With Diverse Material Incorporating Patents (Class 87/28)
  • Patent number: 10711898
Abstract: The present application pertains to a braided dual-sided compression packing seal, methods for producing and using such a seal, and apparatuses suitable for producing such a seal. The braided dual-sided compression packing seal is made up of two or more different materials that are braided together in such a way that, in cross-section, the compression packing seal has an asymmetrical configuration relative to a first axis that is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and is substantially perpendicular to a side of the compression packing seal. Accordingly, when viewed in a cross-sectional plane, the compression packing seal may expose substantially only a first material along a first side of the seal, and substantially only a second material along a second side of the seal.

Abstract: A braided water resistant flexible strong plastic rope and method of making, comprising a first, second and third braided strand of three flexible ribbons of connected plastic bags operable to sustain substantial tensile forces. When the central, left and right braided strands are braided together they form a braided water resistant flexible strong plastic rope. The rope can be used for braided belts and handles.

Abstract: A braiding apparatus for braiding the perforated braids with constant interval of perforations comprises a first braid section to braid one strand with a plurality of yarns, sequential braid section to braid with two strands and secondary sequential braid section to braid a final strand with the previous process of the strands. This braiding apparatus comprises a carrier guide plate (10) having a pair of core yarn holes (12), a plurality of coupling boles (13), two tracks of carrier contours (14), a base plate (40) having a plurality of carriers (20), feed gears (30), feed discs (31), feed gear shafts (32), actuators (42), carrier contour changers (50) including a main block (60), intermediate cross block (70) and inner split block (80) for performing repeated crossing and separating operations. So, the various braids with constant interval of perforations are possibly produced by differ the number of core yarns and carriers.

  • Patent number: 5732541
Abstract: A filament rope may be produced continuously by the method and apparatus of this invention. In an upper portion of a frame of the apparatus is a unit having strand carrying spools that move about to braid the strands into a core of the rope. During braiding the strands overlap to form sets of pairs of transversely aligned openings which decrease in size as the rope core is drawn away from the braiding unit by a tension wheel assembly. While the openings are still large, a filament length carried by a first cylinder passes through one pair of strand openings. The cylinder then is withdrawn and the filament length severed leaving a filament segment in that pair of openings. Next, a second filament segment is placed in the other strand opening pair by a second cylinder. After filament segment insertion a tamping tool engages the strands and inserted filament segments to promote opening size reduction and improve formation of a compressive fit by the strands on the filament segments.

  • Patent number: 5591524
Abstract: The invention relates to a yarn guidance rod and to a device for the laying of a yarn on a cross-wound bobbin in a textile machine. A plurality of winding stations installed next to each other is serviced by a yarn guidance rod made of a carbon fiber reinforced plastic which can be moved back and forth. The yarn guidance rod is provided with a sheathing. The yarn guidance rod has segments made of a highly heat-expandable material in order to achieve heat compensation as compared with the textile machine.

  • Patent number: 4936186
Abstract: A method of weaving a three-dimensional article by which, an area arranging carrier members (1) in the form of a matrix is segmented into a plurality of rectangular blocks (G1 to G6) to choose prescribed blocks therefrom, and then a basic weaving operation is sequentially and alternately performed with respect to the prescribed blocks. According to the weaving method, it is possible to easily weave many kinds of three-dimensional articles (2) having different sectional forms. An apparatus for weaving a three-dimensional article having, first guide means (16) for guiding the movement in row direction of the carrier members (1) and second guide means (17) for guiding the movement in column direction of the carrier members (1), so that the carrier members (1) are smoothly moved in the row and the column directions by the first and the second guide means (16 and 17).

  • Patent number: 4934240
Abstract: Apparatus for braiding an article from a plurality of fibers, comprising a plurality of flexible annular members of substantially the same size which are disposed side-by-side in axially aligned relation and have means for supporting fiber carriers for axial movement relative thereto. The annular members are mounted for circumferential movement about a common central axis relative to each other. A plurality of rows of fiber carriers are mounted on the annular members for axial movement relative to the annular members. Actuating means are provided to move the annular members and to move the rows of fiber carriers axially in a predetermined manner to intertwine the fibers.

  • Patent number: 4916997
Abstract: The method involves braiding a plurality of fiber bundles, each comprising a reinforcing fiber overwrapped by a plurality of glass or metal matrix-forming fibers, to form a 3D braided preform having stuffer fiber bundles extending longitudinally therethrough and heating the preform at a temperature and applying pressure to form the matrix-forming fibers into a bonded matrix in which the reinforcing fibers are disposed in a 3D braided pattern and in a longitudinal (stuffer) pattern.

  • Patent number: 4885973
Abstract: A composite article is made by braiding a 3D article shaped preform including non-fugative braider reinforcing fibers and fugative fibers and removing the fugative fibers to form a plurality of matrix-ingress passages in the braided preform. During impregnation of the braided preform with a matrix material, matrix material is supplied to the interior of the preform via the passages. The fugative fibers typically comprise fugative monofilaments which are substantially larger in size than the non-fugative fibers to permit one or more dimensions of the preform and thus the composite article to be increased beyond the capacity of the particular braiding apparatus employed.

  • Patent number: 4614147
Abstract: Cores (a1-a4) pass through separate points in a plate (1) of the machine, over which plate thread-carrying spools (17.sub.1 -17.sub.24) are free to move. Two pairs of spools (i.e. four spools) are associated with each of the six possible pairs of the cores (a1-a4). Both spools in each pair are wound in the same direction around the corresponding pair of cores. The other two spools corresponding to the same pair of cores wind round the pair in the opposite direction. At successive steps of the method, each spool in each pair of spools is swapped with the other spool of the pair to occupy the position previously occupied by the said other spool. As a result, each pair of cores is covered by two helical windings in each winding direction.

  • Patent number: 4096781
Abstract: Apparatus and method are disclosed for inserting an additive type thread along a surface area of a braided fabric. Base material containing bobbins are guided about the base material bobbin path, whereas bobbins containing the desired additive thread are only permitted to revolve around a portion of the base material bobbin path corresponding to the fabric surface. The base material containing bobbins and the additive thread containing bobbins are provided with different types of feet; the feet of the base material bobbins cooperating with stationary switch means located along the bobbin path to permit rotation of the base material bobbins about the entire bobbin path. In contrast, the feet of the additive type bobbins cooperate with the same stationary switch means in such manner that rotation of the additive thread containing bobbins is limited to a certain specified portion of the bobbin path; the portion corresponding to the desired fabric surface area.
