Publication number: 20140238162Abstract: This invention refers to a speed reducer made up of a chain carrying nuts and of a screw, i.e., a ball screw in the case of the first embodiment, a roller screw in the second embodiment. The ball screw or the roller screw drives the nuts when these are aligned on one of the straight stretches of the chain. The ball screw, or the roller screw, can be almost as long as the distance between the centers of the output sprockets on which the chain is mounted; given these features and because the nuts wrap the ball screw, or the roller screw in a great surface, the load capacity is high. Given that in both embodiments the contact is rolling, friction is therefore low and as a consequence, efficiency is high, so high indeed that it allows this invention also to serve as an amplifier.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 23, 2014Publication date: August 28, 2014Applicant: Universidad Nacional Autonoma De MexicoInventors: Enrique Jaime Chicurel Y Uziel, Filiberto Gutierrez Martinez

Publication number: 20110100358Abstract: In accordance with one embodiment, a parabolic trough system is disclosed to capture solar heat. It has low mass, high rigidity and precise robust rotational control. The trough does not require massive supports, since it use a “sandwich structure” where the core is lightweight urethane foam and the skin is made of aluminum sheet. The inside skin also functions as the parabolic reflector. The shape minimizes wind loads by centering the receiver in the parabola and by making the center of focus the center of rotation. The system can be rapidly built in the field since there are few parts. Assembly does not require heavy equipment. Support posts are used on both sides of the trough to minimize the anchoring requirements in wind loads. The trough bodies are rotated in a rotational control mechanism that uses circumscribing rings to support a continuous row of troughs that can sustain 120 mile per hour winds. Optical performance is improved with the drive ring design.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 1, 2010Publication date: May 5, 2011Inventor: Randal Jerome Perisho

Patent number: 7549361Abstract: A vibration damping device is described that dampens vibration produced during the conversion of rotational motion into reciprocal motion. The damping is performed using a simple structure wherein first and second conversion mechanisms are symmetrically arranged with respect to a plane of symmetry, first and second rotating shafts rotate opposite to each other at a constant speed, and the rotational motion is converted into reciprocal motion. The total of mass acting on gravity centers of a first balancer and a second balancer is approximately equal to the total of mass reciprocally driven by a first driving shaft and a second driving shaft. Both gravity centers are positioned 180 degrees to the first driving shaft and second driving shaft across the axes of the first rotating shaft and second rotating shaft. As a consequence, the forces in the direction of an axis can be balanced suppressing vibration.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2003Date of Patent: June 23, 2009Assignee: Shima Seiki Manufacturing LimitedInventor: Kenji Ikoma

Patent number: 6279192Abstract: A windshield wiper assembly for use in a motor vehicle. An electric motor is operatively connected to and powered by an on-board electrical supply provided by the vehicle. The motor forms a part of a housing mounted within an engine compartment of the vehicle at a location remote from the vehicles windshield. A driving wheel and linkage member convert a rotary output of the motor into a translating and reciprocating driving force. A drive mechanism is mounted proximate a lower edge of the windshield, beneath a cowl portion, and with a first wiper arm pivotally securing to the drive mechanism at a first location and a second wiper arm likewise pivotally securing to the drive mechanism at a second location. An elongated and internally hollowed sleeve extends between the housing and the drive mechanism. The sleeve encloses a flexible and incompressible cable securing to the motor and drive housing at a first end and to the drive mechanism at a second end.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2000Date of Patent: August 28, 2001Assignee: Norwood Enterprise, LLCInventors: Marey C. Patent number: 5971721Abstract: An energy efficient high pressure pump system includes a drive motor driving an eccentric transmission, which drives a reciprocation pump having a number of cylinders. The eccentric transmission transmits a torque demand from the reciprocating pump, which varies with time, to the drive motor such that the torque demand on the drive motor is substantially constant. The pump system includes an eccentric sprocket mounted on the output shaft of a drive motor and driving an eccentric sprocket on an idler which includes a concentric sprocket driving a concentric sprocket on the reciprocating pump with the eccentricity of the eccentric sprockets being proportional to the maximum and minimum torque demand characteristics of the reciprocating pump.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 1998Date of Patent: October 26, 1999Assignee: Thermo Fibertek Inc.Inventor: Peter T.
