  • Patent number: 5598746
Abstract: A transmission assembly used to connect with a rotatable ornament or a toy to provide bilateral rotations for achieving their cosmetic effect comprises a casing enclosing a set of three pinions which are driven by a battery-operated electrical circuit therein. An elastic rectangular bar used to restrict the rotary extent of a first pinion will elastically obstruct the rotary movement of the pinion in order to provide continuous bilateral rotation and each turn of the bilateral rotation will exceed 360.degree. without making any noise. The noses of the spindles of the pinions are formed as tapering sockets or as tapering pointed plugs to enhance the intensity of the assembly. Most of the components in this assembly are made integrally of plastic material so as to reduce the time and cost to manufacture.

  • Patent number: 5598747
Abstract: An improved structure supports a bearing in a bore provided in a portion of a transmission case and prevents relative rotation therebetween. In a preferred embodiment, the clutch housing portion of a transmission case is made from aluminum and includes an interior wall having a bore formed therein. A circumferential groove is formed in the side wall of the bore, and a compressible or elastomeric O-ring is disposed in the groove. A bearing is made from steel and includes an inner race, an outer race, and a plurality of rollers disposed between the races. As the bearing is pressed into the bore, the O-ring is compressed completely within the groove. So long as both the aluminum clutch housing and the steel outer race of the bearing remain in a relatively cold condition, the outer race will frictionally engage the inner surface of the bore, thus preventing any relative rotational movement therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5596911
Abstract: A drive gear for a group of cylinders and a method in the drive of cylinders in which the drive gear has a box frame including a front plate, a rear plate, and side plates, and to which box frame, rotational drive is introduced from outside the gearbox through a shaft. Rotation of the shaft causes rotation of a cogwheel and further, two other cogwheels are rotated which are in contact with this cogwheel, and the drive is transferred to both sides of the gearbox and further to the cylinders. The box frame of the gearbox is stationarily supported on a foundation which receives the weight of the gearbox shafts and cogwheels and the weight of the box frame. The load arising from the weight of the gearbox is transferred to the foundation through the box frame of the gearbox. Two cylinders and their shafts can be operated so that, between the shafts and the gearbox, there is a floating coupling which permits certain angular changes for the shafts of the driven cylinders.

  • Patent number: 5513717
Abstract: An integrated hydrostatic transaxle having a common housing for a hydrostatic transmission and a pair of oppositely-extending differentially-connected axles to have the common housing provide a common sump therefor and with a specifically-shaped center section interconnecting the pair of hydraulic displacement units constituting the hydrostatic transmission. The center section is a unitary member separate from the common housing, with the exterior thereof exposed to the common sump. The center section has passages and arcuate ports which are interconnected by certain of said passages and which are located whereby the center section may be cast to minimize any machining required to finish the center section. Such casting can result in a porous center section with possible leakage from a passage having high pressure fluid.

Abstract: A cable window lifter with a driving unit includes a drive housing having an internal cavity therein. A cable drum is disposed within the internal cavity and has an internal gear provided along an internal portion of the drum. A pinion gear is disposed within the internal portion of the cable drum and includes teeth that engage the internal gear of the cable drum. The pinion gear is driven manually or by a motor. A support core is disposed between a portion of the internal gear of the cable drum and a portion of the pinion gear teeth. The support core prevents the lateral deflection of the pinion gear teeth out of the internal gear of the cable drum during imposition of an overload force onto the pinion gear, thereby assuring improved running quality of the driving unit and reducing the forces occurring in the driving unit.

  • Patent number: 5511330
Abstract: A transmission system for louver type signs wherein the signs consist of a plurality of multiple faced louvers having indicia defined thereon and the side-by-side relationship of the louvers permits pre-selected faces to define a completed image and simultaneous partial rotation of the louvers presents a new visible image, and wherein, each louver is operated by a separate "T" drive bevel gear transmission having an output shaft upon which a louver is mounted operatively connected to a drive shaft perpendicularly related to the output shaft. The drive shafts of adjacent transmissions are interconnected and a plurality of transmissions are simultaneously operated by a single motor drive source. The cost of the transmissions is significantly reduced by the use of a unique bearing support system for the drive and output shafts eliminating the need for separate bearings in that the material of the transmission casing constitutes the shafts' bearing surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5509949
Abstract: An apparatus for venting a transmission is disclosed which provides a transmission breather for allowing pressure equalization between the interior and exterior of a transmission while reducing or eliminating fluid expulsion from the transmission due to bridging of a fluid film across the breather. The breather includes a standpipe disposed within a housing which contains a filter. Air, transmission fluid, mist, and vapor flow through the standpipe and through the filter which captures the fluid, mist and vapor while allowing filtered air to be vented to the environment through at least one aperture in the housing. The filter facilitates coalescence of the transmission fluid which is returned to the transmission via at least one space formed between the standpipe and the housing. In one embodiment, the breather is mounted to a shift bar housing of the transmission.

  • Patent number: 5505112
Abstract: A gear device such as a change gear transmission of the countershaft (21) type in which, mounted for rotation about the countershaft is a larger gear (17) and a smaller gear (29). The transmission housing (11) defines a first lubricant reservoir (R1), having a nominal fill level (L1), which is able to lubricate the smaller gear as it rotates. A partition member (51) is disposed around the larger gear and defines a second lubricant reservoir (R2) through which the larger gear passes as it rotates. The partition member defines fluid passages (71,73) providing restricted communication from the first reservoir to the second reservoir. The fluid passages (71,73) are sized such that as the larger gear rotates, carrying lubricant out of the second reservoir (R2), there is maintained in the second reservoir a second fill level (L2), below the first fill level (L1) such that at least a portion of the teeth of the larger gear (17) pass just below the second fill level as the larger gear rotates.
