  • Patent number: 11333234
Abstract: Embodiments of a system, method and apparatus for a gear are disclosed. For example, a metallic gear hub can include an axis of rotation and metallic gear teeth. The metallic gear teeth can be smaller than a final gear teeth size of the gear. The metallic gear teeth can be co-planar with the axis. In addition, the metallic gear teeth can be non-orthogonal to the axis. A polymer layer can be located on the metallic gear teeth to form polymer gear teeth on the metallic gear teeth. The polymer gear teeth can form the final gear teeth size of the gear.

  • Patent number: 10612641
Abstract: The present invention relates to a ring gear and a gear reduction device. The ring gear includes an annular body with a plurality of mounting portions, and a plurality of teeth arranged on an inner circumferential surface of the annular body. The annular body and the teeth are integrally formed from powder metal, and the mounting portions and the teeth are at least partly overlapped in an axial direction of the annular body. The mounting portions are integrally formed with the annular body and the teeth, which results in concentricity between the mounting portion and the teeth being improved and cost of the ring gear being reduced. Furthermore, the mounting portions are overlapped with the teeth, which reduces the axial size of the ring gear.

  • Patent number: 8943921
Abstract: An internal gear and cap assembly includes a gear having a base that extends about an axis between a first and second end. The first end defines a groove that extends to a floor and the groove surrounds the axis. Teeth extend from the base. A lip extends from the first end and also surrounds the axis. A cap has a flange that is inserted into the groove. The lip is deformed toward the groove such that material from the lip flows to trap the flange between the lip and the floor of the groove to retain the cap to the gear in the axial direction. Slots may be defined in the flange such that the material from the lip flows into the slots to provide a key-lock between the cap and the gear to prevent rotation of the cap relative to the gear about the axis.

  • Patent number: 6035737
Abstract: A transmission assembly includes an inner housing member and an outer band member. The outer band member is slidingly received over the outer surface of the inner housing member. An inner surface of the outer band member includes a plurality of notches. After the outer band member is placed in a desired radial and axial alignment with the inner housing member, a plurality of deformations are lanced in the inner housing member. The deformations extend radially outward into the notches formed in the band member. The cooperation between the lanced deformations and the notches maintain the two pieces of the transmission assembly in an desired axial and radial alignment.

  • Patent number: 4912998
Abstract: In a gear arrangement consisting of two gears meshed with each other, at least one gear is constructed of a teeth portion having teeth along its circumference and a shaft portion adapted to be mounted to a support shaft, a gap space is retained between the teeth portion and the shaft portion, and an elastic body such as an O-ring, an annular spring, etc. is interposed in the gap space. And a tooth thickness of one gear of the above-mentioned two gears is made larger than that of the other gear. When the above-described two gears are meshed with each other, the teeth portion of the gear having the elastic body interposed therein moves in the radial direction with respect to the shaft portion, and thereby the teeth of the respective gears can be meshed without backlash.

  • Patent number: 4704864
Abstract: In a spoked drive wheel for a hydrodynamic torque converter operating with power splitting, having a spoke for connecting a wheel hub to an external ring of the spoked drive wheel, the spoke cross-section is designed in the shape of a wing profile extending along a profile main axis. The profile main axis is transverse to the axis of rotation of the wheel. In this way, the deterioration in the characteristics of the torque converter is kept as small as possible in both power splitting operation and in operation without power splitting.
