Abstract: A rotary drive mechanism for use with a timer/sequence switch in an appliance is presented. The mechanism converts linear motion from a cam tracker following a programmed cam track to rotary motion to drive a vent damper in an appliance. The rotary motion output is derived as a multiple of the input linear motion through a gear set. This input linear motion is translated to rotary motion imparted to a tracking rod, which is coupled through the gear set to an output actuating rod. Tracking by a tracking lobe is accommodated by a spring bias force applied though a bias lobe that counteracts the force applied by the cam track. Alternatively, tracking by a tracker is accommodated by a spring bias force applied through a torque arm of the tracking rod that also counteracts the force applied by the cam track.

  • Patent number: 5333986
Abstract: A transfer apparatus for transferring a semiconductor wafer has a base provided with a rotary driving source, and four arms having the same length. A first inner arm has an end fixed to the rotary driving shaft, and the other end fixed to a first coupling shaft. A second inner arm has an end supported by the base such that it can rotate about a pivotal point, and the other end is rotatably connected to a second coupling shaft. A transmission mechanism is provided between the first and second coupling shafts. A first outer arm has an end rotatably connected to the first coupling shaft, and a second outer arm has an end fixed to the second coupling shaft. The other ends of the first and second outer arms are rotatably connected to a supporting plate having a wafer-holding portion. The four arms are arranged so as to have a link structure in the form of a parallelogram, which enables linear transfer of a wafer.

  • Patent number: 5324119
Abstract: A needle roller bearing is directed to avoid a possibility that an inner peripheral surface of a bore in a housing may be ground or scraped by an edge defining a peripheral lip region of an opening in an outer race when a needle roller bearing is to be press-fitted into the bore in the housing and also to eliminate the need to adjust the position of a roller retainer while increasing a physical strength of the roller retainer. For this purpose, the outer race is formed with a first opening having a pair of axially spaced tabs bent so as to incline radially inwardly of the outer race from the remaining portion of the outer race. The roller retainer is in the form of a tubular member having a circumferentially continuous wall formed with a second opening at a location aligned with the first opening in the outer race. The roller retainer has a substantially intermediate portion protruding radially outwardly so as to have an outer diameter greater than that of any one of the opposite ends of the roller retainer.

  • Patent number: 5301533
Abstract: A workpiece engaging apparatus includes a drive having a linearly reciprocal drive member. Two pairs of arms are arranged in opposed, inverted relationship with respect to each other and are pivotally connected at one end to the drive. Each arm has a cam formed therein. The cams in each of the pairs of arms are identically constructed, but the cams in one pair are disposed in opposed, inverted relationship with respect to the cams in the opposed pair of arms. Cam follower members mounted on the linear drive member engage the cams during reciprocal movement of the drive member to pivot the pairs of arms between an open, spaced-apart position and a closed workpiece engaging position. Each of the cams includes a first arcuate shaped first end portion which smoothly merges into a substantially linear second end portion.

Abstract: A bicycle saddle tightening device comprised of an adjusting axle, a locating cylinder, two eye bars and two locknuts, and used in securing a bicycle saddle to a seat pillar or securing a bicycle's seat pillar to a seat tube, wherein said adjusting axle has two left-sided eccentric circular blocks at two opposite ends and a right-sided eccentric circular therebetween; two eye bars include a first eye bar having two loops at one end respectively mounted on the two left-sided eccentric circular blocks and an opposite end locked by one locknut, and a second eye bar having a loop at one end mounted on the right-sided eccentric circular block and an opposite end locked by the other locknut. Rotating said adjusting axle on the locating cylinder in one direction causes the two eye bars to move toward each other into a "tightened" position; rotating the adjusting axle on the location cylinder in the other direction causes the two eye bars to move apart from each other into a "loosened" position.

  • Patent number: 5176037
Abstract: An actuator suitable for use with a valve has a design allowing for easy control or adjustment of the force applied to the valve. The actuator motor has a cam which operates a follower surface of a spring-loaded arm mounted for rotation on a carriage. The carriage is mounted for linear motion and connected to the control element of the valve. The actuation force can be controlled or adjusted by changing the relative positions of the arm's center of rotation, the point on the arm at which the spring applies force, and the position of the cam. In a preferred embodiment, the position of the arm's center of rotation is changed by moving a pin from one set of holes in the carriage and the arm to a second set of holes in the carriage and the arm.
