Abstract: There is provided a press machine which can apply a large compression force to a mold as well as impart smooth vibration only in a rectilinear advancing direction to the mold, and thereby can improve the press-formability. A main slide and a sub-slide constitute a slide and at the same time a cylinder-piston mechanism. During press-forming, a compression force is transmitted to the sub-slide (an upper mold) through hydraulic pressure applied interlockingly with driving of the main slide, and the sub-slide is vibrated with the hydraulic pressure being periodically changed. Favorable press-forming can be performed even under relatively difficult press-forming conditions, by controlling the vibration such that a vibration frequency of the sub-slide (the upper mold) becomes 9 Hz or higher but 33.3 Hz or lower and a vibration amplitude of the sub-slide becomes 0.05 mm or larger but 0.5 mm or smaller.

  • Patent number: 8607606
Abstract: The inventive method involves deforming the extremities of a plate, which has a rectangular edge and is disposed between the working surface of strikers, by ultrasonic forging with the aid of the strikers, simultaneously moving the plate in a transverse direction with respect to the longitudinal axes of the strikers and turning the strikers. Each striker is provided with a groove with a curvilinear generatrix which is made on the surface thereof with a variable radius R. The width of the plate is reduced by a value ?=R(1??/4), wherein R is the variable radius value at a point where the ultrasonic forging of the plate is carried out. The circumferential speed Vcirc.S of the striker rotation is chosen, during the plate displacement, as to correspond to the above-mentioned relationship. In the device, the circumferential speed of the striker rotation is synchronized with the plate displacement velocity. The groove of the striker is designed with the variable radius R.

  • Patent number: 8522594
Abstract: A workpiece enlarging method is provided, by which an enlarged portion can stably be formed on a portion of a workpiece such as a shaft member, and a drive force required to form the enlarged portion can be reduced. The workpiece enlarging method forms the enlarged portion on the workpiece (W) by applying, with respect to the workpiece (W), alternating shear energy in a transverse direction thereof so as to suppress deformation of the workpiece (W) within an elastic limit while applying compression energy that produces compressive stress equal to or greater than an initial yield strength to increase internal energy of the workpiece (W), thereby decomposing a portion of the increased internal energy by the alternating shear energy and deforming and enlarging the enlargement intended area of the workpiece (W) with the assistance of the decomposed energy obtained by the decomposition.

  • Patent number: 6089065
Abstract: A process and device for manufacturing cylindrical hollow bodies out of a blank through cold forming using roll cylinders is provided. The axes of the roll cylinders in this process are essentially adjusted parallel to the axis of the workpiece and execute, essentially radial to the workpiece, an oscillating, reciprocating movement. This reciprocating movement is executed in such a manner that in the upper oscillation stop the roll cylinders and the workpiece preferably just barely touch each other without the application of force, and in the lower oscillation stop preferably dip into the surface of the workpiece up to the desired infeed depth in order to achieve the demanded external diameter of the workpiece. With this process the very high static pressures required for press roll machines can be avoided, which results in small and light engine frames, and simultaneously makes it possible to machine workpieces with flanges directly up to the flanges.

  • Patent number: 5036692
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for bending pipes by clamping one end of the pipe between a formed roll and a rotary base and by turning the rotary base so that the pipe may be bent along the outer periphery of the formed roll. A mandrel supported by a mandrel bar is arranged inside the pipe at a position corresponding to a position slightly behind where the pipe is clamped between the formed roll and the rotary base. The rear end of the mandrel bar is held in place by a pressurizing device so that the mandrel can be held fixed at said predetermined position inside the pipe. At the same time, a vibrating device attached to the mandrel bar causes the mandrel to continuously reciprocate in the axial direction of said mandrel bar, whereby flattening of the pipe which occurs when the pipe is bent along the outer periphery of the formed roll can be corrected by the reciprocation of the mandrel. As a result, the radius of curvature R of the pipe can be made smaller than R=3D, where D is the diameter of the pipe.
