Abstract: A printer includes a reverse bending member that bends a paper toward an opposite side to a curl of the paper, and a bifurcated member to correct the curl of the paper with the reverse bending member. The reverse bending member is disposed between a paper drawing position and a paper feeding roller. The bifurcated member is swingably arranged about a shaft extending in a width direction of the paper. The bifurcated member includes an upstream arm and a downstream arm. The upstream arm has a tip positioned between the rolled paper and the reverse bending member, and moves toward or from the reverse bending member. The downstream arm has a tip positioned between the reverse bending member and the feeding roller to be in contact with the paper, and rotates in accordance with a tension level of the paper to press the upstream arm toward the reverse bending member.

Abstract: A bend test device and bend test method enable a mandrel bend test to be automatically performed. The bend test device includes a controlled motor, a drive shaft coupled to the motor, a nose piece coupled to the drive shaft, and a nose clamp for securing a device under test (DUT) to the nose piece. A control system connected to the bend test device uses a programmed control algorithm to control the bend test device. The motor is connected to the drive shaft and rotates the drive shaft in response to control signaling provided by the control system. The rotating drive shaft in turn rotates the nose piece. Rotation of the nose piece bends the mounted DUT. The motor rotates the drive shaft as defined by the software parameters and the DUT is bent back and forth across a defined radius edge.

Abstract: The pressures provided by several wheels or rollers on various members of a metal panel are controlled to produce a curved panel of desired radius with little or no distortion. Predetermined pressures are used to achieve the desired curvature and increased pressures provide smaller radii of curvature. For metal “U” panels pressure is preferably applied on two members. For seamed metal panels pressure is preferably applied on three members. Additional curvature may be obtained by use of a curving bar. Motors drive the wheels, which urge these panel members through the wheels, the wheels having a separation distance less than the original thickness of the metal. This results in the metal of those members being elongated, thereby curving the panel with little or no distortion. Abstract: A method and a device for the production of curved spring strip sections. A spring strip runs through a bending unit formed from three separate support points and a reverse bending unit, arranged in series, and formed from a fourth support point. Bent and reverse-bent spring strip sections are separated off from the spring strip in a separator unit. In order to achieve a compact construction for the device, the third support point of the bending unit and the fourth support point of the reverse bending unit are adjustable in position relative to the spring strip, by a controller with pre-set programs.

Abstract: A roll bending die for bending metal into an arc with reinforcing ribs and tapered ends. The roll bending machine includes a body member being designed for being rotatably coupled to the roll bending machine whereby the body member selectively engages a pliable roller of the roll bending machine. The body member is designed for being rotated by the pliable roller when the pliable roller is rotated by the roll bending machine whereby the body member rolls the material into an arc when the material is placed between the body member and the pliable roller. The body member comprises a plurality of ridge portions outwardly extending from a perimeter face of the body member. The ridge portions are designed for pressing ribs into the material when the material is rolled between the body member and the pliable roller of the roll bending machine.

  • Patent number: 6484386
Abstract: An apparatus adapted to form curved beam sections, such as a brake shoe, includes a rollformer, a cut-off device, and a re-former or sweeping device. The rollformer includes rollers constructed and arranged to rollform the sheet material into an elongated linear beam, where the beam has a T-shaped cross-section. The cut-off device cuts the arcuately-shaped beam into segments that are about 9 to 12 inches long. The sweep device is positioned in line with the rollformer (or off-line as a secondary operation) and is adapted to form the beam into a tightly-radiused longitudinal shape, such as about 100 mm radius, where the support flange and center web form an arcuate crescent shape. In an alternative form, the apparatus also has a re-forming device configured to reshape the segments so that the beam section is very accurately formed. However, it is contemplated that, depending upon the arcuately shaped beam section desired, a re-former may not be required.
