  • Patent number: 9302325
Abstract: A method removes a fuel injector pole piece from bar stock and provides a cutoff tool having a first cutting surface and a second cutting surface separate from the first cutting surface. The pole piece and bar stock are caused to rotate about a longitudinal axis. The tool is advanced with respect to the pole piece so that the first cutting surface severs the pole piece from the bar stock and defines an unfinished end surface of the pole piece, with a certain cutting force being exerted on the tool. The tool is further advanced with respect to the pole piece so that the second cutting surface removes material from the unfinished end surface to define a finished end surface of the pole piece, with a cutting force on the tool being substantially less than the certain cutting force.

Abstract: A outer diameter shaft reducer tool includes a cutter head and main body capable of assembly together through the use of a pair of set screws. The assembly can then easily be connected to a hand-held drill through a common extension thereby allowing for the provision of automated rotation of the cutting assembly. To reduce the outside diameter of a shaft, a user inserts the bar or rod into a lumen within the main body and applies pressure to cause a number of cutting teeth to engage the end portion of the bar or rod near the outer portion of the end face. As the teeth cut, the outside diameter of the shaft is thereby reduced.

  • Patent number: 5303621
Abstract: A clamping device is furnished, in particular for peeling machines for metallic bars (21) and tubes. The clamping device clamps the workpieces in a defined way at a preselected position (99) and independent of the diameter of the workpieces. The clamping device includes means for synchronization (64-69) of the motion of the clamping rollers (31, 32). The clamping position of the bar to be clamped can be varied by an adjustment device. The means for synchronization (64-69) of the clamping motion transfer a preselectable part of the clamping force, which is furnished such that the means for synchronization are held free from play via preclamping, during in all clamping phases. This eliminates vibrations of the bar (21) together with the clamping means (31, 62; 32, 63) or any undesired shifting of the clamping position.

  • Patent number: 5255581
Abstract: A peeling machine (1) includes individual device groups (2, 5, 63, 7) which can be centered and clamped at guide rails (23, 24). The guide rails also furnish a particular sliding possibility for a selective moving apart of individual device groups (2, 5, 63). This allows for maintenance, inspection, and repair of the device groups, which are made accessible by moving the individual device groups apart without any heavy equipment. The device groups, which are not to be separated during the pulling apart of the peeling machine at the guide rails, are connected to each other (64, 65) such that the peeling machine can be separated and subdivided at the desired location. The guide rails extend parallel to the rotation axis (62) of the cutter head (26) of the peeling machine and can be quickly bolted and released.

  • Patent number: 5230266
Abstract: A rotary driven spindle (6) comprises sliders (14, 64) arranged on its front face, which can be adjusted radially as the spindle (6) rotates. To this end, an adjustment mechanism (21) comprises a device component (8) which rotates with the spindle and which can be moved relative to the spindle in order to adjust the slider (14). The radial centrifugal, frictional and working forces transmitted to the bearing housing (7) by the adjustment mechanism during adjustment of the slider (14) are compensated to a controllable extent by compensation of the centrifugal forces directly between the spindle and the device component (8). The compensation is effected by means of centrifugal weights (16, 66), the centrifugal force of which is deflected into axial forces. In one embodiment, the centrifugal weights (16, 66) penetrate a gap (12, 13) which tapers outward between two front faces (12, 13) of the component and the spindle.

  • Patent number: 5207136
Abstract: A machining unit, in particular in a numerically controlled lathe, has a rotary head equipped with four pivoting tools for machining parts which pass axially through this head without rotating. Each tool is mounted on a respective pivoting support (6a-6d) provided with a helicoidal guiding surface (26a-26d) the axis of which coincides with the pivoting axis (7a-7d) of the support. The four tools are controlled by means of two concentric annular sockets (30, 42) controlled in translation. The inner socket (30) has two outer surfaces which rest against the guiding surfaces (26a, 26b) of two of the supports. The guiding surfaces are helixes of opposite pitch, and therefore one of the corresponding tools moves toward the part as the second tool moves away from it. The outer socket (42) controls the other two tools in the same manner.

  • Patent number: 4998455
Abstract: A tool head (12) through which work bars (35) to be machined can be pushed and which is adapted to be driven in rotation is supported on a head stock (11). The head stock (11) is disposed between a rear feeding means (57) and a front chuck means (25). The rear feeding means (57) is designed for steadily advancing one work bar (35) at a time up to the chuck means (25) and is movable into a position ready to take up another work bar (35) before the preceding work bar (35) has been used up. The front chuck means (25) is designed to grip a portion of the work bar (35) pushed through the head stock (11) and the tool head (12) and to exert forwardly directed axial pull on the same, and it can be pushed axially back and forth by its own feed drive means (27) independently of the rear feeding means (57). That makes it possible to replace a used up work bar (35) by a new one in simple manner, in little time, and without any risk of an accident.

  • Patent number: 4991475
Abstract: The invention is a method and apparatus for sawing bar-shaped workpieces o slices by means of an annular saw. The saw blade deviation, from its nominal position in the axial direction during the sawing operation, is compensated for. According to the invention, the deviation can be compensated for by the workpiece and the clamping system of the saw blade performing an appropriate relative translatory axial movement in accordance with the measured deviation. This movement is conveniently controlled by a computer, which compares the actual and nominal position of the saw blade with one another. The method can be used especially in the sawing of semiconductor bars.
