Abstract: Cutter suitable for artificial flower stems. Typically, plastic coated wire stems are cut with hand cutters to various lengths in preparing artificial floral arrangements. The invention requires far less physical effort by the operator than is required when using conventional wire cutters. In the preferred use of the preferred embodiment of the invention, an uncut stem is inserted crosswise through two elongated holes in the guard housing. When the cutter jaws open, the stem is pushed into the open jaws and is cut to a desired length from the flower end when the jaws close. In the preferred embodiment of the invention a gear reduction motor drives an arm and cam roller assembly. That cam roller forces the top handle of the cutter downward causing the jaws to close. As the cycle continues, the cam roller raises and a spring causes the jaws to open.

The coil spring holds the centrifugal arm next to the end of the roller. Opposite ends of a clamp attached to a cutter bar are slidably received in a pair of cutter bar guides. When the centrifugal arm roller exceeds a certain speed indicating a free fall of the cable, the bias force of the arm coil springs is overcome and the arms move outwardly. • Patent number: 5775192
Abstract: A shear type miter cutter has a pivotal blade and four linearly sliding blades. The linearly sliding blades may be manually linearly positioned to preset locations for a particular size or type of stock material. The linearly sliding blades are further linearly adjusted automatically upon rotation of a stock material support fence, to ensure optimum alignment between the pivotal blade and the linearly sliding blades. The automatic adjustment allows an operator to make rapid changes in cut angles for a given stock material, while still yielding finished cut edges of high quality and precise angular orientation. A variety of designs for rapidly manually setting the cutter to specific preset angles and specific stock materials are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5749145
Abstract: An egg cutter comprising a rectangular base plate which has webs running parallel to a first lateral edge and separated by gaps, the profile of which webs forms an elliptical depression in which to place an egg, and comprising a cutting frame which is pivotable about a second lateral edge, oriented perpendicularly to the first lateral edge, of the base plate and has parallel-tensioned wires aligned with the gaps between the webs, for cutting slices. The technical problem is to provide an egg cutter suitable both for cutting eggs into slices and for cutting them into pieces. A second cutting frame for cutting pieces is pivotable about an axis parallel to the second lateral edge and has cutting wires arranged in the shape of a star, and cross slots are provided in the webs of the base plate to correspond to the cutting wires. • Patent number: 5647261
Abstract: An automated sheet cutting device includes a frame, a fixed linearly-shaped blade secured to the frame, and a moveable blade-supporting mechanism also secured to the frame for operably supporting a moveable blade against the fixed blade. In particular, the blade-supporting mechanism includes a swing arm pivotally secured to the frame for movement about a first axis, and further includes a blade holder pivotally secured to the swing arm for movement about a second axis. An actuator connected to the swing arm rotates the blade-supporting mechanism about the first axis, and a spring connected to the blade holder pivots the blade holder about the second axis so that the moveable blade continuously engages the fixed blade. The fixed and moveable blades comprise elongated linearly shaped bars, but are oriented at an angle so that the blades contact along a continuously shifting shearing point as the moveable blade is moved curvilinearly downwardly across the fixed blade with a sweeping motion.

The two portions are hingedly secured together at the lower surface thereof. Each inner surface has a longitudinally oriented concave recess formed therein. When the two portions are closed together each concave recess forms a containment chamber. Each of the two portions has a plurality of transversely oriented slots extending downwardly through the upper surface thereof to a position below the longitudinally oriented concave recess. The two portions serve to contain a sausage within the containment chamber formed by the longitudinally oriented concave recesses as the two portions are closed together.

  • Patent number: 5479971
Abstract: A dual action tree cutting apparatus includes a single generally planar blade mounted on a shaft at the forward end of a support frame, with the blade projecting forwardly therefrom. The blade has a cutting edge extending around the entire perimeter, and has two mirror image halves divided by a centerline passing through the shaft. Each blade half cutting edge increases in the distance between the cutting edge and the shaft along the perimeter from a rearward end of the centerline to a forward end of the centerline. A set of cutting teeth are formed on one blade half and oriented to cut a tree when the blade is rotated clockwise, while a second set of cutting teeth are oriented on the second blade half perimeter to cut a tree when the blade is rotated counterclockwise. A sprocket on the shaft is engaged by a pair of drive chains connected to operable cylinders, the cylinders operable to retract and pull one drive train to rotate the blade in each direction.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for shaping a solid antiperspirant stick composition. The antiperspirant composition is produced in a generally cylindrical form having an oval or elliptical cross-section and the method and apparatus disclosed herein form the exposed end of the stick into a domed shape. A shaping mechanism comprises three shaped and heated cutting edges, each of which is arcuately oscillated with respect to the end of the stick within the plane of the major axis of the oval or ellipse. One pre-cut cutting edge is oscillated in one direction and makes a cut partially into one side of the exposed end of the stick. Rough cut and finish cut cutting edges are then arcuately passed through the end of the stick in the opposite direction.
