  • Patent number: 6161447
Abstract: A selection system for an automatic motor vehicle transmission has a selector element for selecting transmission adjustments (P, R, N, D) which can be manually adjusted. A toggle lever arrangement connected with the selector element acts transversely to the moving direction of a locking element. As a result, a manual force on the selector element cannot be transmitted or can only be transmitted in a highly reduced manner to the locking element. To reduce the overall size of the systems, the locking element is preferably an armature of a solenoid arranged parallel to the axes of rotation of the toggle lever arrangement.

Abstract: A vehicle immobilizing system for engaging a brake pedal of a vehicle and locking the brakes of the vehicle in an activated position, but which does not interfere with the operation of the vehicle's brakes when the vehicle is being operated. The vehicle immobilizing system includes a standard vehicle brake pedal assembly, a retractable locking shaft, a solenoid, for extending and retracting the retractable locking shaft, a locking tumbler to prevent the retractable locking shaft from being physically forced open to deactivate the vehicle's brakes, and an activation switch for the immobilizing system. • Patent number: 5695429
Abstract: A shift lock arrangement for an automatic transmission shift lever device having a shift lock lever in contact with a position pin of the shift lever device positioned in a parking position has a lock lever in contact with the shift lock lever to restrict the movement of the position pin in the parking position. A key lock unit is connected with the shift lock lever so that the shift lock lever keeps latching the position pin in the parking position when an automotive key is not set therein. A slidable stopper pin is connected with a push rod pushed by a brake pedal in a released condition. The stopper pin latches the shift lock lever so as to prevent the movement of the position pin from the parking position to the other positions when the brake pedal is in the released condition. When the brake pedal is depressed, the push rod is released from the brake pedal and the stopper pin is disengaged from the shift lock lever.

  • Patent number: 5542512
Abstract: In a selector device for an automatic transmission system, a rotatable member is supported by a first pivot shaft, and a selector lever is tiltably supported by the rotatable member by a second pivot shaft extending substantially perpendicularly to the first pivot shaft. A base end of the selector lever is bifurcated into a pair of engagement claws, and a checker cam is positioned in a gap defined between the engagement claws. A slide member can be slid into between the checker cam and the associated engagement claw to prevent the tilting movement of the selector lever. Thus, the slide member which is typically associated with a shift lock mechanism can prevent the tilting movement of the selector lever and, hence, the shifting of the selector lever from the P range position. Because the force applied to the selector lever is supported by the slide member as a compressive load, no substantial stress is applied to the actuator or the linkage provided between the actuator and the slide member.

The drive includes a speed control apparatus having a movable control element for causing the speed of the drive to vary in accordance with the positioning of the control element. Manual control of the operation of the vehicle is effected by an adjustment of a manually operable speed lever which is connected to the movable control element by an improved linkage arrangement. The linkage arrangement includes a ball connector received in a guide channel for effecting rotation of a pivot member connected to the speed control means. Selective positioning of the ball connector in the guide channel effects selective movement of the pivot member in either of opposite directions of rotation and to an extent controlled by the movement of the manually operable speed lever.

  • Patent number: 4096930
Abstract: An automobile transmission gear shift selector brake interlock mechanism, for selectively preventing inadvertent movement of a motor vehicle gear shift selector mechanism, between a non-drive `park` or "neutral" position, and a "drive" position, including a hydraulically, or mechanically-actuated interlock pin mechanism that is movable between a position in the path of the gear shift selector mechanism, and a removed position out of the path of the gear shift selector mechanism, when a motor vehicle brake pedal is actuated.

  • Patent number: 4067423
Abstract: A mobile rig for drilling blast holes comprises a rotatable drill holder mounted on an upright mast. A torque converter and transmission are connected between a prime mover (I.C. engine or electric motor) on the rig and the drill holder. The torque converter includes a servo controlled modulatable torque converter input (slipping) clutch for driving the drill holder at desired rotational speeds. The transmission includes a pair of solenoid actuated directional clutches selectively energized for driving the drill holder in either forward or reverse directions (threading).

  • Patent number: 4064823
Abstract: An outboard motor unit includes a shift lever pivotally mounted on a shaft to one side of powerhead with a central vertical neutral position and pivoted forwardly and rearwardly for forward and reverse drive. The unit includes an electric starter and a start pushbutton control mounted forwardly of the pivot shaft. The shift lever is formed with a forwardly projecting interlock plate having a central notch aligned with the button only in the neutral position. Forward or reverse pivoting causes the plate to move over the start button and prevents starting in other than neutral. The start button may be located such that the vertical lever moves over button in forward and a projecting plate moves over the button in reverse.

  • Patent number: 3993175
Abstract: The power train of a crawler tractor comprises a hydraulically operated modulating main clutch (operated by a clutch control valve) for transmitting motive power from the tractor engine to a hydraulically operated reversible multi-speed range power shift transmission (operated by a shift selector valve) for varying the speed at the output shaft of the transmission. A control lever assembly at the tractor operator's station comprises a manually operable gear selector lever and a manually operable safety lever. The gear selector lever is pivotally mounted on an oscillatable shaft and movable laterally in opposite directions from a centered neutral position to rotate the oscillatable shaft and thereby operate the shift selector valve (connected to the oscillatable shaft) and shift the transmission to either first or second speed ranges in either forward or reverse direction.

  • Patent number: 3967709
Abstract: The invention comprises a transmission control console attachable to a vehicle. The console includes an enclosure with a gear shift regulator extending therefrom, the regulator serving to control the transmission of the vehicle. Generally, the regulator will have forward, reverse, and neutral settings. Also a part of the console is a parking brake actuator adjacent the enclosure, the actuator serving to control a parking brake of the vehicle. Means are provided responsive to movement of the actuator to cause engagement of the parking brake for interlocking the actuator to the regulator only when the regulator is in its neutral setting, whereby shifting out of the neutral setting is prevented when the actuator and the regulator are interlocked, and engagement of the brake is prevented when the regulator is not in the neutral setting.
