Patent number: 10935121Abstract: A strain wave gearing has a rigid internally toothed gear, a flexible externally toothed gear, and a sliding-contact type wave generator. The wave generator has: a plurality of gear pressing members that flexes the externally toothed gear in the radial direction at positions at equal angular intervals in the circumferential direction to form plurality of meshing portions which mesh with the internally toothed gear; and piezoelectric elements that generate ultrasonic vibration of 20 kHz to 80 kHz in the gear pressing members in the radial direction. Ultrasonic vibration is applied at contact sites where the gear pressing members and the externally toothed gear contact each other. As a result of a squeeze film effect, the apparent friction coefficient of each contact surface at the contact sites can be greatly reduced and rotational torque, of the wave generator can be reduced.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2017Date of Patent: March 2, 2021Assignee: HARMONIC DRIVE SYSTEMS INC.Inventor: Masaru Kobayashi

Publication number: 20090025500Abstract: A wave gear device is proposed having an anti-ratcheting mechanism having a simple configuration, wherein a center through-hole is formed in a cylinder hub of a wave generator, a small-diameter shaft end portion of a rotating input shaft is concentrically inserted in the center through-hole, and the two members are fastened by a fastening bolt, and a friction ring is concentrically sandwiched between the small-diameter shaft end portion and the cylinder hub and pressed in the radial direction with a prescribed force, whereby when transmission torque from the rotating input shaft to the wave generator 4 becomes excessive, slippage occurs in the rotational direction between the two members, transmission torque is limited, ratcheting generated between the two gears can be prevented.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 25, 2008Publication date: January 29, 2009Applicant: HARMONIC DRIVE SYSTEMS INC.Inventor: Masaru KOBAYASHI

Patent number: 5092190Abstract: A transmission device in which planetary gears are disposed on the periphery of a sun gear so that each planetary gear can effect gear transmission and can revolve around the sun gear, and in which an internal gear wheel is disposed so as to wrap round the planetary gears so that the planetary gears can effect gear transmission in association with the internal gear wheel. A sun roller coaxial with the sun gear and capable of freely rotating independently of the sun gear is provided, and planetary rollers are also provided with being respectively coaxial with the planetary gears, freely rotatable independently of the same and having a rolling contact with the sun roller. An outer ring is disposed around the planetary rollers and has a rolling contact with the planetary rollers.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 1990Date of Patent: March 3, 1992Assignee: Daishowa Seiki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Haruaki Kubo, Yoshiyuki Kamanaka

Patent number: 4938094Abstract: A device for effecting fine adjustment of the orientation of a steering wheel on a shaft (10), which are joined together by a fastener (30), has a sleeve (40) interposed between the end (11) of the shaft (10) and the hub (20) of the steering wheel. The sleeve and the shaft define between them an annular chamber (42) in which is housed a friction member (50) opposing their spontaneous relative rotation. The fine adjustment, limited to a value of about 9.degree., is made with the aid of an arrangement including a control mechanism, amplitude limiters, and stops. These stops ensure continuity of transmission of the torque exerted on the steering wheel to the shaft in the event of slackening of the fastener or failure of the amplitude limiters.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1988Date of Patent: July 3, 1990Assignee: ECIA - Equipements et Composants pour l'Industrie AutomobileInventor: Jean-Pierre Cochard

Patent number: 4825729Abstract: A torque transfer gear system comprises a plurality of first and second torque disks. The first torque disks each comprise a disk having first and second parallel surfaces and a plurality of gear teeth extending equiangularly thereabout but not extending radially beyond the associated disk circumference. The second torque disks likewise include a disk having a plurality of equiangularly disposed teeth, and the teeth do not extend beyond the associated disk circumference. The first torque disks are disposed in spaced apart relation and are rotatable on parallel axes. The second torque disks are also disposed in spaced apart relation and the teeth of the second torque disks are in meshing engagement with the teeth of the adjacent first torque disks. Application of torque to one of the first torque disks causes all torque disks to rotate and thereby transfer torque from one disk to another.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 1987Date of Patent: May 2, 1989Inventor: Norbert L. Patent number: 4750377Abstract: A rotary assembly for rotating a vessel such as a rotary kiln with a minimum amount of heat transfer to the driving element. A pluraltiy of coupling assemblies are provided which include a first bracket attached to the vessel. Pivotally connected to the bracket is a link member having an opposite pivot point on the driving element. With the coupling arrangement, heat from the inner rotating element which causes different rates of thermal expansion with respect to the girth gear does not produce high stresses on either element.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1986Date of Patent: June 14, 1988Assignee: Fuller CompanyInventor: John Carr

Patent number: 4649776Abstract: A torque transmitting wrench assembly comprises a plurality of serially arranged gears positioned between a first tool gear and a second tool gear in a housing. Each of the serially arranged gears includes gear teeth defining an outer idler gear tooth perimeter and at least one annular peripheral bearing surface with a perimeter substantially the same as the outer idler gear tooth perimeter. The housing is formed of two parts and includes at least one recess having an arcuate periphery, for receiving the bearing surface.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1985Date of Patent: March 17, 1987Inventor: Norbert L.
