Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a mechanical AND-gate logic system that may make use of a first and second lever arms, a first pivot linkage coupling the lever arms, an output member, and a second pivot linkage coupling the second lever arm to the output member. The first lever arm has first and second spaced apart ends for independently receiving separate logic level 1 or logic level 0 input signals thereon, and an output end spaced apart from the first and second input ends. The output end is disposed generally equidistant from the first and second spaced apart ends. The second lever arm has an input end and an output end and can move in both pivoting and translating movements. The first pivot linkage couples the output end of the first lever arm to the input end of the second lever arm such that both the input end and the output end of the second lever arm are able to either pivot and or to translate.

  • Patent number: 6805228
Abstract: A plurality of clutch levers transmit force to a pressure plate of a clutch. The lever ratio of the clutch lever is variable as the clutch lever moves from an engaged to a disengaged state. When the clutch is engaged, the clutch lever presses the pressure plate to engage clutch discs. The lever ratio of the clutch lever is relatively large, allowing for an acceptable clamp load. When the clutch is disengaged, the clutch lever lifts from the pressure plate, disengaging the pressure plate from the clutch discs. When the clutch is disengaged, the lever ratio is relatively small, allowing for more clearance between the pressure plate and the flywheel and an increase in pressure plate lift. By using a clutch lever having a variable lever ratio, both clamp load and clutch lift can be maximized. The conditions exist during the entire lift of the clutch.

Abstract: A valve actuator having a pivotal cam-lever driven push-pull mechanical linkage system. A power mechanism moves a cam-lever member which then moves a connecting rod to move a push-pull member to lift out or push in a conventional valve stem. This then opens or closes the valve. In an alternative embodiment, the actuator includes an adjustable block member to which the cam-lever is pivotally attached. This provides a separate adjustability for the ultimate maximum movement of the push-pull member and thereby also of the valve stem in order to ensure a proper closing force is imparted to the valve. Also in this embodiment, it is preferred that the push-pull member includes at least one spring washer disposed therein. Abstract: A paste injector gun, especially adapted for injecting bone cement, has first and second mechanical advantages. In a first embodiment, the first and second mechanical advantages are produced by two fulcrums engageable during different portions of the trigger stroke. In a second embodiment, the first and second mechanical advantages are produced by a fixed fulcrum and a rotatable fulcrum. The first mechanical advantage is greater than the second such that the first facilitates pressurizing the bone cement and the second facilitates high volume dispensing of the bone cement. The injector gun also includes a pair of U-shaped slots. One of the slots is sized to accept a large cement cartridge and the other slot is sized to accept a small cement cartridge. An alternative embodiment provides a hinged cartridge retaining gate for closing the U-shaped slots for positive retention of the cartridge.

Abstract: A parking brake control for operating a parking brake cable between a release position and a brake engagement position comprises a mounting plate assembly, an input lever assembly which translates and rotates with respect to the mounting plate assembly, and a sector which is slidably attached to the mounting plate assembly and rotatable in response to movement of the input lever assembly, wherein rotation of the sector towards the brake engagement position produces a tension force on a cable. The parking brake control can further comprise a first rivet extending into a slot in the input lever assembly; preferably the sector rotates around the first rivet. In addition, a second rivet may be attached to the input lever assembly and received by both a cam slot in the mounting plate assembly and a slot in the sector. The parking brake control produces an output tension force on the cable, pulling the cable away from the parking brake to actuate the parking brake.

  • Patent number: 5758547
Abstract: A foot-operated parking brake actuator applies a parking brake by moving an input pedal lever between a brake-released position and a plurality of brake-applied positions to operate a cable to apply and release a vehicle parking brake. A mounting bracket pivotally mounts the pedal for pivotal movement about a first pivot. A sector gear is secured to the bracket with its center on the first pivot, and mounts a cable take-up reel. The cable is attached to the reel which is pivotally mounted on the pedal lever about a second pivot. A pinion is secured to the reel for engagement with the sector gear upon pedal lever movement to brake-apply positions to wind the cable on the reel. Cable winding occurs at a sequence of variable input/output force ratios of input pedal lever force to output cable force or load to apply the parking brake, the ratio varying with pedal movement because of the complex movement of the reel.
