Tooth-inserters Patents (Class 76/80)
  • Patent number: 10710174
Abstract: A slitting cutter having a disk-shaped cutter body with a plurality of circumferentially spaced insert receiving portions and a plurality of cutting inserts retained therein. Each insert receiving portion has first and second clamping jaws spaced apart by an insert receiving slot, the first clamping jaw resiliently displaceable and having a resilient axis of rotation. The number of cutting inserts resiliently clamped in the slitting cutter is an inner cutting diameter defined by the plurality of resilient axes of rotation multiplied by a spacing factor of between 0.15 and 0.30. A tool key having first and second key prongs is used in combination with the slitting cutter. The second key prong has a thrust surface with a concave profile. In a partially assembled position of the slitting cutter the thrust surface contacts at least one of two spaced apart first and second corner surfaces of the respective cutting insert.

  • Patent number: 9855609
Abstract: A parting tool is in the form of a blade and a replaceable cutting insert, as well as, a key having an eccentric body. The cutting insert may be clamped in a seat under an elastic, resilient clamping finger. In the blade, a keyhole is formed, into which the eccentric body can be inserted. In the keyhole, there are included concave sliding surfaces, which border on a flat stop surface. With these, convex corner surfaces and flat shoulder surfaces on the eccentric body can interact. By the unique design of the keyhole and eccentric body, a gentle interaction between the surfaces is obtained, which guarantees a long service life of the blade, as well as the key.

  • Patent number: 7613071
Abstract: A system for remotely controlling, acquiring and monitoring the acquisition of seismic data. The system includes remote equipment for collecting seismic data and for transmitting and receiving communication signals to and from a remote location. The system also includes local equipment for transmitting and receiving communication signals to and from the remote location. In this manner, the collection of seismic data at remote locations can be controlled and monitored locally.

  • Patent number: 7137316
Abstract: A saw blade is formed from a blank which has an edge. Inserts, such as tungsten carbide are inserted in apertures in the blank and a finishing cut is then made along the line to produce a series of teeth, each having a point within the body of the insert, and thus formed by the relatively hard material of the insert. Fingers of the inserts provide a root which holds the insert in position during use.

  • Patent number: 6523438
Abstract: A method for the attachment of teeth to blanks is distinguished in that a tooth 41 is mounted to a saw blade blank 47 after the tooth 41 and the saw blade blank 47 are measured. The characteristic geometric values of the tooth 41 and the saw blade blank 47 are recorded. Holding means, which can be displaced, align the tooth 41 relative to the saw blade blank 47 or vice versa in such a fashion that the tooth 41 can be attached to the saw blade blank 47 with close tolerance. The disclosed method largely avoids post-processing, e.g. grinding of protruding tooth sides on the saw blade.

  • Patent number: 6065906
Abstract: A slot-widening key for use with insert holders of the kind that includes a blade shaped body having a slot intended to receive an insert. One surface of the slot is defined by an elastically flexible clamping arm for clamping the insert. The key has a shaft with two projections for engaging laterally opening seats in the body and the clamping arm, respectively. One of these two projections is provided on a pivoting link that is pivotably connected with the shaft via a hinge pin. The sum of a first distance between the hinge pin and one of projections, plus a second distance between the hinge pin and the other projection, is larger than the at-rest distance between the seats of the insert holder. Pivoting of the shaft beyond an unstable position of equilibrium thus makes the clamping arm deflect by a predetermined value for widening the slot. The key is self-supporting in the slot-widening position and does not require that the manual force be continuously applied.

  • Patent number: 5980165
Abstract: An insert holder having a slot adapted to receive a cutting insert, a part of the slot being formed by a clamping arm. Two laterally opening seats are provided in the holder for receiving two spaced-apart projections of a key that is intended to bend the clamping arm outwards for widening the slot during the mounting and/or dismounting of a cutting insert. One of the seats has a cylindrical shape and defines a fulcrum for receiving the first projection, while the other seat has an oblong shape in order to effect outward bending of the clamping arm in response to displacement of the second projection along the oblong seat from a first point thereon located at a certain distance from the first fulcrum to a second point thereon located at a shorter distance from the fulcrum.

  • Patent number: 5899643
Abstract: A slot opening key having a body member provided with a first, planar abutment surface and a second surface recessed with respect to the first surface and co-directional therewith. The body member is provided with a pair of spaced-apart prongs which are substantially parallel to one another. The first prong protrudes from the first surface, and the second prong is positioned such that it is spaced apart from the first prong by at least a portion of the second surface. A prong rotating lever is provided to eccentrically rotate one prong relative to the other to adjust the spacing therebetween. The slot opening key is used to facilitate removal and insertion of a cutting insert retained between a resilient clamping jaw and a rigid base jaw, by inserting the prongs into corresponding apertures in each jaw, and actuating the rotating lever. The second surface between the first and second prongs provides clearance so that the key body remains clear of the insert during insertion and removal.

  • Patent number: 4358045
Abstract: A brazing fixture having an arrangement for indexing the teeth of a saw blade successively into register with a laying block. The block is so constructed as to accurately locate the pre-top-ground tips on successive teeth so that the tips can be brazed to the teeth with their cutting edges in a common circle about the axis of the saw blade. The invention also contemplates a method of providing a saw blade with the cutting edges of tips in a common circle comprising providing top ground tips, indexing a saw successively into register with an application zone, and at the zone abutting the cutting edges of the tips successively against a locator face and securing the tips to the teeth in such position.
