Abstract: A forging apparatus and a forged product manufacturing method aim to prevent decrease in the temperature of a forging space and the temperature of a forging material, efficiently maintain the uniformity of the temperatures of upper and lower dies, and improve forging efficiency. In the forging apparatus and the forged product manufacturing method according to the present invention, the upper and lower dies are heated by a heating mechanism in a housing in which a charging port of an integrally formed housing body is closed by a door, the upper and lower dies are moved relatively in a facing direction of the upper and lower dies, the heating mechanism is moved relatively in the facing direction with respect to at least one of the relatively moving upper and lower dies, and whereby the forging material is forged between the upper and lower dies. Furthermore, the forged product manufacturing method is used to manufacture a forged product from the forging material.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the joining, to a first conductor that includes a connector, of a second conductor formed by at least one strand made of aluminium or an aluminium alloy and having at least one end, the shape of which allows it to be introduced into the connector of the first conductor. The method has a step of installing the conductors, with the end of the second conductor being inserted into the connector of the first conductor. There is a magnetostriction step which has an electrodynamic force being generated in the connector so that the connector is crushed around the second conductor introduced into the connector. The subject of the invention is also a magnetostriction-generating device. In particular, the invention applies to the connecting-up of energy networks on all (for example, aerospace) carriers and equipment, with high-current and/or long links. The invention may also apply to connections suitable for information transmission on general-purpose conductors.

  • Patent number: 7004004
Abstract: A hardened steel part of complex shape is made from a workpiece by first heating the workpiece to an annealing temperature. Then, while the workpiece is still at the annealing temperature, the workpiece is rapidly deformed by a machine into an intermediate shape. The deformed workpiece is then moved from the machine to a press, and, while the workpiece is still at the annealing temperature, it is deformed in the press to the complex shape and then held in the press to harden the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 6920773
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a tube made of a non-ferrous material, particularly a tube made of mainly copper, by rolling, in which method, in the first working step the tube billet is worked by rolling with conical rolls, so that mainly owing to the deformation resistance, the temperature of the billet under operation rises up to the recrystallization range, at least on the spot that is being worked. Essentially immediately after the first working step, the tube billet is subjected to at least one second working step with a second set of conical rolls, in which case the tube billet is maintained, at least during the first working step and at least a second working step in non-oxidizing conditions. The invention also relates to an apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6874344
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for cold-rolling metallic rolling stock (4), in which the rolling stock (4) passes through the roll nip (3) between oppositely driven rollers (2) at room temperature in order to undergo a plastic shape change. To avoid the problems caused by the use of liquid coolants and to achieve an improved surface quality of the rolling stock (4), the invention proposes that inert gas, which is at a lower temperature than the rolling-stock temperature in the roll nip, is blown into the region of the roll nip (3). The invention also relates to a cold-rolling stand for carrying out this method.
