives the detection signal, performs error detection on the valve ID and detection information, and uses the valve ID and detection information when there is no error. The communication method generates third data corresponding to the detection information in accordance with a predetermined rule to increase redundancy of the detection information, generates computed data by performing an exclusive disjunction logic operation with the valve ID and third data, transmits the detection signal that includes the computed data and detection information, receives the detection signal, retrieves the third data corresponding to the detection information from the detection information, restores the valve ID by performing an exclusive disjunction logical operation with the computed data and the third data, and determines whether a restored valve ID conforms to a stored first data.

Abstract: A component in a graph-based computation having data processing components connected by linking elements representing data flows is updated by receiving a rule specification, generating a transform for transforming data based on the rule specification, associating the transform with a component in the graph-based computation, and in response to determining that a new rule specification has been received or an existing rule specification has been edited, updating the transform associated with the component in the graph-based computation according to the new or edited rule specification. A computation is tested by receiving a rule specification including a set of rule cases, receiving a set of test cases, each test case containing a value for one or more of the potential inputs, and for each test case, identifying one of the rule cases that will generate an output given the input values of the test case.

Abstract: A content provider computing device that transmits content to receivers at scheduled air times receives information regarding conditions relating to the transmissions. The computing device also receives data regarding content that a receiver will record. The computing device evaluates the information and compares it with the data to determine that there is a risk of interrupted transmission. As a result, the computing device transmits the content to the receiver prior to the scheduled air time. The conditions may include weather conditions, power outage conditions, and/or any other conditions that may affect transmission. In various implementations, the computing device may include content controls prior to transmission that prevent the content from being accessed prior to specified times. In some cases, the content control may prevent all access. In other cases, the content control may prevent some kinds of access to the instance of content prior to particular times and allow others.

Abstract: In a method for testing serial attached SCSI (SAS) ports of a server using a computing device, the computing device connects to an oscilloscope and a mechanical arm that is equipped with a test fixture having a probe. The mechanical arm controls the probe to be plugged into one of the SAS ports. The method adjusts an intensity grade of the SAS signals through the SAS port, and controls the SAS port to generate a SAS signal corresponding to the intensity grade. The test fixture obtains the SAS signal from the SAS port, and the oscilloscope measures test parameters of the SAS signal. The method analyzes values of the test parameters to find an optimal SAS signal, determines an intensity grade of the optimal SAS signal as a driving parameter of the SAS port, and accordingly generates a test report of the SAS ports.

A third module calculates an access speed index per unit data volume necessary to access each data storage area address. A fourth module generates a distribution table that represents the failure occurrence risk index, the power saving index, and the access speed index for each candidate address, with respect to data to be distributed. A fifth module selects a candidate address in the distribution table such that the power saving index and the access speed index meet restricting conditions and the failure occurrence risk index is minimized, and distributes the data to the candidate address.

The time when the standby system server is added is stored as the reproduction time, and data copied from the data generated at or after the reproduction time is transmitted to the standby system. While the data processing in the in-use system is continued, changes in the execution state which occur in operators holding execution state at or after the reproduction time are recorded. The execution states are copied to the standby system for each operator in parallel with the data processing. At this time, the execution states of the operators at the reproduction time are reproduced from the execution states of the operators when the copy is performed and the record of the changes of the execution states, and the reproduced execution states are copied.
