Motor Or Gear Driven Patents (Class 81/464)
  • Patent number: 11958173
Abstract: An impact tool includes a motor, a control unit, an output shaft, a transmission mechanism, and an impact detection unit. The transmission mechanism includes an impact mechanism. The impact mechanism applies impacting force to the output shaft while performing an impact operation. The impact detection unit determines, based on at least one of an excitation current (current measured value) to be supplied to the motor or a torque current (current measured value) to be supplied to the motor, whether or not the impact operation is being performed. The control unit places a limit on an increase in the number of revolutions of the motor before the impact detection unit detects the impact operation and removes the limit on the increase in the number of revolutions of the motor when the impact detection unit detects the impact operation.

  • Patent number: 5138915
Abstract: A wrench has a handle with a jaw for gripping a workpiece. The jaw is formed of a first jaw member which moves transversely with respect to the handle and a second jaw member which is connected to the handle by an adjustment nut and extension to move relative to the first jaw member. An air motor delivers impact forces to a hammer which in turn transfers the impact forces to the first jaw member. The air motor is controlled by a valve secured to the handle. The surfaces of the jaw members may be exchanged to interface with specific workpieces.

  • Patent number: 4919022
Abstract: The powered ratchet wrench 10 is constructed of several components. A throttle lever 20 controls the air flow to a rotary air motor 30. The rotary output of the motor is transmitted to the hammer assembly 40 of an impact clutch mechanism. A spring 50 biases an anvil shaft 60 into association with the hammer assembly 40. The anvil can be directly driven by the motor through the hammer assembly or can be driven intermittently by a series of rotational impacts from the hammer assembly. The rotation of the anvil shaft causes the reversible ratchet mechanism 70 to rotate in the desired direction, thus tightening or removing a threaded fastener. Only a small reaction force is transmitted by the tool to the operator once the fastener is tightened.

  • Patent number: 4905423
Abstract: A power tool apparatus which is hand-holdable during operation serves for facilitating especially heavy duty work, e.g. on a high scaffolding. The apparatus is composed of three building blocks, a central one haivng an elongated enveloping shell and an integral transverse wall dividing the shell into a forward and a rearward compartment. The latter contains a speed-reducing transmission unit and has a motor unit attached to the shell rear end. As a third building block the operator equipped with a kit according to the invention has the choice of several inset units, among them a simple front end wall with an intermediate shaft, and the same end wall and an impact-generating unit on the intermediate shaft, which inset units he can introduce through the open front end of the enveloping shell and exchange them as required without taking apart the transmission unit or detaching the motor unit. A handle can likewise be attached to the central shell unit.

  • Patent number: 4821611
Abstract: By transferring the power fed from a motor to a ratchet mechanism through means of an impact clutch mechanism, a relatively large torque is obtained by the impact clutch mechanism. In addition when a torque greater than a predetermined level is applied to the ratchet mechanism, reaction is never given to the operator's hand because the impact clutch mechanism does not transfer a force greater than the present torque to the ratchet mechanism, thus permitting safe operation. With the ratchet mechanism, moreover, it becomes possible to effect such operation as first loosening and removing by the operator's force such members as bolts and nuts which have been additionally tightened independently or strongly tightened to a level in excess of a certain torque preset for the device.
