During Rotation Of Work Patents (Class 72/80)
  • Patent number: 9597721
Abstract: A spin forming process and apparatus is disclosed. A workpiece (e.g. sheet metal) is rotated with respect to a forming roller which bears against one of the outer and inner surfaces of the workpiece to deform the workpiece towards a required shape. First and second support rollers bears against the opposite surface of the workpiece. Computer control of the positions of the forming roller and the first and second support rollers allow non-axisymmetric shapes to be manufactured by spin-forming.

Abstract: A method is for producing a circular cylindrical body (10) comprising a workable mass, having at least one helical internal cavity extending in the interior of the body. The body (10) is initially produced with a straight internal recess, for example by means of extrusion. Afterwards the body is cut to a defined length. The body (10) that has been cut to length is then subjected to a rolling process by means of a friction surface arrangement (23) while being supported over the entire length thereof on a support means (16). The rolling process takes place in multiple steps, wherein a rolling movement using a first axis of rotation (25) is performed in a first step, and a rolling movement using a second axis of rotation (26) that is different from the first axis of rotation is used in a second step. Abstract: [Problem] The purpose of the present invention is to provide a form-rolling die and form-rolling method for a compound screw that use a cylindrical material to be threaded, enable the high-precision mass production of compound screws having a right-hand thread portion and a left-hand thread portion on the same region, do not cause rolling defects such as slips, and in which blockages do not occur even in the unlikely event of shavings being generated. [Solution] A form-rolling die structure is provided with die members which are pressed against a material to be threaded and which have rigid surfaces that are relatively displaced. The die members are equipped with a plurality of independent concave portions which form a substantially parallelogram shape when viewed from the normal of a virtual surface obtained by connecting the outermost portions of each of the rigid surfaces, and which are recessed from the virtual surface.

The end walls 2 and axle shafts 3 are made integral with the hollow cylindrical shell 1, the end walls 2 being of a variable thickness which grows into the cylindrical shell 1 in the direction from its periphery to the geometrical axis.A method of manufacture of the conveyor roller wherein the ends of the rotating tubular billet heated to a forging temperature are rolled consecutively until truncated cones are obtained, the smaller base of each cone being somewhat larger than the diameter of the roller axle shaft 3, then, continuing the rolling of each end, the axle shaft 3 and the end wall 2 of the roller are simultaneously formed in the direction from the smaller base of the truncated cone to its larger base, the end wall of the roller being of a variable thickness which grows radially into the cylindrical shell 1 from the periphery to its geometrical axis.

  • Patent number: 4416133
Abstract: A machine for finishing substantially cup-shaped blanks that are to comprise the bodies of saucepans or the like has a table on which the blanks slide horizontally, bottom wall down. They are advanced along the table from station to station by a shuttle conveyor comprising opposite horizontal clamping plates that converge edgewise to engage opposite side wall portions of blanks, move forwardly while converged, then diverge and move rearward to an idle position. At one station there is a hole in the table, and each blank is delivered concentrically onto a freely rotatable tail stock which is in a lowered position in said hole with its top surface level with the table surface. The tail stock rises to clamp the bottom wall of the blank against a concentric continuously rotating driver head spaced above the table.

  • Patent number: 4383427
Abstract: An apparatus for the machining of cylindrical surfaces on machine tools comprising headstock and tailstock centers to support the work placed therebetween, a tool head, and a head with deforming rollers spaced equidistantly apart in a circumferential direction. The heads are consecutively arranged in a housing fitted to the carriage of a machine tool. A portion of the tailstock center that, in operation, is face to face with the work serves as the guide for the deforming rollers and has a diameter virtually equal to the diameter at which the deforming rollers are set. Its end next to the work is adapted to accommodate the point of the tool in a position preparatory to machining.

  • Patent number: 4060707
Abstract: A balancing device and method for balancing a rotating body during operation. The device and method detects the phase and amount of unbalance and provides signals in synchronism with the unbalance. Local heating of the rotating body is provided to counteract the unbalance by thermal deformation of the axis of the body without removing material. The phase and amount of the local heating are controlled in relation to unbalance detected.

  • Patent number: 3964285
Abstract: The specification discloses apparatus and a process for forming the female or bell end of welded wire reinforcing cages, particularly cages of the type used to reinforce concrete pipe. A cylindrical wire cage assembly is automatically centered and positioned within the apparatus and the bell end is formed by elongating one or more of the circumferential wires at one end of the cage. A force is applied between two points on the circumferential wires to simultaneously expand the wires and rotate the cage. A heat source is applied to a localized zone between the two points on the wire. The heat source and wire are moved relative to each other such that the heat zone moves along the wire as the force is applied. The wire is stretched under the force being applied to thereby continuously reduce the diameter of the wire and elongate the wire as it is moved relative to the heat source.
