  • Patent number: 9091113
Abstract: A safety gate has a frame with spaced apart top and bottom assemblies and spaced apart side assemblies in a deployed configuration. The top and bottom assembly length is extendable and retractable between the opposed side assemblies. A flexible barrier is connected to the frame. A one-way jack mechanism can be carried on each of the top and bottom assemblies. The length of the assemblies can be extended without actuating the jack mechanisms to adjust the frame to nearly fit a space between two surfaces. The jack mechanisms, when actuated, incrementally further extend the top and bottom assemblies so the frame interferingly fits between the two surfaces under compression. The frame can be reconfigurable between a compact configuration and the deployed configuration. The side assemblies can include latches that lock the frame in the deployed configuration.

  • Patent number: 8056445
Abstract: The Multi-Task-Tool provides more positive control of clamp-action-mounted power distribution devices while placing, tightening, loosening and removing the devices from their intended receivers, including but not limited to power lines and taps, and it may be attached to common extension sticks for long reach. Many electrical power distribution devices are secured in position directly or indirectly by a threaded fastener which is most often an eye bolt. The tool body receives and contains the eye bolt and a portion of the shank giving leverage to control the device. Once the distribution device is in place the tool is then rotated to position internal rails on each side of the eye and then pulled down to seat the eye against its aperture cap. Internal rails provide stops to transmit rotational force to the eye bolt in either direction. The tool may be modified to work with other fastener heads.

  • Patent number: 7093518
Abstract: A tool for tensioning loosening, and opening spring-type clamping elements with two radially outward-projecting actuating arms, the tool including a hand-operable actuating part, a Bowden cable having a bore and a sheath, the Bowden cable being connected to the actuating part, and a tensioning part with two jaws which are able to move relative to each other. Each of the jaws is configured to act on one of the actuating arms, a first one of the jaws being connected to the core, and a second one of the jaws being connected to the sheath of the Bowden cable so that the jaws can be brought toward each other and thus execute a tensioning movement. The actuating part includes a device for automatically locking in a tensioning stroke and a device for feeding the Bowden cable.

  • Patent number: 6945145
Abstract: A quick action, cam operated hand tool holder, such as a tap wrench. The cam is moveable between at least one released and one locked positions, preferably by a conventional T-handle. A third position may also be provided which may be either a second locked or a second released position. An adjustable nut, or similar, retains a collet within the wrench and adjusts the wrench to different sizes of tools (i.e. taps) and adjusts the gripping force applied when the cam is locked. The collet is preferably reversible, accommodating different tool sizes on each end, but may also be single ended.

  • Patent number: 6907802
Abstract: A tool for actuating a workpiece includes a fixed member for contacting a contact surface of a workpiece and a movable member, which is supported by the fixed member for generally linear movement relative to the fixed member. The movable member is for contacting a second contact surface of the workpiece. The tool further includes a trigger mechanism for urging the movable member into engagement with the second contact surface. The trigger mechanism has stored energy therein and is adapted to apply a load to the movable member whereby the movable member moves over a first range of movement for moving the second contact surface relative the first contact surface in response to the load for actuating the workpiece. In addition, the trigger mechanism releases at least a portion of the stored energy when the movable member no longer detects a reaction force from the second contact surface to thereby move the movable member over a second range of movement in response to the release of the stored energy.
