  • Patent number: 10046379
Abstract: What is disclosed is a fin forming machine for making fins for heat exchanger cores, or the like, in which the fin forming machine has three major drives and separate controls; the top and bottom drives control the vertical opening and closing of fin forming dies under programmable control in accordance with CNC technology; and a center drive under the control of a separate programmable system which controls horizontal movement of the feedstock into intersection with the top and bottom forming dies to incrementally halt the movement of the feedstock as it intersects with the forming dies upon convergence during fin formation and then advances it a controllable distance for the next fin forming action. These three drive systems being seamlessly variable and controllable during operation, maintain a high degree of calibration of the formation of each fin to maintain fin height and spacing within very close tolerances, which calibrations are achieved without shutting down machine operation.

  • Patent number: 9682411
Abstract: This disclosure presents methods and/or processes for forming a garage door façade using variable pressure. The forming processes, different from common stamping processes, creates a shaded design in a garage door section such that a continuous pattern is realized in the length direction (i.e., the longest side of the garage door section). The forming processes also produces significantly deep and smooth impressions that deform the center of the design. The forming process may be preceded by a texturing process, for example, each garage door section may first be textured and then sent for forming the design.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming cup-shaped members used in conjunction with a single-acting or a double-acting press having an outer punch assembly, an inner punch assembly and a base. A draw pad and a cutting edge are carried on the outer punch assembly, a draw horn is carried on the inner punch assembly and a blank and draw die is carried on the base. The draw pad and the draw horn oppose the blank and draw die such that the draw pad clampingly engages the blank and draw die in order to exert a clamping pressure on the pressure piston system having first and second pistons vertically stacked with respect to one another. The pressure piston system includes a damping member located within the pressure piston system for continuously increasing the clamping pressure during advancement of the outer punch assembly toward the base of the press.
